The Amazing Spider-Man The "why reboot the Spider-Man franchise" Thread?

I'm not leaving..lol.
I was just expressing my opinion...don't see what was wrong with that.
And I never said it was gonna be just like Twilight..

Your opinion is wrong. This whole "OMG IT LOOKS LIKE TWILIGHT" idea holds absolutely no weight. Give me 5 valid reasons that support this belief and I will gladly leave you alone. And no, Peter Parker's hairstyle is not a valid reason.

It's just my speculation...
I don't know if it's gonna be like Twilight or nothing like it....
And I preferred if they just made Spiderman 4 instead.

You can't speculate something when there's literally nothing to support it. You're clearly just viewing the film in a negative light because Spider-Man 4 was cancelled...

I'm extremely happy that there won't be any more Raimi Spider-Man films. This reboot is very welcome!

You're right...I'm seeing the movie in negative way because I wanted Spiderman 4 instead.
Well I'm just not hyped for this movie..lol..I'm not hyped for any movies these days..
I just prefer older movies...

Fair enough, but people need to cool it with the Twilight comparisons. There's literally nothing indicative of a Twilight vibe in this film. Not to mention that his hairstyle comes from a certain man known as James Dean, one of the most badass men in history:

I thought the whole Twilight thing died down. :csad:

Messy hairstyle, moody atmosphere (first promo pic) = SPILIGHT

...The **** is wrong with people?

Agreed. As much as I love the Raimi films, I cannot WAIT to see a Spider-man movie with the Green Goblin and Venom used to their full potential.
Regardless of how much I love Spider-man 1, the GG suit did resemble a power ranger costume. And venom was just....awful.
Can't wait to see them done right.

I think that Venom was a mixed bag. Topher Grace does well with the material he's given, but the story just doesn't have the time to make Venom shine after going through their origin story, and what time he does have, he keeps peeling his face back, undermining any menace he might have had.
Otherwise, I agree.

Trust me venom is gonna be in these movies. Peters parents are in this and in the ultimate comics their biggest project was the suit. Trust me venom will be hear somewhere. Infact I think he's the reason for this reboot.

I hope so.

Which is why I hope (if they do it) they'll span the whole symbiote/cancer suit story over two movies.

Why is this thread even in the "spoiler" section? I'm really getting sick of fanboys of the Raimi franchise constantly coming into this section and bringing their redundant opinions about how this movie shouldn't happen... or comparing it to Twilight no less. It's happening, no amount of whining is going to change it, so constantly trashing it in this section only inconveniences the fans that are looking forward to it! Please just take it somewhere else.

I have seen the Twilight movies (don't judge me) and I have read the books (stop judging me) so I can say with absolute certainty that the comparisons are ridiculous. Anyone who says otherwise is clueless and/or a hater.

Mundane universe of Spider-Man? Words escape me... I just... What?

Mundane in the sense that no one has magical or mystic powers. In the movies thus far, everyone gets their powers through science. That kind of mundane.

I didn't even know "mundane" has two definitions:

"Of this earthly world rather than a heavenly or spiritual one."

I guess that's what Thundercrack meant.

I thought he meant that it's boring too. lol

SM1 was a fun, charming, warm, cool action adventure flick, with good pacing & exiting action. It had heart, although in places - corny dialog (some might say that's a part of its charm).

SM2 was a much bigger and more stylish film (not saying that SM1 was without!). It had way cooler effects and way cooler plus more jaw-dropping fight sequences! That whole clock-tower/train battle - DAMN! Some of the coolest and most badass **** I've ever seen - I kit you not! The story was relevant, had meaning and was very well written and beautifully executed! At places it reached epic levels. Definitely the best of the whole bunch.

SM3 had the potential of becoming the best and darkest of the whole bunch. It had all the story elements at its disposal! Sadly, it was a mess. Raimi took the most badass story arc in the spidey universe and turned it into a damn farce. Big no-no. He had too much money on his hands and lost sight of what made the first two films work so well. We all know this, so I won't comment on it any more.

The Raimi films had their time. They stand fine on their own. But these are new times. I to thought it sounded weird when I heard Sony was already Rebooting the crown-jewel of Marvel's motion picture spidey franchise! But it didn't take long before I started to understand WHY, and that it had serious freaken potential... I'm so psyched for this flick, and I think ones the film is released, people who didn't think much about this to begin with will see the bigger picture. Here's to hope!

Agreed, Naite.

I think pretty much EVERYONE was a little unsure when we found out there was going to be a reboot.

Honestly, the first promo still is what won me over. Just the overall atmosphere and mood in that one picture was just...awesome.
