Looks a hell of a lot like the next John Carter, so far.
futuristic Mr Tumnus with blakc eye liner.
All his missing is some goat legshe looks like a fairy tale creature. a modern futuristic Mr Tumnus with black eye liner.

Once this flops, I wonder if the Wachowskis will revisit the Matrix franchise. At least we know Keanu is desperate enough to make another one of those at this point.
I don't think they have a lot of interest in it really. I know they've been asked about it, but I think the response has always sort of been 'Meh, nah' in summing up. For better or for worse, they seem to want to continue making different stuff.
or they could make smaller movies.
or they could make smaller movies.
After 1 or 2 more big budget flops, I don't think they'll have the opportunity to continue making different stuff like this. Hence reverting back to their cash cow.
That is not what I meant. What I am saying is they rip off anime and video games. They did the same with The Matrix films. It isn't an "inspired" by situation. It is a "I have seen that design before" situation.hmm...
i agree with DS about the Wachowskis "ripping off" their own imagery, but since it's their imagery, i suppose that's allowed. it's not at a John Woo/doves/slow-mo with 2 guns level yet. at the same time, i also feel like there's something about this trailer that makes the movie look a lot different from most other Wachowski movies. the cinematography and color schemes look a bit looser, not quite as stringently stylized as a lot of their other movies. well, at least not as much as The Matrix movies or Speed Racer.
in terms of the actual content of this trailer, well, i'm both intrigued and non-plussed. i've been wanting to see the Wachowskis let loose in a new, original sci-fi world for a while now and this trailer does nothing to damper my enthusiasm for that. i think they are at their best when they are exploring fresh concepts, aesthetics, and world-building that they have a hand in as opposed to trying to develop characters or narratives or adapt other people's ideas. of course, maybe i'm just basing this off the fact that i really like The Matrix and all their other movies, not so much (well, i like Bound, too, but that's almost like a different conversation).
so, unsurprisingly, this teaser has me pumped about the concepts and visualization of this new world the Wachowskis will be bringing to the screen while shrugging with indifference at the general story and characters. and, yes, everything about Tatum's performance/character looks kind of silly and bad, but it is only a teaser so i will try to suspend judgment.
