Apropos of nothing, my friend keeps telling me that basketball, soccer, and hockey are all the same sport.

(Baseball fans, pfft.)

and that's just plain stupid....every sport is different, has its drawbacks and advantages

my granddad likes baseball and boxing, doesn't like any other sports

Baseball is the Superman of sports. Little corny but the greatest of all time.

...and Hockey is the ultimate evolution of ping pong. Basketball and soccer pale in comparison.

are you just throwing that in there to be edgy?? and then poo poo the rest of us for not knowing about it??

rugby and hockey are well above basketball, i'd put australian rules football in there somewhere, but i don't know how to play...tennis is WAY ahead of baseball, baseball being almost tied with soccer for most boring sport

That's crap. If we went and watched a day game at Wrigley Field you'd have a great time.

Boring? You're boring. :cmad:

I don't mind rugby, I know it has a very big international presence, but the perception here in the States is that rugby is for guys who get cut from the football team, *****ebags, and date rapists

Naw. It's hard to be edgy supporting that. The matches are hard to find, but they are pretty entertaining. It's like Sumo and Greco-Roman wrestling with punches. It's a good thing to watch if you're a wrestling fan, and wrestling is far from edgy since it looks "gay" to some people.

you don't go to baseball games to watch baseball though. you go for $1 drafts and to shoot the ****, which to me is the sign of a boring game

I go for the games....I have a very deep appreciation for baseball, its something that has actually bridged the gap between me and someone I used to hate

Basketball's pretty much the only sport I can maintain enough of an interest in to watch an entire game.

In far more interesting news, I just watched the DC Showcase DTV because I randomly came across Superman/Shazam on Netflix (by searching for "Marvel Studios," ironically). I had no idea this thing even existed, but it's awesome. The Spectre and Jonah Hex ones were by far the best. Superman/Shazam and Green Arrow's shorts were passable, and GA got an extra boost from Black Canary's appearance at the end. Best part of the whole thing was the following scene from Jonah Hex's short:

Hooker: You wouldn't hit a lady!
Hex: You ain't no lady.
(Punch to the face!)

:hehe:

the Spectre one was cool....hated the film grain thing they did

God invented HD and high quality transfers for a reason, a-holes

And He in His almighty wisdom invented homages for a reason too, dill-hole. :argh:

the grainy thing was on purpose though. they wanted to make it all nice and 70's horror-y. did all star superman get a showcase short?

so, tcm has a great line up this week!

laurence of arabia on wed, 12 angry men on thursday. love'em both

Just regular Superman, alongside Captain Marvel and Black Adam.
i know, i've seen it. i mean, did the all star superman dvd, entirely different than the superman/shazam release, get it's own showcase short like the previous releases did? i heard they were thinking about cutting them from future releases because superman/shazam didn't sell well (well no duh wb, you can expect people to double dip for 30 min of new footage

They stopped doing shorts because the sales on Superman/Shazam sucked. They shouldn't had those shorts in previous films tbh, giving them 2 mins of extra footage (making the actual dvd/bluray 30 mins of new footage for previous movie seers) not worth the price.

Ive developed quite the appreciation for Peter O'Toole, plus the story of T. E. Lawrence is quite fascinating....poet, military commander, explorer

But that movie will almost certainly have film grain, Blanty. How will you cope? :csad:

well that sucks. they were the only justification i could find for buying the deluxe or blu-ray versions of these films. i guess i'll just be getting the basic releases from now on (i don't care about a 15 talk about blackest night or whatever event is about to happen in the comics)

TCM is pretty good about having restored or remastered stuff....I recently bought the Coppola restoration versions of The Godfather I and II and they are awesome
