I'm honestly just happy at this point that Leo finally got a nomination, I'm almost positive he won't win but the nomination says it all.

Holy ****, this movie was incredible. Completely electrifying performances from Leo and the rest of the cast, and masterful direction from Scorsese. Despite the three hour runtime, you never once feel the lag and Martin managed to keep it entertaining throughout, unlike with American Hustle. I hope this wins some major awards but I'm not holding out hope. 10/10

The fact that this movie was nominated at all slightly restored my faith in the Academy.

Well to me at best it helps mitigate the fact that American Hustle got 10 nominations, a movie that I'm well on the record with in that I don't think it's a good movie at all.

Normally I don't even watch the films that get Oscar noms but this year I saw 3(Gravity which I liked/ AH, which I very much did not/ and TWoWS, which I loved).

Three hours does seem a little excessive but I can't think of anything that ought to have been cut. Everything in the movie was either highly entertaining or necessary to move the plot forward, or both.

In the Actor category, the only other movie I've seen so far is 12 Years, and to be honest I'd have to give the edge to Leo over Chiwetel in this case.

The acting categories are all powerhouse categories this year, no bad choices anywhere though.
