It was funny but since i knew it was coming it wasn't AS funny as when i saw it the first time.

You know the more i see the movie, the less little things bother me. Like BB's voice at the end. Saw it today, and can't understand now why i hated it the first time i saw it.

I would still prefer it if he was mute, as i thought that added a touch of cuteness to his character..but whatever now.

Another thing; what did the prequel comic say about the length of time the Decepticons having been on Earth..? In the beginning right before Blackout attacked the base, one of the soldiers says that the chopper Blackout chose for his alt mode, had been shot down 3 MONTHS EARLIER. Does that mean the Decepticons have only been on Earth for that length of time? Or did Blackout change his previous alt mode, and had been there for years like BB?

Ok ...............

Finally seen it. I give it 8/10 ... Does what it says on the tin and left me wanting more.

The effects were incredible, the level of detail deserves high praise. Bay has created genuine, living machines and I accepted the new looks almost right away ... Prime, what can I say ?? ... The voice, the leadership, all spot on, they really did bring him to life.

The acting was 99% good .... sometimes very good, Shia brilliant in every scene. The comedy did come thick and fast but only once did it make me groan. Movies like this can live or die on how much effort the actors make and thankfully they all seemed to 'let go' and just get sucked into the fun.

The music was cool and managed to pass the 'goose-bump' test several times ........

Minor problems for me included .... The Decepticons .... I loved them but they simply had no screen time. It seemed like they were planning things but because Bay focussed on the kids and what was happening to them at any given time we can only imagine the rest. Starscream needs a serious role in the sequel!

The hackers/sector seven .... slightly too much screen time awarded to them ....

In all .... wonderful. Bay has created just about the ultimate family summer movie .... It had 30-40 brats sat in awe and silence for over 2 hours. It creates a fresh landscape for new fans and has enough nods/winks to please old-school Transformers geeks like myself.

If you can't just lean back, relax and simply ENJOY this I pity you. Growing up sucks!

That's easily the funniest scene of the whole movie and funnier than all of Evan Almighty.

Truer words have never been spoken. Evan Almighty was terrible AND cost more than Transformers to make. Lol.

I think this was the surprise hit of the summer. No one thought it was gonna be this good and it just came out of nowhere and wowed people. Its gonna win a lot of awards for Special efffects an from next years MTV movie awards(Especially Shia). It was an action packed movie with heart and real people in the story. Its just feels like a natural hit.

Well, I saw it today. It gave me what I wanted which was a movie that had huge robots beating the crap out of each other and the environment around them.

The effects were uncanny, definitely deserves the Oscar for best effects next year. The detail, movements, etc were all fluid and vivid. The action was intense and definitely had me on the edge of my seat.

The acting, well, mostly good except for Fox. Good grief, someone give that girl acting lessons. Every scene she was in was cringe worthy. I know I'm going against the grain here because everyone thinks she's hot but they only picked her to be the eye candy. And am I the only one who thinks the Australian computer girl was hotter than Fox? I mean, Fox is pretty but I don't see why everyone is all going nuts over her.

Anyways, moving on, the story was a bit thin but I wasn't expecting more than that. This was about the Transformers and they were spot on. Prime was amazing, perfect in everyway. Like livrule said, the voice and leadership were all spot on and that did make me very happy.

It's a great popcorn flick and a good film.

A solid 8/10 from me.

I really enjoyed this movie

The multiple parallel stories (shia's being the best...hackers being the meh)
-that syle of story telling opens the film up to a wider audience... for example my uncle really didn't care for shias stuff...but he loved the army stuff...and in that concept, lies the truth in why most ppl found something to love about this film

the comedy wasn't anything special, but it wasn't bad....that's me personally...my audience loved it
I actually loveddd anderson and his cousin...
I think letting Shias cynicism shine through was a great decision (note how he handles the jock)

the first transformation scene had wonderful execution...the tension was built up and i could see the audience just teeming for it...it was shot so wonderfully...and then about 3 seconds into it...u heard the SOUND...that's when this became a transformers movie...
all those days us kids watched that stuff...who'd have thought it worked this way in real life..
I envy all the kids watching this movie (more on that later)

megans best scenes were when she was in the car other than that she was meh

the parents kicked ass...and played well with the audience(note the scene when shia pulls away and leaves the dust in his wake)

the satans camero angle was fresh to Transformers...and it sold the narrative imo.
that one scene of shia riding through surburbia on a pink bike with an empty car chasing him is very magical

robots outside the house, though pointless...played so well to the audience...u just wanna see what the get into next...these machines of mass distruction are tip toeing around a house set piece...u don't get much of that executed with skill these days

The robots...simply put...they worked, and that's that

the final battle was cinema fully realized...if u have the chance to watch that sequence with an audience u'll see a captivated audience through and through...
the only part that was badly edited to a point of confusion was interestingly enough the conclusion to it...i'm still not sure visually what happened to magatron

There are 3 money shots in this film...and they all take place during the finale battles...
that one with the girl in the blue will never be topped untill this movie sequel i promise(and only if it's bay)

WHAT could have been improved

cybertron looked like something tim story would have come up with...sorry but it was weak...and nothing new or inspiring...

the cut out robot personalities...i understand they learned how to talk from SHH message boards and such things on the web...but they needn't have gotten their personalities from here as well
that's one area that could have made this film complete

[for example..if Iron hide was a real character...a war hardened vet with contempt for all things save his oldest ally and leader...he see humans as nothing(opposite Prime) but interference to the goal..optimus has to bark him out on a particular occasion...then in the final battle he loses his life saving certain bystanders(which includes a shot of over the shoulder low angle camera from humans just saved looking through the three holes starscream just made in the character)...that would have lead to a real death

but i understand that kids loved the simple straight forward characterizations(no more simple than ET himself imo)...it made sense, cause we got about 4 characters that weren't simple to hold our interest

jazz's death was meh

sector seven was good on paper...i mean it had to be there for this story to work...but Tuturo weakened this movie

Cgi as always...works better during the day than at night

lastly (and u knew it was coming)

this movie owes alot to the directing...bay made his own movie with alot of ppl judging him along the way...sure the critics have there usual (same reviews i've been reading for the past 10 years) agendas and low scores to give(see RT score)...but what i see when I watch the audience scream and laugh and cheer and applaud at the end is a movie not made to appease analysts that call themselves so called judges of an art medium...i see a movie take it's audience for a journey...it's a visual one but it's anchored by one hell of a protagonist..and narrated by one hell of a voice actor

the movie looked fantastic (maybe even the best up till this date)...the things it looked just as good when the cg wasn't there...
why is it that my friend said that the bonecrusher scene looked was just bliss...that's cause when u take out the bots...it's still dynamic and powerfully lit...
that's what the director did...(the story was two other ppl)
I'd love to see singer do that scene...it'd cost twice as much and be twice as fogettable...

(I'm curious as to how the car modes look if a robots has severe damage)

bay has improved as story teller...his "Bay shot" this time was Bernie mac...as u can see it wasn't just a pointless glame shot of the hero...it was a character having an emotional reaction to his SURROUNDINGS...

I envy the kids who seen this...when ur a kid u don't watch movies u experience them...u see the screen as a window to something that's really happening somewhere someplace else...
Kids everywhere are watching this, the most visually realized explosive entertaining comic like film to come out since spiderman and before that jurassic park...their walking out of the theater and watching black pick ups drive by with wide eyes...their looking forward to that first car experience...and What are we doing

this movie needs to be watched on the bigscreen with 6.0 sound...and it's better the second time...(the action anyways, not so much the comedy)

Ok. I finally saw it Saturday night on a digital projector. Ok some background on me. I recognize a movie for what it is (serious, comedy, popcorn, action, etc). I've been excited about this movie since the final trailer. I was more excited about SM3 and Pirates...which totally blew. I was into transformers as a wee lad. There is background. Honestly, in this genre, this is my favorite movie ever, Perfect balance of action and comedy. I'm going at least 2 \more times. For all those that accused him...no Bay did not ruin your childhood...he helped it by promising you 2 sequels to your favorite child franchise...

I bet alot of people have already stated how they didn't care for Jazz's death or whatever.

I knew from the beginning that this movie wasn't going to be good story wise, for the simple fact that Michael Bay (a director who stated himself he has not a clue about what "Transformers" is actually about) directed this. Now don't get me wrong. I enjoy all Michael Bay films. The guy knows how to do action, and that's what he delivered on....too bad that is ALL he delivered on. I'll admit I enjoyed the film alot, but it really annoyed me how rushed and terribly put together everything seemed (in my opinion).

Bumblebee just popped out of nowhere.

Frenzy was pretty annoying.

For me, the movie didn't pick up until Barricade showed up. Before then we were delivered with bad humor. Well, not entirely bad, but just the type of humor that would make someone think that some kid still in grade school wrote the dialogue.

I for one LOVED when all the Autobots were shown coming together. The music they played to go along with it....fantastic! Optimus Prime having lips annoyed me to no end. He just looked dumb. And I hated it when he went all "we have no choice but to let Bumblebee rot". They could've gotten Bumblebee out without harming the humans and they know it.

I HATED the Sector 7 guy. His jokes were just not funny at all. That's another thing that ruined the movie for me at times. The so-called "humor" was there at the wrong times. Shia was great, though.

Megan Fox is hot. She doesn't need to know how to act. 'Nuff said.

I hated how it took FOR-freakin-EVER for other Decepticons to show. And then when we finally get them, Bonecrusher gets his head cut off in his first 2 minutes of screen time. And Starscream...he didn't even act like Starscream (but maybe if they do a sequel he'll return as the new leader of the Decepticons).

The way they altered the Allspark in this movie confused me. So it gives life to mechanical objects and vending machines (I hated that scene, by the by)? So when it gave life to the Autobots, were they already mechanical objects on Cybertron or something? And I, for one, thought it just looked down right stupid how the Allspark transformed into that little cube. And when Bumblebee got close to it, how come he didn't get an upgrade like Frenzy did or something?

Jazz was awesome. 'Nuff said.

I didn't like Anthony Anderson's character. There really was no need for him. And I'm getting sick and tired of the typical fat, 30 something year old hacker guy that still lives with his mom. It's getting very, very old now. And was it me, or did that chick's accent (the friend of Anthony's character) seem incredibly fake? It just sounded REALLY fake to me.

But uh yeah, the movie was enjoyable (only for the effects and some of the dialogue was quite funny, like the "What's crackin', *****es?" line) but characterization wise...it could've been better.


Overall, I rate it a 7.8/10

Well aside from your precious G1, I'd say you're knowledge is very limited. Remember Transformers is NOT just a cartoon from the 80s and has been continually adapting for 20 years now, not in a continual fashion like X-Men or Spider-Man. When you make a movie about them you're naturally adapting from the comics, since any media is inspired by that 616 Universe (perhaps now you could argue in the Ultimate version), but back when X1 was made all their was to adapt was 616 X-Men. With Transformers any and all movies are adapting 20+ years of inconsistent and unrelated media. And the result of Bay's studying and Orci and Kutzman love of the franchise is more than apparent. All the key elements are there. Protoforms, Sparks, Cybertron, Megatron, Optimus, Civil War, the "Matrix" (which is often referred to in Transformers as the Allspark), the Decepticons and the Autobots...but the origin, the toys, the characters...those things have always been and will always be subject to change in the Transformers Universe. It's sad how so many people still think that little cartoon in the 80s is all there is worth telling about Transformers.

I truly believe that G1 is the 'foundation' of Transformers, period. Yeah, there have been many incarnations over the past 20 + years, but what gets me is that ppl know Beast Wars or RID more than they know G1, or not at all!

It's like saying you understand Jehovah's witnesses but no nothing about Christianity or the Bible.

G1 'IS' TRANFORMERS. The many incarnations after it were just created to freshen what was already established.

Not sure what ya mean bud, but the first time Prime spoke in my theatre, i thought Elvis Pressly had came back from the dead...the applause was that loud. so loud i missed some of the dialogue that came after it. That my friend is because of Cullens voice which = to G1 love, 100%!:heart:

Doesn't surprise me, think about it. Transformers is a children's cartoon. G1 ran from 1984-1987, meaning between 1987 and 1996 there was no NEW Transformers show. Meaning if you were 6 through 12 when Transformers was cancelled you were 16 through 22 when BW came back and brought a slew of new ones after. The reason Transformers cartoons run for 3 or 4 seasons then quit is because children grow up, and ultimately you must appeal to the next demographic. Star Trek or Star Wars, being a more mature franchise, lets say, can bank on old fans from the 70s watching the new films. Transformers though, which is aimed directly at kids, can only hope for young audiences and many some fans. That is starting to change as cartoons are starting more and more to become adult forms of entertainment, but by and large Transformers incarnations are only known by those who watch them. I.e. Armada will be dominant in about 10 or 12 years, whereas just now we are seeing Beast Wars make a comeback (will be guest starring several times on the new toon and is getting a new ongoing comic soon).
