The Worst Moment In Comic Book History

One More Day is the reason I gave up comics. Nice going Marvel

Gwen Stacy having a roll in the hay with Norman Osborn is certainly up there, along with all that mystical-spider-totem stuff.

If All-Star Batman had been in continuity I would have sunk into a deep depression.

in this order

1) Freaking 4 Supermen- and you had to buy em all to see what was happening i quit comics for awhile cause of that
2) the Spider clone saga- peter's whole life was a sham. get outta here with that!
3) Prime Superman punching time!?! Punching time!!! i was about to quit again cause of that BS
4) One more day! i knew better than to even buy that crap.
5) Secret Invasion- i am seriously thinking of giving up comics cause of this nonsense- nothing drivel

2) the Spider clone saga- peter's whole life was a sham. get outta here with that!
3) Prime Superman punching time!?! Punching time!!! i was about to quit again cause of that BS

Sorry I gotta say the spider clone saga is gotta be the worst. I totally forgot about it until you said this (like when kids get traumatized and end up not remembering what happened.) If they put ONE more "everything you know is wrong" in there I would have killed myself. To add insult to injury, I read it in like 2001 (I loved MST3K so I thought this could be funny) so when I got to the end (which I can't remember if I got to I just stopped reading after awhile, which is easy with induvidual issues) I felt so stupid and crazy that it wasn't even funny. My dad (who had given me the issues) laughed and said "I told you so"

concerning #3 I thought he was punching existence (all 4 time-space dimensions) but either way I see how its waaay stupid (which is funny because I didn't have a problem with it when I read it but now I say it in my head and it seems ridiculoso)

As a Punisher fan my 2 are

When the Punisher went from being a white guy to a black guy and was hanging with Cage
Zombisher - Zombisher Punisher Spawn just plain sucked

For the most part, I've been an saavy enough fan to avoid crappy comic storylines but like many others, I read One more Day. It was good...until the final issue. I don't buy Peter selling his marriage to satan. It's just...horrific. I have been reading Spider-man non-stop since about 1997 and that was the first time I wanted to stop. I almost did during brand new day but whatever that storyline was with the anti-Venom(dumb concept but good issues) kept me in...for now.

"Are you ******ed or something?! I'm the g**d*** Batman!"

Proof that Frank Miller has finally gone crazy. Utterly and completely crazy.

Jeph Loeb writing Ultimates 3, Hulk, and Ultimatum.

In recent history, Loeb taking over Ultimates is the worst decision Marvel could make. It was ann utter piece of sh**.

I also agree on the last issue of Spider-Man : One More Day being absolutely stupid.

Almost everything X-Men since stupid Synger f***ed up the franchise(i kno some of u love him but that idiot destroyed the potential of both X-Men and Superman franchises).
Some examples:
-2nd mutations
-Nightcrawler being the son of the devil
-Cassandra Nova
-No More Mutants, i loved House of M but its too bad that the way things were going with mutants was cancelled(population growing, Genosha)
-and also Magneto's Genosha destroyed after one second pissed me off
-Gambit as Apocalypse's horseman

Finally, i really hate when one writer does something and the next writer completely erases it. Every writer wants to make their mark and they always mess up the continuity. Editors should really control things better.

With the exception of the founding of Image and Milestone, I'd have to say the worst moment in comic book history was between the years of 1992-1995 where we had different companies inventing their own super hero universes , the big boob bad girl era, and the gimmicks ( foil and card board covers, trading card inserts, etc. )

Teen Tony-stopped me from buying comics
Heroes Reborn- Stopped me from going to comic shops to look
retcon punch-made me start understanding why my friends and family hate comics
One year later- made me start understanding why my friends and family think comics are stupid
One more day- REALLY made me start understanding why my friends and family think comics ares stupid.
Final Crisis- Straw that broke the camel's back and made me pursue other hobbies.

Waaay to many for one thread alone....Let's see...

Superboy Prime wall punch
Spiderman, Clone Saga, One more Day
Batman, bringing back Jason Todd
Final Crisis bringing back Barry Allen
Marvel, Civil War, World War Hulk, House of M, Secret Invasion
Wildstorm.

I could go on.

OMD is nothing compared to the moment we learned Gwen and Norman bumped nasties.

I always assumed the worst moment in comic book history was when people bought into the rants of a doctor named fredrick wertham, the guy who almost killed comics by playing off the fears and prejudices of american society.

1. OMD
2. Gwen and Norman shagging
3. Peter being a grade-A moron by unmasking to the world

Gwen Stacy having a roll in the hay with Norman Osborn is certainly up there, along with all that mystical-spider-totem stuff.

THIS and One More ****ing Day. 2 things that totally butchered Spider-man's history. Only thing worse would be along the lines of Uncle Ben being Peter's real dad because he had an affair with his mom.

When I collected comics as a kid, I'd have to say that Howard Mackie relaunching the Spider-man stories somehow making them more worse than they already were comes to mind since that's what I collected then.

I don't get any sense of nostalgia from watching the Spider-man movies or hearing about the character at all anymore. I grew up on the character right before/during the whole clone saga started and when the storytelling gradually fell apart (about a year after maximum clonage the series started to stink) and they abandoned many of the parts I had an attachment for as a reader, that just slowly stripped me of the appreciation for the character over time.

Just read the 2nd worst moment in comic history.

Batman using a gun to kill Darkseid.

:thing: :doom: :thing:

The Spidey Obama issue may turn out to top all, but right now: Marvel's decision to imitate the GL Parallax story by making Stark an agent of Immortus, then replacing hims with teen Tony.

Right now, would be when Doom 2099 travelled back in time to stop Latveria from being liquidated... I stopped reading after that. It's been a while.
