SM1 was a fun, charming, warm, cool action adventure flick, with good pacing & exiting action. It had heart, although in places - corny dialog (some might say that's a part of its charm).
SM2 was a much bigger and more stylish film (not saying that SM1 was without!). It had way cooler effects and way cooler plus more jaw-dropping fight sequences! That whole clock-tower/train battle - DAMN! Some of the coolest and most badass **** I've ever seen - I kit you not! The story was relevant, had meaning and was very well written and beautifully executed! At places it reached epic levels. Definitely the best of the whole bunch.
SM3 had the potential of becoming the best and darkest of the whole bunch. It had all the story elements at its disposal! Sadly, it was a mess. Raimi took the most badass story arc in the spidey universe and turned it into a damn farce. Big no-no. He had too much money on his hands and lost sight of what made the first two films work so well. We all know this, so I won't comment on it any more.
The Raimi films had their time. They stand fine on their own. But these are new times. I to thought it sounded weird when I heard Sony was already Rebooting the crown-jewel of Marvel's motion picture spidey franchise! But it didn't take long before I started to understand WHY, and that it had serious freaken potential... I'm so psyched for this flick, and I think ones the film is released, people who didn't think much about this to begin with will see the bigger picture. Here's to hope!
