Just saw it today.....awesome!!!!! I was a little worried about Optimus having the flames, lips, etc., but it really did not matter at all. Most of the credit probably goes to having Cullen do the voice, but THAT WAS OPTIMUS PRIME!!!! Even saying stuff like "my bad", "what's your problem" etc. I thought he was very true to the character. I was a HUGE fan of transformers when I was a kid and that was definitely the same Optimus I remember from back then, when he said "autobots, roll out" and "one shall stand, one shall fall" I nearly wet myself!!!

Let me just say, im not a Transformers fan boy...just an average movie goer, who decided to check out the film toinght....I LOVED IT. FANTASTIC movie. Wicked effects, and just all around cool characters! i give it a 9/10.

I really enjoyed the movie, my only complaints are the ones that have already been stated numerous times (e.g. not enough robot character development, Decepticon screen time).

However, I did have one complaint before I finished the movie that was actually answered by the movie! When Frenzy was on Air Force One I was thinking "Jesus Christ, why can this robot connect perfectly with our computers and get everything they need," but then later they state that our technology was developed from reverse engineering Megatron. I thought that was a nice little touch.

LOL. You're not alone. The problem is that the movies huge weaknesses are being touted as its strengths. Like this review

Why Transformers Sucks But I Still Watched It Four Times
http://eyeris.blogspot.com/2007/07/why-transformers-sucks-but-i-still.html

Expect a whole lotta Pearl Harbors and Armageddons "summer blockbusters" in the next few years and a lot less X1's, X2's, Matrix's etc. People got tired of thinking.

I love how people were outraged over Spidey 3's flaws and screamed "Heresy! The franchise is ruined!" etc. Yet, for Transformers the reviews are like: "Acting sucked, story was lousy, not very good battle scenes: 10/10! Greatest movie of the summer!"

That and he can morph his appendages at will to fit into our sockets.

Sorry if these questions have been answered already but:

I just saw the movie for the 2nd time, love it again but there are unexplained plot holes, please help!!

How long have the Decepticons been on Earth? and why have they not looked for Megatron before? and for that matter, how long has Bumblebee been on Earth and why would Optimus send only one advance scout with so many Decepticons roaming around?

Did Sam putting his grandfather's glasses on the web trigger the Decepticons to out themselves? Is that why Blackout attacked?

How the hell did Sam learn how to use the Allspark to destroy Megatron?

Never stated clearly. We don't know how long BB and the decepts were there. We have no idea why the decision was made to send BB and BB alone at first.

Did Sam putting his grandfather's glasses on the web trigger the Decepticons to out themselves? Is that why Blackout attacked?

Frenzy found Sam via his eBay profile after learning that his Great Grandfather had found Megs after he'd hacked the government's defense files.

How the hell did Sam learn how to use the Allspark to destroy Megatron?

He didn't "learn" how to use it so much, it was more he just thrust it at his chest and Megs absorbed it. He knew to at least attempt this because Op told Sam sticking it in his (Op's) chest would destroy himself and the cube, a last resort type of defense.

You're attempting to find logic in a black hole devoid of any.

Why did Optimus yell "Sam, don't!" when Sam was about to do it though? Hearing Optimus MuthaFracking Prime yell at me "don't" would stop me in my tracks. :cwink:

Saw it Tuesday. Better than I thought it'd be. It was awesome.

I just got back from the film;

I loved it! I loved the story, the action, the special effects. The transformers were clearly awesome, I liked the human characters. I only have minor complaints, some of the action scenes were hard to follow (Shaky cam), and although I liked the humour, they injected way to much. But other then that, I loved the film. I think I will go see it again tomorrrow. I think an 8/10 is a fair score, IMO.

Well for me the movie wasn’t quite T.I.N.O., but it was damn close. It was T.W.A.U.C. which stands for Transformers with a lot of useless crap. I honestly wasn’t expecting a space epic nor a close rendition of G1, I just wanted to see a fun film about Autobots and Decepticons fighting each other on Earth. Instead to my horror I witness a bunch of mind-numbingly stupid, boring, and badly acted subplots which go absolutely nowhere and seem to be directly lifted from other poorly made Michael Bay films. The Transformers are the reason people came out to see this and dammit that is what we should have gotten, central characters not action props. They should carry the film with the Sam character providing the human point of view. Sam was the only human character I didn’t want to die, which I think has more to do with the actor than the terrible script. Letting the robots do their thing would have been infinitely better than this two and a half hour action movie cliché.

True dat.

That's too bad. I saw a fun film about Autobots and Decepticons fighting each other on Earth. :)

If their names weren't Autobots and Decepticons or Optimus and Bumblebee, etc-- but everything else was the same, would it still be as good?

This is a very interesting question. And I think it does make a good point...

But I'd also say that if this was the greatest sci-fick I've ever seen without them, I'd know in my head it would have been even better if it WAS the Transformers.

It's the nostalgia. So removing the nostalgia from the equation should naturally make it a less pleasurable experience no matter what.

Also, aren't you describing Space Jox? ;) Okay, no, but I dug that movie when I first saw it and felt like name-dropping.

Can someone list down the battle matches? As to who fights who and who dies in what battles? I couldn't really tell.

I couldn't really tell.

I'm fairly certain that beyond the Optimus wasting Bonecrusher and Megs shredding Jazz, nobody could tell either.

Well, except for the Army guy on a crotch rocket dump sliding it underneath and taking out Blackout (I think) with one grenade round.

Eek that sounds terrible when described in print. Maybe 'cause it was...?

For me this was like the Star Wars prequels, there are just too many layers of crap to call the film fun even in a dumb action movie sort of way. Although I am being unfair to the prequels, which at least had some intelligent ideas and weren't totally hallow at the core like this one was.

According to The Movie Prequel comic book, Bumblebee arrived on Earth in 2003 in Colorado The Decepticons also arrived in 2003 (It's unkown were they laned,)

Sounds to me like you're being overly generous to the prequels. At least if we're doing an Ep.1 to Ep.1 comparison.

Question...who was the green autobot standing around in the background as Prime was addressing the troops and Sam?

How did Optimus kill Bonecrusher and how did Megatron kill Jazz? I forgot!
