THE DC BOARDS LOUNGE MARK 8.0

Alright fellas (and ladies now, woohoo!). The first [and second and third and forth and fifth and sixth and seventh] lounge has gone on long enough. Sometimes you want to go [again] where everyone [still] knows your username, ya' know? I figure we, the proud posters of the DC Comics boards (and some stragglers), possibly one of the tightest cliques on these forums [still] deserve the right to lounge. I mean, who else has ASSHAT? (am i [still] allowed to say that?)

Now we all [sort of] remember the catastrophe that was the Darth&Leaguer threads, and their unjust closings, and the glory that was the Original unOFFICIAL DC Boards Lounge [and unORIGINAL and unDISPUTED and unPREDICTABLE and unREAL and unDEAD], but we have the opportunity and right to talk [again] now about whatever is in our heads, unless it involves shoving things up a monkey's ass (or torrents), but that's neither here nor there. Also, we can't make jokes about rape, but we are free to joke about taffy and the sheds in which taffy is made all we want.

It appears we only get 1000 posts a thread now, so make them good.

F*** your Thread Manager.

* Don't harass the females.
* Be nice to the new kids.
* We can't make jokes about rape, but taffy and taffy-making is fair game.

Oh, and visit http://www.wompnation.com. Those bastards automatically renewed my hosting membership for a year, so it might actually get updated one of these days.

In terms of money vs art thing I believe it depends on the person.

Some people are happy to do something they love and get paid just enough to get by while some people will do things they hate just to get bigger paychecks.

everyone has their motivation....having grown up poor, Ill take the bigger paycheck any day....I couldn't afford dreams, just hoped to keep the rent paid

Yeah, pretty much what I was saying in regards to art. And the latter of that would be the modern definition of a hack. Kind of what all of this started as anyway, though I guess now it's transformed into just working in general now.

Having grown up a only child who pretty much always got what he wanted money and material wealth has never been a large motivation for me

My general hope is to be able to get by financially. Maybe a little here and there for luxury stuff, but I've never really had much desire to be rich. I'm actually kind of terrified of it, especially when you see what kind of effect it has on those who get wealthy. The only thing I would want money for is traveling, and you actually don't need to be filthy rich for that kind of stuff. I know someone in college who travels quite a lot. She's as broke as a joke most of the time, but she's still doing it.

we're all different

you get all Madoff in the brain

I'm not sure what this conversation everyone is having is about I just know that I'm like tronn I want enough money and to be able to keep up my hobbies but also like BL where I would like the big paycheck. In between would be nice.

It was about three fairly different, though somewhat loosely connected, things. Well, four now, with that I guess :oldrazz:

Gotcha, in other news Fright Night was pretty good.

I read that....Rise of the Planet of the Cavern of the Society of the Apes was pretty good too

Is travelling even that expensive these days anyway?

Everyone I know goes abroad atleast twice a year and most of them are not rich by a long shot.

You live in Europe. You could take the train and be abroad in an hour.

We're a bit land locked over here. :o

Terra Nova = rip off from Dino-Riders.

Terra Nova = proof Fox shouldn't say YES to every stupid idea that comes across the desk....

they get a lot of crap for cancelling stuff but a lot of that is stuff that every OTHER network has said NO to

I wanna see the first episode just to find out why they didn't just go back like, a 100,000 years ago when there weren't giant f**king monsters roaming the Earth. :o

Sure Terra Nova looks like it'll suck, but it'd be doomed even if it was a good show. Fox would skip its first episode, change its time slot at least twice, and fail to mention what night it comes on in any of their promos.

Pretty much.

That's what killed Human Target. :o

seriously....get the **** over it

Jesus wasn't on the cross this long and Nathan Fillion is on a proper grown up show now that has lasted more than 13 episodes

I don't know, I've heard many things about it and decided to watch the first look trailer.... it looks good.

Pretty much.

that and the 30 percent gradual drop in viewership over the course of the second season even though they had it on Wednesday nights (which is a night with very little competition)

I loved the show, but it shouldn't have been on network TV

Which is the reason why I've been to France atleast 12 times and yet never been to Scotland.

Takes an one and a half hours to go by train from London to say Lille, France and takes four hours to go from London to Edinburgh, Scotland.

Its quicker travelling abroad than travelling from one part of Britain to another.

Yeah, but if nobody knew it was even on Wednesday Night, then how was anybody to know it was now on Wednesday Night?

I always figured you got shows that people are gonna watch regardless, like American Idol or House. You don't need to show a commercial for them every other break. All you gotta do is show one for the new shows or lesser known ones a little more often. It's like they want them to fail.
