The Dark Knight The Tumbler and Bat-Pod is on tour!

Ths is great news, thanks for the heads up guys!

Just a quick question though...........
I'll be downtown tomorrow (at the Eaton Center actaully lol) and I was wondering if anyone knows how long it will be there for?
I don't want to go around 1 or 2pm and miss it, lol.

Yeah wondering that myself, I'm down by Union but hoping to leave and go check it out around 11:30 - 12. I suppose if we miss it there are a few other chances, but I suspect each will be a zoo.

Thanks so much for the update! Now to re-schedule some work...:word:

Open up Outlook, schedule yourself a meeting from 11am - 2pm...

...and where is that Eaton Centre location? That can't be the address to the Toronto Life Square, they wouldn't put it IN the mall would they?

That's where it was last time.:cwink:

Go into the Centre near Sears (where the escalators are) and it should be right between the escalators on the street level.

I might have to camp out at BT for this one, just for fun. Too bad I haven't made a CFB shirt or gotten the swag box yet!:bat:

It's already at City!:cwink:

Got there early, with two other guys waiting. Let's just say that wearing a bat-logo t-shirt gets you noticed fast at 7:00 AM.:oldrazz:

Pics to follow later tonight. I'm gonig to the Eatons Centre, too.

I'm watching CityTv right now, how come they have yet to broadcast it?

They showed it around 7:20am EST on Breakfast Television, they threw one of the action figures at the hosts and they missed and the thing just broke on the ground, idiots!

I'm trying to go at lunchtime. :)

Yeah. The Bat-Pod is pretty cool and all.... But really, it's just the icing on the Tumbler cake.

-WsS?
Agree, given that it was advertised and on TV today, it appears as though Toronto is one of the 7 cities.

Mmmm... Tumbler cake....:funny:

They were both here in Toronto for the Breakfast Television bit, so they should both be here in the mall. I'll let you know, I'm leaving shortly to go there for a stakeout.:brucebat:

Batmobile and Batpod are both confirmed for the Eatons Centre. They're roped off in the same spot as last time, and they'll be there until 9:00 PM. They're moving to the Scotiabank Theatre for 9:00 AM tomorrow morning, so that's also a pretty good chance to see it. Pics tonight...

And yeah, the guy said they were staying until 9.00 pm, possibly 10 pm tonight. So there's plenty of time for you guys who areat work or elsewhere.

Just got back, that was pretty cool, although I had a few disappointingly unphotogenic shots where *I* was in the shot, bummer. Otherwise got a few cool pics of it. :)

I was downstairs and we asked the security guys where it was, "Uhh... upstairs, maybe you'll see Robin and fight crime up there too!". In mocking fashion, but... whatever haha, we laughed it off, but we were clearly not the only ones interested in seeing it.

Overall, was pretty cool. :) There's also a Dark Knight banner in the sky near Union.

EDIT: Showing my pics to some friends who are under the impression it's fake, it DID look pretty clean. Was this one used in filming?! What's the deal, I know it has to drive over to MuchMusic tomorrow.

Yes they were both used for actual shots, although the Tumbler is actually from Batman Begins and wasn't used in TDK at all.

I don't really know how they move them, that's something I'd be interested in seeing actually. We were told the Bat-Pod had its engine removed for the tour, but I didn't hear anything about the Tumbler. That's something that would be pretty hard to move around if they didn't actually drive it, wouldn't it? But then again, I have a hard time imagining the guy just saying "Alright that's it folks" then open the roof, get in, ignite the Tumbler and drive away...

I just have no idea of how they move it around. Maybe the guys who have already seen them in US cities have seen how they load them back onto the truck,

Where the hell are the dates? How can they expect the fans to come out and see the vehicles when they don't even list the locations and dates...

Before I say what I'm about to say, I want everyone who cares about this stuff to understand I am not knocking anyone here. It's actually pretty cool to see this stuff in person and to take picturs and to be "only so close" to the real thing.

But with that said,

What's the big deal about seeing these things? That's all you get to do is stare and look at the Tumbler and Bat-Pod. Sure it sounds cool to do so, but when you actually get there it kinda sucks. I've been in this situation before where a big movie prop is on display. In my opinion, so what if I get to see it? If I want to see the damn thing, and see it in motion and work, I'll watch the movie. If I want to just stare at it, I'll look at a picture. I don't need to go to some mall, or theater or park to see something I can see with less effort made.

Now, if they were allowing people to sit on the Bat-Pod or get inside the Tumbler to take pictures and get a feel for the damn things, that's a completely different story. I'd set aside some time to go check it out. But going to look at a useless prop 10 feet away an excitment level is not worth my time.

Like I said, not dissing anyone who actually likes to see these things, but stating my own opinion on the matter. I went to a Movie Exhibit in Memphis once, and at least there I got to touch and explore with real movie props and it was cool. It wouldn't have been so cool if I had been restrained and told "Look...Don't Touch". Hell, I had seen the stuff before in films, why do I need to see it in person if I only get to look at it again? Have any of you gotten to ride on the snow beast from Empire Strikes Back? I have and it was cool. Seeing in Empire was cool, but actually getting to sit and ride the damn thing was cooler.

Those we have gathered so far are on page 2. If your city's dates and locations are not listed, I suggest you send emails to the tourism office. They will most likely know.

Ableedingcoarpse, most people just like to see movie props for real, because well, first, in some ways, they feel like a bond of some sort between their favourite movie/actor and them is created when they see them. Thinking "Hey I'm staring at a gun Harrison Ford had in his hands for Blade Runner" is kinda cool in its own way. Seeing a vehicle from a movie is comparable.

I got to see a whole lot of Star Wars costumes and props 3 years ago, and it felt really cool to stare at those things who are used by a lot of cool characters on screen. I'm thinking Jango Fett's armor or Darth Vader's helmet for instance.

Plus, when they're on display like that, you can also get a kick out of seeing how the thing was actually built. You can see it under every angle, see it this part looks fake, this other one looks real, why did they choose to do it that way, how did they make that detail look real, etc... It's very cool to see the amount of work that has gone into those things.

Those things are pieces of art, in the literal meaning. They were crafted for the purpose of serving art, through a movie. It's always cool to see art, but I understand if other people just don't really care at all. I for one am really into movie-making, so I really get a kick out of it.

I was speaking to one of the guys incharge of the display and he told me they had to actually remove the hinges off the doors of the mall to drive the Tumbler in.....It took no less than 30 people to help bring it in!
He also told me they get to see the movie this Monday on an IMAX screen ;)

so for chicago, if you didnt buy tickets to the gala, you cant see them? that sucks.

On Breakfast Television today they the Tumbler driving around in the parking lot, and I imagine those damn VJ's on Much will get to ride in it again tomorrow (like with Begins). :(

PS: I borrowed some of your pics (my friends didn't wanna go to the top floor to take an aerial shot) for my Facebook album.

Well I'm in the D.C. area and usually when these promotional things happen, they usually don't occur in D.C. Usually either Maryland or Virginia, and there's a lot of ground to be covered. I was just saying, if they want fans and people to see these things, you would think they would post the information for each location...

CAN SOMEONE CONFIRM THIS?

I don't have time to call peeps and find out, but can someone confirm that the only way to see these is by paying for the Chi-town film fest? Thanks in advance!
