I think your a little mixed up. Tara a.k.a. Victoria was released.

D'oh, I got them mixed up.

Still, Tara/Victoria is awesome and can step into any role immediately. Would love to see AJ's face turn chalk white seeing her walk up that aisle.

Who likes Warrior enough to induct him? Phil Collins maybe?

Papa Shango

It's a shame that his two best rivalries, IMO at least, are dead. I am referring to Rick Rude and Macho Man.

*Spoiler:* Permanent GM Named at WWE Smackdown Taping

Readers are sending in word that in the first segment of tonight's WWE Smackdown taping in Providence, RI a new full-time general manager was named by none other than Vince McMahon.

The night started off with Teddy Long asking the crowd for his support to become the permanent GM, but he was quickly interrupted by Booker T who made his long-awaited return. Vince McMahon and Brad Maddox both came out, before the WWE Chairman announced that the new general manager of WWE Smackdown would be... Vickie Guerrero!
:applaud

So GM of Smackdown or both Raw and Smackdown??

Hello, nice people! :)

I gotta say I'm more or less a virgin to rasslin' these days, although I used to follow the old, old, OLD school back in the day (Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, Georgia Championship Wrestling, the old NWA, and very early pre-Attitude WWF/WCW), but lately I've been getting into the new blood and I gotta say I'm hooked.

Absolutely luh-huved Raw last night....great to see RVD come back, although he sure is rusty. But then, looks like Jericho is, too. And I'm all over the Daniel Bryan bandwagon....Team Hell No is my favorite tag team since the 1980s. I wish the Divas had some stronger talent than AJ Lee, though; the Overly Attached Girlfriend schtick is kinda lame.

Anyway, do you guys think Vince would really put the nix on a Cena-Bryan matchup? He seems like more of a grassroots fan fave than a corporate flunky, obviously, but wouldn't he get a bigger audience for Summer Slam with the little guy than one of the old timers?

A cookie to whoever can tell who the current WWE superstar is on the left:

Cena/Bryan sells itself. That match=buys. My biggest fear is them putting so many unnecessary elements leading up to the match like the Bellas.

Welcome. :)

I think Bryan/Cena would definitely draw in the smark crowd more. You know, the hardcore fans, at least those into independent scene since that's where Bryan made his name before WWE.

General audience wise...it's hard to say, really. Bryan's a fresh face that popular with the crowd. Kids seem to like him, and he's shows more personality than most good guys. It's worth the gamble to try and see what happens. They have to take a chance and see where it goes. What really helps is that they have Lesnar/Punk also as a money match that people will want to see, which frees them up to experiment in the WWE title match with someone new.

It's a fresh match-up. It's something a lot of big main event matches in WWE lack. At least, a fresh match that people actually wanna see.

WWE are calling Bryan the hottest star in wrestling right now, I don't think they see him vs Cena as a gamble or Bryan as just an IWC guy anymore, he's theirs now and over with their core audience everywhere they go, he basically covers the demo quadrants for WWE and I honestly don't think they could book a bigger WWE title match right now.

This. It's a match that I think every single person in the IWC has wanted for a long time and we're finally getting it. Definitely the biggest WWE Title Match in a while as far as general interest goes.

If WWE is smart they should also consider that if Bryan won the title during this feud, it would send shockwaves through the Wrestling World. Like when the feud has reached its peak of intensity.

*fist bump* and *high five*

Interesting given they had him in an angle that looked like he was going to turn on Bully. I wonder if WWE will pick him up to be part of the Punk angle.

I could see that. I'm not a fan of his but Punk likes him.

Yeah, I remember Punk being on Cabana's podcast and saying that Gallows could be a star if he could translate his real personality on screen.

Can't they get rid of the GM concept already? It's beyond played out. Why can't they go back to the days of Jack Tunney?

WWE may be calling Bryan the hottest star in wrestling now, but I think they're still view him as a gamble. Vince's known lack of faith in smaller wrestlers hasn't diminished that much.

Welcome! I grew up watching 80s WWF and Crockett myself.

Agreed. I'm just in fear of McMahon involvement in the angle. But, the match will absolutely happen.

Exactly!

The GM thing is such a story crutch. One of the reasons why I think the product is great right now is because they aren't relying on the GM to generate storylines. As a matter of fact, the GM storyline in itself with the McMahon's might be the weakest ongoing one out there. Bryan/Cena, Punk/Lesnar, Rhodes/Sandow, Uso's/Shield, Ziggler/ADR, NONE of these needed a GM or needs one in the future.

RE: RAW Easter Egg

Not sure if this has been brought up in the thread apparently Lita appeared on-screen behind AJ/Ziggler when they were breaking up. A nice little easter egg for fans. Not sure if it's true but there's a screenshot out there on The Masked Man from Grantland's Twitter but it might not be her.

If Shawn Michaels and Curt Hennig could be combined, I think the result would be Dolph Ziggler.

Sorry Curtis Axel, but your birthright was taken from you. :funny:
