for nintendo? yes, yes it would be. they know full well that they've already lost that audience, and trying to fight for it now is going to be a waste of effort and resources. wii doesn't need a halo, it's got mario, zelda, and now sonic.

I'm sure if Nintendo announced a new console with the most up to date hardware, graphics, Full HD and maybe, just maybe include a HDD of any size gamers would take notice. Maybe I'm naive.

Id agree Darth...if Nintendo decided to release a grown up console, Id buy it

I'd be interested in a console like that. I don't even have a whole lot of brand loyalty to any of Nintendo's franchises other than Mario, but I'd certainly give new Zelda and Metroid installments a try if they came on an ungimped console that didn't try to reinvent a wheel I never particularly felt needed reinventing (i.e. the new console also had a standard controller option for all games, bar none).

then you are missing out. it's alot easier to get co-eds to play a wii than it is to get them to play x-box.

negro please...Im 31 now, Im not in that emotionally vulnerable state where I need my girl to play video games with me....go **** off and go shoe shopping, I'ma stay home and play RDR

Well as we grow up and our tastes become refined, it's not difficult to see why someone would want updated graphics and full HD for their console. At least.

I agree, though I'm not really feeling the hit there because I'm still using an old-style NTSC TV.

My only real problem with the Wii is the extremely limited flash memory. "Oh, sorry you ran out of memory after downloading a handful of old SNES games. Go buy yourself an SD card, kiddo." Bastards.

I mean for God's sake I'm thinking about spending $400 on a new console that I already own.

and that's what ticks me off about the Wii the most...you want to pioneer motion control thats fine, but don't cut out the traditonal controller all together

Well to be fair they do have a regular control pad, sold separately, batteries not included.

But there are several games that don't actually support that regular pad. The important ones like Smash Bros. usually do, but some are remote or bust.

Yeah, controllers have finally gotten to a point where they're pretty much perfect. I mean, the PS3 and 360 controllers are different from each other, obviously, but they have the same basic elements and developers have gotten used to pretty effective standards for mapping their games to those elements. We've reached the pinnacle of gamepad technology... so the big move at the moment is, of course, to abandon the gamepad altogether. Wait, what?

The Wii's wacky-tacky controls are great on Nintendo's own games. Mario Galaxy? Just shake the controller to do a Mario World spin. New Mario Bros? Just hold the remote sideways and use it like a regular controller. Smash Bros? I use the Classic Controller that looks like the lovechild of the SNES and Playstation controllers, and my friends use their own GameCube controllers. Zelda? Swing your wrist around a little to attack. I hardly notice it.

It's the third party games that bother the living hell out of me.
"Here, play this new 3rd party action game for the Wii!"
"Um... okay. How do I play it?"
"Swing the controller one way to walk, another way to attack, and point at the ground to access your inventory and pause."
"That sounds unnecessarily complicated."
"It is. Also, because our developers have never had to work with anything like this before, prepare for your movements to register incorrectly. In fact, you're better off just flailing your wrists like Rosie Perez in a Spike Lee movie."

I shouldn't have to play Johnny ****ing Limpwrist to play a Zelda game.....A button sword, B button Item, Y Button aim

not rocket science

yeah, nintendo knows it's the kid console so they work the hell out of that angle. wii's place is kids, casual gamers, and parties; it's not the machine hardcore gamers use and that's fine.

Not to mention Wii isn't even that expensive if you truly wish to play your Zelda, Mario, Metroid games and so forth. I'm definatly getting a Nintendo 3DS atleast. It will have a Batman game!

and when was the last time a proper Zelda game came out?? I hated Wind Waker, I hate cel shading in general, but to slap it on Zelda.....ugh

Twilight Princess was ok

I loved Wind Waker. Never understood how people could be so ******** over a different art style lol. :p

because it was ****....if you change styles, you're supposed to move forward, not backwards

Link looked like a ******ed lawn gnome

Cel shading works in some games better than others. Jet Grind/Set Radio? Genius. Zelda Wind Waker? Unnecessary crap.

I want to play through it

Noir segment looks :awesome:
It is Awesome to every extent.

Even if you dont like the games, Dragon Ball Z looks awesome Cel Shaded, other than that I have never seen another game that took this approach and had it look "good".

I hear on this last Metroid game, they made Samus into a whiny insecure sissy pants

That's what I heard. Decent character arc that's wholly inappropriate for a present-day Samus who's like 15 years into her bounty hunting career.
