Absolutely yes. Especially the part with the uneccecary civillian losses and the house burnings. Its the same story over and over again.

It's more "they pose a threat to our liberties and freedoms, we have to go beat them up before they have a chance to attack us"

I've read two interesting historical fantasy novels regarding the Thirty Years' War in Europe and the French Revolution:

The Warhound and the World's Pain and The City in the Autumn Stars. Thought you chaps might be interested in them.

They might be able set off a dirty bomb in the docks in California. Wait for it to cause chaos then attack from the air and invade by land, but I don't think they would ever be able to put down all the resistance and hold it. The South would pose the most militia threat. I live on the East Coast, and the Appalachian offers a sturdy defense against ground troops. I know the hills well, and could conceivably survive the length of an invasion if need be. Many in this part of the country can make the same claim. Some have some crazy weapon stashes and the know how to construct formidable means of defense and offense. Then you have the miltary bases and large military personel, and when you factor in the sheer size of the country I don't see a ground invasion being practical. Nuclear weapons and bombs would be the only way, but for that we have our missle defense shields which would need to be taken offline.

True that. I know, I grew up in such a family, I am from the South (ironically though, my family are the product of German, Italian and Irish immigrants) and well, we know how to hunt, turn anything into a weapon, and to live off the land, this country gal was born to survive!

That bit worries me. Many would find that real combat is not all unlimited sprint and featherlight guns. I fear we have created a generation of armchair rambos who would get themselves killed quickly. If we ever are invaded the best thing the civillian population can do is forget about Call of Duty. They must look to their true champion, FPSRussia.

Well, if it makes you feel happier, all the kids that I know who black ops are also avid paintball game players, so they are learning to use their tactics in a real life setting.
