I was never all that impressed with the Special Effects in SM2. The train scene was good, but everything else was pretty much mediocre to average. For a Spider-Man film, I expect a hell of a lot better, Spider-Man's VFX becomes dated after only a few years. While Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park holds up for damn near 2 decades or more. The problem is the visual effect company. Sony Imageworks is simply not up to par with WETA, ILM or even DIGITAL DOMAIN. Once Sony realizes this and actually hires the best people (and VFX company) for the job, its VFX will become 10 times better than it once was.
Sony having their own VFX company (Sony Imageworks) is their worst enemy against quality visual effects, that are consistent throughout all the new Spider-Man films.
