At this stage we all know that the tumbler gets bl*wn up (didn't want to ruin it for anyone...)

So what are we looking at with regards to a replacement? As it stands, the rumors are that the Bat Pod (hereinafter "the Pod") pops out of the Tumblers like a veritable ping pong ball from a Vietnamese Hooker.

Looking at certain pics of the tumbler (they're in one of these threads but I can't seem to find them at the mo...) there are what look like pneumatic/hydraulic struts at the sides of the tumbler connected to where batman shoots his weapons from, we'll call it the weapons launch bay (hereinafter the "wlb"). These struts on the wlb, in the middle of the tumbler aren't attached to the wheels. Furthermore, if you look at close ups at the front of the tumbler, there are notches where the wheel bearings are that would allow the tumbler's wheers to turn 90 degrees opposite lock.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the front wheels of the tumbler are *coincidentally* similar to those of the pod... I have a feeling that the wlb and the front wheels pop out like the aforementioned ping pong ball, and that the whole structure somehow folds into the pod... Like this perhaps?

I can't get my head around how this would work practically, but it's what seems to make the most sense. Each wheel of the pod is only connected at one side....


This brings me on to the second part of this thread....

Nolan is a smart guy, he made Memento, you needed to be a smart guy to make Memento. Therefore, he's going to replace the tumbler. Smart guys have this self preservation thing that way.

What will he replace it with? I sincerely doubt that we'll have the pod for the duration of the third film? Now I love the tumbler, I always was a big big fan, but the 89 batmobile was the sexiest thing ever made by man that didn't involve sperm. I would love to see a sportier batmobile... Will we get it, or will we get another tumbler???

Another Tumbler would be bland and uncreative. I see it's either going to be a sportier, more classic looking Batmobile or taking it a step further into a full-blown tank. And the picture at the beginning of your post is hilarious.

Since the Tumbler gets destroyed, doesn't it make more sense that Bruce salvages what he can, and gets Fox to help him make a Bat-Pod? It doesn't LITERALLY come out of the Tumbler, it just comes out of the Tumbler. It comes out of what's LEFT of the Tumbler.


And since Bruce is such a stickler for being prepared(at least he should be), wouldn't it make sense that he'd starts experimenting and building new and different things? Weapons, gadgets, VEHICLES. There WERE extra tires in that one picture of Bruce and Alfred infront of the new Batsuit in the temporary cave.

Both the Batpod and the Tumbler have been seen chasing the Joker semi down the same stretch of road, what other explanation is there besides it pops out? I think only one Tumbler front wheel belongs to the Batpod, with the other inside the car, but it still doesn't make great sense.

Well, he does have the lambo after all! Being a billionaire, he should have a Bugatti Veyron, I need to see a veyron in the third film, as well as either scarlett johansson or charlieze theron, otherwise I shall deem the trilogy a failure.

Furthermore, I think the rumors actually are that the pod pops out of the tumbler...

Think about it... How would they salvage the wreck of the tumbler? Does batman have AA?

You made me go look at that picture again very carefully... ANd you're right, there are spare back wheels to the tumbler in that pic...

But look at the EXTREME right (we're talking about the pic of bruce and alfred infront of the suit in the temporary batcave), you can see a guy's hand taking a light reading or something!!!

I'm beginning to think that these pics weren't necessarily for the viral campaign, it seems that these are all "behind the scenes shots", as everyone seems to be saying that they do the WW footage no justice? It's starting to look to me like they were meant for the "making of" book that ties in with these kinda films...

Until I see the movie I'm going with the idea that they just happened to film all the chase scenes in the same area at the same time while they had the city's permission. They'll alter the sceneary in post along with filming more in sound stages.

Anyway... It's a theory, not stupid. I'm saying that it pops out, the wheels turn 90 degrees and lock, and as they do so, the weapons bay where batman lies somehow fold out as well, kind of like a scissors action. As sas said once though, it would be perpendicular to the direction of movement.

I can't see where the tumbler would have room to conceal a third wheel.

Remember also that both wheels are only connected at one side. that means if there is a concealed wheel, it would have to be where the tumbler's back wheels are, and not in the middle, as it is almost certain that AT LEAST one of the pods wheels is from the tumbler.

Look at the BIG notch where the wheel is attached! It looks like it can turn 90 degrees, which would make it perpendicular to the rest of the vehicle. And do you see the hyrdaulic struts on the panel on the left, the way they are hinged seems that their purpose is to increase the distance between the two wheels.
