That's why our courts have a system of appeals. A case like this would definitely be fair game for the highest court, which are NOT Good Ol' Boys, and WOULD do something about it.

I actually think that we are slightly reverting a bit Mysti, I see Racisim everywhere I go (in and out of Missouri) and it just doesnt seem to change much here. It doesnt always have to be blacks vs whites either. The new race war seems to be whites vs Islam.

I agree....look at what happened to that poor cabbie in NYC, he gets asked "Are you a Muslim?" and gets stabbed for it

here in CT, someone decided to paint swatstikas (sp?) and racial slurs on a university campus, and here's the punchline, it happens on this same campus at least once every other year

the town I live in, an Eagle Scout project in park got trashed and swatstikas and racial slurs were spray painted on destroyed picnic tables and nearby trees

and this is just here in CT

Yeah, that's way I see it really. There will always be racism between blacks and whites to some degree, but that's really the thing that's starting to seep into the background big time nowadays.

I recently read Empire by Orson Scott Card, and yes it is fiction....but I wouldn' be surprised if something like that did actually happen....where we split along ideological lines and it came to actual confrontation

That kind of stuff happens all the time in real life, especially in third world countries. I really don't see it happening in any of the more modernized civilizations, at least not in the way you mean. Maybe in a post-civilization world, but that's that's an entirely different set of rules and standards to try and think about.
