Nukes are a blight to the planet, they aren't viable weapons of war.
They only destory the planet, and its radiation spreads and contaminates the soil.

Shouldn't the statement be "The world should destroy their nukes"?

Yeah...after everybody else does

I don't think any nations are actually going to use them at this day of age. All of the nations except for North Korea signed "The nuclear test ban treaty" to vow to never use nukes. But the ones America and Russia have left from the cold war could be stolen and used for terrorists.

Even if we were attacked, we shouldn't attack with nukes. That would only destory the planet.

Sure...Let's get rid of a weapon that would be our only defense if someone else nuked the U.S.
They should be destroyed (when the time is right, which is not now), or better yet, we should find a way to use these weapons to benefit mankind.
For all we know, we could be sitting on a resource that could send us through space faster.

Your overlooking the political ramifications having nukes brings. I mean, it's one of those things where its prestige alone can do as much as any actual explosion can.

Yup, it's like being a member of a country club or something. You don't actually have to play, just join.

Ha, and let all of the other countries bully us with threats of theirs?!

if media has taught me anything, it's that getting rid of our nukes will only leave us vulnerable to alien invasion or to the creation of a being capable of killing superman. so no thanks.

Remember the series premeire of Justice League where Superman destroyed every single nuclear weapon. Look at what happened, White Martians came in and invaded us!

Seriously though, it is very naive to have "The U.S. should destroy their nukes." There are other countries that have nuclear weapons and the United States (along with Russia and China) should be one of the last nations to destroy their weapons. India, Pakistan, North Korea, and Israel should be the first nations to destroy their nuclear weapons. Followed by the United Kingdom and France. And finally the great nuclear powers should rid of them.

It's never going to happen though. The nuclear club will continue to expand and likely include Japan, South Korea, Iran, and Saudi Arabia someday. I wouldn't be surprised if Germany, Canada, and Australia decided to join in also.

exactly

no country should have such power, especialy othe only one that has a war every 20 years or so

I think it's better for the whole world to be a third world country.

1. No more global warming
2. No more internet, computer games
3. Healthy lifestyle diet
4. Less obesity, cancer, and heart attacks
5. No more diabetes
6. Increase in exercise and well-being
7. No more pollutants in the air & sea
8. A more humane treatment of others
9. More Education. More reading.
10. Less illterate f**ks.

In a perfect world we shouldn't have nuclear weapons but since many other parts of the world have or are developing them, they're a good deterrent.

deterrent fow what? attack, america has rednecks (probably with their own stockpile of nuclear bombs) isn't that enough

No, the only thing keeping not only the United States but other countries from getting nuked is the concept of mutually assured destruction. Being as the United States, China, Russia, and possibly the U.K. are the only nuclear powers with real second strike capabilities it would be impractical for any of them to destroy their arsenels

well, it might be impractical, but it would be nice :)

Yes, all countries should destroy their nukes!!

But since that is not going to happen then we have to keep them. Sorry.

Actually, the number of nuclear nations has declined, France and the U.K. don't have nukes.

Wonderful idea, they shoot off a nuke then we do and they cycle repeats until we're in full blown nuclear winter. :whatever:

Before this ignorant post here you were making good points, no country should have the power to destroy an entire planet.
