The Ultimate DC/Marvel Tournament - Part 7

Ares uses his knowledge of war and combat to get into the Atlantean kings head and secure a victory 3-1

Next up we have

Magik

Vs

Etrigan the demon

Etrigan is Hell’s version of Kurtis Blow, and he’s a Kirby creation. So this one goes to him easily.

Sorry Magik, but “these are the breaks.”

I have a certain Witch Boy on deck for a future battle :hyper:

I could vote Magik and leave this one in Limbo which is where I think this fight would end up anyway. But we'll give Etrigan the victory. Now, let's use some more well known characters. Marvels Ares had his chance, now it's DC Ares turn.

Apocalypse

Vs

Ares

I'm going to use rival arithmetic for this one.

If Wonder Woman can beat Ares can she beat an entire team of X-men?

If no then that would mean Apocalypse would beat both Wonder Woman and Ares individually..

Apocalypse would beat the entire roster of Greek Gods.
Obviously not Zeus, of course.

Apocalypse takes the win and proclaims himself the new god of war.

Now next up

Batman vs Taskmaster

In this fight, Taskmaster has recently seen both Nightwing and Red Hood fight.

Beating Taskmaster is like beating AI in chess. The only way to beat him is by being literally insane so he can't predict your movement.

Batman would figure this out eventually and his complete knowledge of fighting styles would allow him to develop a new fighting style on the spot.

Batman wins but only due to his rare, encyclopedic knowledge of martial arts and his genius level adaptability.

I agree with that. Plus Batman surely has something in his utility belt that can throw Taskmaster off his game momentarily, giving Bruce time to end the fight.

This is one I'd love to see.

Interesting matchup based partially on your set up/caveat. Midnighter is in a lot of ways kind of like the DC version of Taskmaster. And Midnighter commented that Nightwing’s fighting style could not be replicated because his circus background and his personality had led to him developing a highly improvisational fighting style. Midnighter said Grayson “fights like jazz.” So I don’t think that Taskmaster would be all that helped by seeing Nightwing fight.

I was unaware of Midnighters assessment of Nightwing. But hey, I guess it's good I threw Jason in there as well. I always thought of Prometheus as DC's answer to Taskmaster. And there's that panel in JLA/Avengers with Bruce kicking Taskmaster and the dialogue says something about a hard fought victory.

As expected Bruce wins. This would be a fun one to watch though. Or write :)

OK I think I've got a fun one here

The Blob

Vs

Elongated Man

Typically I would say this is a stalemate but Elongated Man could just wrap himself around the Blob's breathing holes.

EM wins fairly easily.

IIRC Blob is a class 70 so how long could he hold his breath while trying to peel off EM before he passes out?

Ralph wins and then calls a League friend to help move the body.

Starfire

Vs

Super Skrull

Much as I love Kori I don't see her winning this one, SS has gone up against some heavy hitters (Thor & Thanos) and has done okay, he's very versatile with the FF's powers and she's not quite as durable as him.

This might be a close battle without Sue's powers but with them I think Super-Skrull takes this easily.

Klrt takes the win.

Here's a fun battle between powerhouses

Black Adam

Vs

Count Nefaria

Thunderbolts_Vol_1_44_Textless.jpg

I want to say BA but while he has more skill and experience and the whole magical energy attack, Nefaria is crazy powerful, taking on full teams of Avengers isn't easy especially when Thor & Hulk is involved. It'd be a long drawn out war of attrition but at the end I'll give the edge to the Count.

Hmm both of these guys are nearly invulnerable and incredibly smart.

Ultimately it comes down to science vs magic. I give the advantage to magic since it can go beyond the limits of science.

Though it's questionable whether Neferia's draining ability would work quickly on Black Adam. With prep time I can see Neferia winning but in a random encounter I'll go with BA. Too much raw power and magic to contain with physics alone.

Currently, I'm leaning slightly towards Adam but I can be convinced either way. I'm only certain it woul be a epic clash. What's your take @Babillygunn ?

This is a close one. But I would give the edge to Black Adam. He has more experience having been around the block for a long time, he has a cunning that extends from his position of being a leader of a world power, whereas Nefaria is more of a poser on the world stage. And as has already been mentioned, I will give magic the edge over science when comics are involved.

So my money is on Black Adam.
