I remember when people were saying that ILM was losing to WETA in the CG dept. ILM is still on top of their game, with Davy Jones and now Optimus, who looked pretty much photorealistic, complete with giving him some weight, the reflections and scratches, etc. I can't wait to see the making of DVD.

I just got back from the movie and here's the short version of my take on things.

Like every single review made on this movie has stated, the cgi and action is pretty unbelievable. If there is any praise to be given to this movie, it's the effort put into the fx.

I am an artist by nature. I am drawn to the visual beauty of everything around me, but I am very driven by logic. Logic ,however, is almost nonexistent in this movie. The plot for Transformers has more holes in it than Denzel Washington at the end of Training Day. While I laughed at some of the comedy, it almost became a chore to even try and smile at the jokes made as the film went along.

Optimus Prime was perfect in every way except the mouth and dialogue. His speeches, beautiful and flawless; his slang, uncalled for. Bumblebee was just as I expected him, great. I didn't give a crap about any of the other Autobots or Decepticons because that's how they seemed to be written. Of all the jawdropping fights, not a single one left me satisfied as to how they ended. It felt as if there was no heart put into the deaths of the Transformers, especially Jazz. I just didn't care anymore near the climax for anything except the cgi.

All in all, it was an alright movie. It's without a doubt the most visually enticing movie of the summer so far. But I'll be damned if it's the best movie of the year as people on here have proclaimed. I swear, people can just exxagerate out the ass. I loved 300 more than Transformers, but i'm not gonna blindly put it on the "greatest movie of all time" pedestal.

I'm not gonna give it any stars and ****. Just take this review as it is.

What a hack that guy...im so sick of people's excuse for enjoying a movie saying it's "brainless fun". What are they zombies? What kind of dumb remark is that, for facks sake, cut the ****e out already...you either like it or you don't there's not "but...uhm" excuses, make a damn opinion of your own without worrying what others thing. Holy crap man...

So does the world now know that Aliens exist, or is the whole incident gonna be covered up? If the world now knows then there's no reason to be in disguise. If the world doesn't know then there was a hell of alot of witnesses to the TFs existance during the finale. Plus just about everyone heard BB state he was staying with Sam, so it's not like he can really hide. What's the deal with this?

I didn't like the way they left this hanging.....

Loved this movie!

Could have done without John Tutoro and some of the hacker scenes.

But, overall it was a great film.

Michael Bay and Co. have really created something great! Hopefully a sequel will fix some of its flaws and make it even better!

9/10

That was just everyone jumping on the Peter Jackson/LOTR bandwagon. It was then proceeded by the endless "Peter Jackson is overrated" posts which were followed with the "Calling Peter Jackson overrated is overrated" posts.

I thought this movie was just....muh. To me, it just seemed like a big budget parody of the transformers. I mean, I'm all for some comedy in action flicks, but I paid to see giant robots fight each other, not them stumble around in a backyard and chit chat. I thought the movie was good, but, nobody takes anything to seriously anymore, like ghost rider, spider-man 3. It seems they're poking fun at the characters more then honoring them. IDK, maybe I'm just boring, but a lot of people enjoyed Batman Begins and 300, and those were way more serious. I just wish it was something along those lines. Plus the ending seemed really tacked on. Like they ran out of money on the final battle and realized they still had to kill off megatron. But I'll still buy it on DVD and watch it many times. And I hope there's a sequel.

300 wasn't serious. At all. And for god's sake how seriously do you want a movie based on a toy line to be?

Wait, why doesn't he want his "boys" to think a girl is hot?

I wasn't quite a fan of how they killed off Megs either. While I could see the progression given all that military presence around the area, they could have played it up a bit more. The beam didn't so much as go through him or even make him explode from the overload. It just poured into his spark and that's all she wrote. But...there's definitely going to be a sequel. So the fat lady hasn't quite sung yet.

300 wasn't a comedy either. I seen it a bunch of times in theatres and nobody laughed like they did during this. But like I said, I'm just boring. So, yeah. It's a toyline, you could make it into anything you want it to be. Bay took this route. no big deal. Just my opinion.

They did say the Goverment covered it up didn't they? Or did I hear wrong?

As serious as the cartoon and comic tried to be and were most of the time. (Don't point out Carwash of Doom... even Deep Space Nine had its filler "Tribble" episode). Transformers wasn't Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, after all.

You never read the TMNT comics which the cartoon and movies were based on did you?

Darthphere makes a very good point- TMNT's comic was incredibly dark, and fans have been asking for years for the cartoons and films to reflect it. I think only the recent film has come that close, and even then it was still PG.

I mean, I'm not a huge Transformers fan or anything but I've seen enough episodes to know that some people here glorify the **** out of that cartoon and it was pretty damn cheesy back in the day.

As serious as it can be.

How serious is that?

The Transformers animated movie from '86 or '87 was pretty dark, serious, and epic. I wanted the movie along those lines.

It is cheesy only in hindsight. At the time it was surrounded by Smurfs and Donkey Kong type cartoons.... and it was pretty serious which is why it resonated and sparked a whole slew of copycat "serious toned" cartoons. This movie didn't have to go the Teenage Mutant Ninja (cartoon) route... that's all I'm saying.

The constant humor just took me out of the movie. I don't mind a little here and there... but boy oh boy...

That's right... or at the very least the first miniseries which introduced everybody to Transformers.

Unless you want to make the argument that a scorpion based robot stabbing a dude and shooting metal discs killing several secret service agents is "cartoony".

No. But the credit card in the desert and nose-picking outsource guy is in that same scene is. Dude, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1988 movie was more serious and moving than this movie. And I'm not saying that to be funny... it really is.

No you're saying that to be stupid. That's a ridiculous statement. I mean come one for god's sake, the animated Transformers movie had Spike in a ****ing robotic space suit, please, get over it. It had some comedic elements. OMG! It's not serious enough! Get over yourself, please.

Because a space suit with robotic elements is unrealistic? When were you born? At the same time as Superman?
