Hello All!

So, I'm making this thread in hopes to alleviate a rather annoying trend I've been noticing.

"I think *insert character who many think will not be in movie* will be in TDKR!"

"THAT'S RIDICULOUS etc. etc. etc."

Now, I do agree, some of the suggestions can be a bit far fetched. ut I figured, why not make a thread to specifically discuss the characters who, while we all know they most likely won't be in the movie, may have an itsy-bitsy-teeny-tiny-eeny-weeny-chance. Also, this is not the really out there characters, but characters that could work in a Nolan film.

Again, to clairify, THIS THREAD IS JUST-FOR-FUN-SPECULATION. WE ALL KNOW THE CHARACTERS WE'RE TALKING ABOUT PROBABLY WILL NOT BE IN THE MOVIE. Intelligent and healthy debate is encouraged, but randomly popping in to say how stupid anyone is for even thinking so-and-so could be in the movie, is NOT intelligent debate.

So basically, let's have some fun and try to come up with ideas of how characters we would like to see in the upcoming movie could possibly fit. I'll start with a few of the most unlikely.

JGL as The Joker: Pretty obvious reason as to why this is unlikely. Nolan has stated he's not going to use the Joker. Is it possible he changed his mind or wanted to keep it a surprise? It's certainly possible, but not very likely. However, JGL is a good actor and has a similar look to Heath. There is no doubt this would be an enormous challenge though. He would have to be similar enough to Heath to make his Joker seem like the same character, but at the same time make it his own so he wasn't just imitating what Heath has done. Not an easy job, and even if he pulls it off, odds are there are still going to be plenty of people saying "Heath did it better."

JGL as Robin/Nightwing/Replacement-Sidekick character: We know Nolan doesn't seem to be a big fan of Robin. And he's obviously too old to play a classic robin type, but some have wondered if he's going to play a Jean-Paul type character and step in for Batman if Bats does indeed get put out of commission by Bane. The biggest problem I see with this is I don't know if there would be enough time to have that subplot going on while dealing with introducing Bane and Catwoman.

Two-Face: Obviously this has been a big debate after Eckhart's coy response to reporters. I could easily see him in a dream-like sequence, but bringing Harv back as a living breathing adversary seems like tough work after the end of TDK. I think they could do it, but the biggest problem with this, again, is character overload. We have not yet seen a well-done Superhero movie which has juggled three MAJOR villains. Again, let me reiterate, MAJOR villains. Yes, TDK had a butt-load of villains, but I don't count the Chechen, Gambol, Maroni, or the crooked cops as major villains.

Ra's: With all the LOS rumors being thrown around, it could be interesting to see Ra's back in the game. To have him actually be alive, it could be simple enough. He jumped out of the train before it crashed, sure he broke both his legs and had massive internal damage, but he's been recuperating for the past three years, building up the league again, and he's back to take on Bruce once more.

Anything's possible. I never would've guessed he'd include Holly (if she is indeed in the movie).

Hell, going all the way back to Begins, I never even expected to see Lucius Fox in one of these movies!

I really wish we could have more with the Chechen.

Vicki Vale played by Vanessa Hudgens. But more like the way Frank Miller wrote her as Slam Bradley did in "The Crime Blotter."

The Chechen must be included in the comics. Like, right now.

JGL as The Joker.
JGL as Robin.
JGL as Hugo Strange.
JGL as The Riddler.
JGL as Azrael.
Liam Neeson as Ra's al Ghul.
Aaron Eckhart as Two-Face.

Luscious Fox. Lucius Fox's second nightly life as a pimp.

JLG as The Joker. I'm so sick of the "no one should ever play Joker again" crap. Joker has been around for over 70 years. The character is bigger than Heath and, based on Heath's performance, he loved the character. If he loved the character, I'm sure he'd be against retiring the character. I'd love to see Bane break Batman's back and Bane himself take over the identity as Gotham's Protector. Joker escapes Arkham and works with Bane, causing the people of Gotham to go in despair. Batman returns from his injury and defeats them both to re-gain his image as Gotham's hero.

That's weird because I'm pretty sure nobody has ever said that ever.

No one is against The Joker ever being used again.

They are, in large, against The Joker being used again in this franchise, with this director - who has openly said that he is not comfortable with recasting the role that he felt Ledger nailed perfectly.

It would be nice, but Joker only playing a small part in the film...

*ponders* From my experience of the threads for quite the while now, knowing the tricks and educated guessing, or I like to call wishful thinking, I've come up with a few ideas that might actually be idealistic regarding JGL in TDKR.

That being said, I've so far deduced from interviews and this new piece of confirmation that JGL will be playing either a villain or old school Batman minor character. I could be wrong and they might just use someone a bit fresher to the comic media such as Black Mask, Alberto Falcone, Harvey Bullock, any of our favored persuasion that could work; and I'll say that either of those three are very possible.

I have a gut feeling however that whatever Oldman said about being a third villain going back to the days of the Joker and Two-Face, it gives me more limited thinking; which is what I believe everyone needs at this point. So without further to do, with doing a bit of research, looking and reading comic books that have revolved around my estimated story for TDKR, here is what I've come up with for ol' Joey:

Professor Hugo Strange-

Deadshot-

Firefly-

Now, I won't let that stop for other guesses though; I still hope we might get other mobsters or some more fleshier characters like Black Mask, Great White Shark, Harvey Bullock (interesting origin with sabotaging Gordon, hired by corrupt Mayor Hamilton Hill), it could be anyone! I'm sure either way thought we'll all be happy in the end; those are just my educated guesses though after some of the speculation after reading Prey, Knightfall, and taking slugs at ideas that I think Nolan would work in. :word:

That's weird because yes they have. Maybe no one on this site, BUT PLENTY OF PEOPLE IRL.

How about they don't retire the role forever, but just for this series of Nolan films? Heck, it's only one more. :O

Thats fine with me. I'm just extremely against retiring the character for good.

Okay, let me rephrase.

Batman fans and intelligent people in general are not against The Joker ever being used again.

And the idea of WB retiring the character is laughably naive. It's the ****ing Joker. I promise you he'll be in the next Batman franchise.

Lukas Haas has been rumored to appear in the film, and he would also make a rather convincing Joker once in makeup. Same body type, good actor...

...I think somewhere towards the end of TDKR I imagine we might see a scene akin to the decoy scene from The Killing Joke.

But for the record, I want more than a Joker cameo or mention.

Freak mobsters like The Penguin, Black Mask, Killer Croc, Great White Shark as minor characters (a la The Chechen, Gambol, etc.).

Janice Porter, Harvey Bullock, Sarah Essen.

Rupert Thorne and/or Tony Zucco.
