Comics The Ultimate X-MEN Thread

If they are going this direction, it seems to be a better choice than retelling the dark phoenix saga. It can wait because I think the Ult Universe needs to continue going against what you think will happen.

Exactly.Even though we're hitting 65 soon, there's still so much construction left in the universe.I believe there has been a total of no more than 15 arcs in the series. There's still a long way to go.

The pages shrink size too fast making the writiing hard to read. :down Anyone know what Magneto said to Mystique?

With XP,if you place your mouse on the pic,an enlarge box will appear at the bottom right of the pic.

Can someone post a pic of Ult Apoclpyse or Sinister?

Ahhhh yeaahhhh!Sabes is back in town,Sabes is back in town!

Wouldn't have Sabretooth just survived on his healing ability? I hope they have a good explaination for him being back.

I'm so glad he's back.I thought after Weapon X we'd never see him again.

Yeah he's a cool character. Anyone else getting the Ult Wolverine vs Hulk mini?

Ok, I'm glad this thread surfaced. I wanna jump into the Ultimate Universe but I have no clue where to jump in. There are like 5 different books: UFF, UXM, UIM, USM, and Ultimates. Should I be reading all these books to understand this umiverse?(I like all of their 616 counterparts) I was already gonna buy all the TPBs for UXM.

In additon to UXM pick up USM. Ultimates is a good read, but I do not know much about UFF.

I got into the Ultimate books a while back. There are only 4 titles in the Ultimate Universe. The must have is defintely The Ultimates by Millar and Hitch.Ultimate X-Men is almost as good, the series is currently on a hot streak with the current arc.I've heard mixed things about UF4.I started picking it up at issue 21 where Millar and Land hopped on board.Great art and stroy telling. We're currently as issue 24 for UF4 so you're not too late. And for USM,I just started reading that lately. It's a pretty good book as well.

Ultimate Ironman any good?

That's just a mini-series.Joe Quesada had made it clear he wants to keep the Ultimate books at 4 titles. That's a smart idea.

Ok, so what number is everything on?

UFF is on 24
UXM is in the 60s

Yup.BUt don't feel intimidated.Even though UXM is on 64 and USM is on 86,these series' are still kind of getting started in my opinion.USM has yet to introduce many villains and UXM is in it's 12th or 13th arc.

Start reading UFF at iss 21 where millar and land started. That's where it really got good. The rest had terrible art which pretty much ruined the entire comic.

USM is really good. Some arcs were pretty lame, avoid -IRRESPONSIBLE-and -SUPERSTARS-.

Ultimates2 has been an Amazing ride.Ultimates1 was good, but not great. However Ultiamtes2 is superb.Wait till the hardcover comes out and purchase that.

UXM i only started getting at 55,where the longshot arc started and I perfectly understand everything. If your really intrigued by some arcs pick the trades up.If you don't just start at Magnetic North. All you really need to know is that Magneto was defeated and is being held captive in Triskelon.

UIM is a good read. Not need at all though. It all has to do with when Tony was a young kid,not much action, but a good storyline.

Ultimate nightmare and ultiamte secret are countdowns to Ultimate extinction, which is about the arrival of Galactus.

Ultimate wolverine vs Hulk is looking cool to,it has some pretty big ramifications on the universe,so I recommend it when it arrives.Plus, the writer co-created Lost.

Really?I loved Super Human and Homeland Security. The former was a great buildup with lots of characterization which is definitely needed for an ensemble book. The latter was great seeing them all work together as a team.

I was surprised with the first 3 issues of UXM,there wasn't much buildup, within the first 3 issues there were already 3 or more big action sequences.

Ultimates 2 is superb definitely. It's a lot more darker and epic than the first volume.Hulk has been "executed",Thor's been taken down,Hawkeye's "dead",and Cap was currently revealed as the "traitor".If that's not exciting,I don't know what is!

CS,you should check out the recent arc in USM entitled "Warriors".It's one of the best arcs in a long time according to alot of Spidey fans in their forum.

Ultimate Extinction, is that supposed to the big U-event like HoM and IC?

Yes it is.I tend to stay away from those however.

Not really. It's a standalone mini.

Basically Ultimate Galactus.

Maybe it's... Nearly Headless Vic. ;)

Though that could give us a creepy image of his mostly-decapitated head sewed back in place...
