The Wolverine The Wolverine Unleashed Extended Edition Blu-Ray: December 3

I really think this extended cut will improve the film overall, as long as the footage is of the same quality as the original it really needs that longer ninja fight to help the pacing of the third act, it really was my biggest dissapointment as its an iconic part of the comic but it was over way too fast and you could tell it had been heavily edited but it sounds like theres good chance we get a lot of that back so I think thats a big plus.

Watching back the trailers and featurettes there is several pieces removed from the cinematic version other than the ninja fight which I dont remember in the film unless I missed them:woot: such as:

-Ninja's bowing to Mariko to pledge alliegence to her
-Yukio fighting at the funeral knocking a gun out of yakuza hand
-Some more shots of Yakuza running through the streets after the funeral fight
-A shot of traditional SS amror at the funeral (I remember Yukio talking about this but not sure if it was in the film or not??)

Whether we will get all of these in the final cut remains to be seen of course, the ninja fight is the biggest one and would help the third act I believe.

Cant wait for it to be honest!! Sounds like a strong chance of it happening:woot:

So it's pretty much confirmed we will get an Unrated Edition when it releases instead of 10 years from now? Good, it will be the first Blu-Ray purchase for me in a while. I usually wait till they release collections of films, but seeing that the X-Franchise won't end anytime soon I can't wait for this one.

Amazon has a preorder up for a blu-ray combo pack, but no details or word of an extended cut. Could just be a placeholder, though.

But I hope this won't be theatrical version release first, extended version release later situation. I hate when they do that.

That's why I hate buying movies and I went for collections, they always seem to rerelease films in a better version and it's annoying. One and done, I don't mind 25th Anniversary Editions, but you shouldn't release one movie 5 times in the course of 5 years or so.

I have a feeling they'll hold off on releasing an extended edition until we're closer to DOFP, so they can use it to promote that movie.

I cannot wait for the uncut version, after Mariko was taken by the Yakuza, we just know in that scene where the yakuza guy was saying he wouldn't talk and Logan did something to him with his claw, that there has to be more to that.

I'm hoping this will be one of the situations where its "Theatrical & Extended cut included."

I loved this movie enough with the theatrical cut I don't even know what kind of nerd-gasm I'd have with an extended cut.

Me too, I tell you what got the biggest laugh in my screening, the moment the bear took a slash.

For my theater, it's when Logan does the fake-out on top of the speeding bullet train, causing that Yakuza to jump up and crash into the metal beam.

Second was Logan's response to Yukio after he throws Noburo out of window of his penthouse and he lands in the pool. ("How did you know know there was a pool out there?" "I didn't.") :woot:

i like the part in the beginning when Logan sticks the arrow into the hunter's hand and tell him "ask me how I know."

then the hunter asks, "how do you know?" to which Wolverine replies "funny you should ask."

LOL :woot:

but yeah, the movie had a lot of funny moments but not in a cheesy sort of way

EDIT: got this off Amazon. it seems this might the cover for the blu-ray. i really hope it is because i love it!

You could tell that there were so many scenes probably with an added second would of had massive blood shed.

Already got this baby pre-ordered :D

I really dug the promotional tactics for this film, all the posters had both Japanese flare, but a nice almost minimal art style to it.

Hmm if thats the blu-ray cover, its pretty early to release it.

Hopefully, the final cover will be totally different from that.

I don't think its necessary for a movie to have a R-18 rating to be really good.

But with this movie, I felt like they had to restrict themselves with some of the scenes (and cut some scenes) in order to get a PG-13 rating.

You know the dream sequence where he was attacked the Silver Samurai, that was only a brief snippet on the film but it seemed like there was more on the trailer. Do we know if there is more?

The Wolverine Is one summer film this year I will be buying on DVD even if the director's cut Is only on Blu-Ray.
