I don't understand why Kane would have beef with Cena.

Yup. One of the PW247 faithful tweeted him the DA link, he retweeted it and then tweeted the poster.

Never expected it to actually get to him, even with how Twitter works.

Gold! :D

Yeah, that was the build up to their match at Summerslam. The main reason I remember is because they played Highway to Hell and they REALLY overplayed the crap out of that song in the build up to Summerslam

:funny: I remember, it played at the end of just about every segment.

Still, it was a good build to a match I still remember today. In the mid-late 90s, I barely bought any PPVs. But I went out of the way to get that one.

I do too, in particular Taker's big leg drop spot. However maybe I hyped the match for myself too much at the time with it being Austin vs Taker in The Garden, as I recall it being a bit dull with way too much crowd brawling.

I've been out of the wrestling loop for a while so I've been having to play catch up, and man James Storm cut one of the best promos I've seen in a long time in TNA and WWE.

Storm and Roode are on fire!

It was a good promo, it's a shame they dropped the ball on the match.

Am I the only one that thought that Kane wasn't going after Cena specifically, but rather since Mark Henry escaped, Kane was just typical Kane and demolished whoever the **** he could get his hands on?

Kane is Cena's fill in feud between now and Wrestlemania so I doubt he was just collateral damage, and as I mentioned earlier tonight before he even returned, Cena was in the latest Kane video.

I kept changing my mind as I watched it but I think it was Kane doing the brawling. Was that from the big angle in the summer of 98?

Yep.

At first I thought it was Kane then Taker finally I think it was Kane. He just seemed a bit bigger like Kane and he moved more like Kane. The thing is that was some of the fastest stuff I'd ever seen Kane do around that time. They certainly pulled off each others builds and mannerisms better than all the other folks who pretended to be Taker or Kane.

Found this pic on wwe.com, it shows his entire attire.

Love the new mask. Y'know this pic just goes to show why they were able to pull of the brothers gimmick early on. They had similar builds years ago but with the mask on and with the facial hear the lower part of Kanes face kind of looks like Undertaker. You could put the mask on Taker and they'd still look somewhat similar in it.

Reason For Kane Returning With Mask, John Morrison Accepting Bookings

Posted by Daniel Pena on 12/13/2011
-- At the conclusion of the 2011 Slammy Awards, Kane reemerged, once again masked. The Big Red Monster locked his hand around the neck of John Cena and left him laying with a devastating chokeslam.

One reason for Kane resurfacing with a mask is because WWE officials are looking to set a new Guinness World Record for the "largest gathering of people wearing costume masks" at WrestleMania XXVIII in Miami, Florida. The current record was set May 10, 2011 during a Major League Baseball game between the Los Angeles Angels and the Chicago White Sox at Angel Stadium of Anaheim when roughly 25,000 fans donned red Lucha masks during a designated ten minute time period.

That's kind of a lame explanation but hopefully they'll realize this is the right direction for the character.

Silly reason but at least the mask is back. I wonder if they are planning to have him face another masked wrestler (Rey obviously).

thousands in Kane masks is gonna be a sight to see if they can make it happen. I wonder how they'd work that into the show. Just hand out masks and have everybody wear them?

I still remember the story in it being great. Taker needing to do it on his own, sending Kane to the back, all that. I'm still glad I bought that one. Then I didn't give WWE money again until SummerSlam 2002.

I started watching the Slammies, but I quickly turned off the TV when they began referencing 14 year old rap songs. I would have kept watching if I knew there was going to be wrasslin'. :/

I think Kane's new mask is my favorite of the ones he's used. I like the material and how it looks kind of like skin.

so if Sin Cara wasn't injured, this bad ass new mask wouldn't have happened?

Same here. Definitely looks creepier than a standard face shield type of mask.

If monster Kane is truly back and remains a hot heel heading into Wrestlemania, I would put him in a match with Sheamus.

Someone mentioned Kave vs Taker IV, could be used to build a new monster heel or RAW to rival Henry on SD and have Taker come back to blah blah blah, you get the idea.

I could see them handing out cheap imitation masks. You'd have a lot of kids wearing some of them but not enough will buy them based on those prices. Then they'll have to ask people to wear them at the same time to break the record. I wonder if they'll work in a "mask vs mask" stipulation.

I think it still would have. They've probably been throwing the idea around for a while and this gave them more of a reason to move ahead with it.

Actually one article points to Mysterio being sidelined , maybe he won't make Wrestlemania?

I love that Punk looks to be in peril at times. 9 times out of 10 if Cena's partner was taken out, then he would beat both heels by himself in grand Superman fashion .

Kane should've stuck with the first mask. It reminded me a lot of Predator!

I don't understand why Kane would have beef with Cena.

Cena beat him a few years ago in IIRC what was the first time they ever had a match together, which turned out to be pretty good.

Kane has always been one to hold grudges. A perfect example would be Wrestlemania 20. The main reason why Kane was feuding with The Undertaker then was because he was mad that his brother eliminated from the Royal Rumble the previous year!

Maybe Kane vs. Cena is part of the "Cena grows balls" storyline. Like Piper or somebody is sending Kane out to teach Cena the meaning of fear.

What's a Barrett Barrage?
I don't know but it sounds lame. WWE creative are trying hard to give Wade Barrett a catchphrase, personality or come up with something intresting for stuarts character and are failing badly.

Outside of being a leader of a heel stable Barretts rarther boring. He does't have the move set to be a top guy and he is lacking charisma.

The Diva moment of the year is a roll-up pin? And they wonder why nobody takes the Divas seriously; stop burying the actual talent.
TNA don't do much better than the WWE in my opion but womens wrestling they do much better.

I would rather watch the knockouts that atleast can wrestle and have matches longer than five minutes than Kelly Kelly doing another stupid roll up.
Just future endeavor Mahal already. His schtick has been stale since the 90's.

They need to bring mysticism back into wrestling. Like Taker and Kane, they bring the superhero/villain-isqu in wrestling like no one else. They have back stories in their storylines.
The Ministry was awesome. I know Edge joked about being a fake vampire but the whole sacraficing Big Boss Man stuff was cool.
Who could be the "she" that holds the secret of Jericho's return?
Be cool if Jericho cameback with Steph and screwed over CM Punk to wrap up the whole conspiracy storyline.
Did Cena spill coffee on him?
I think a little bit of Pee came out when Cena saw how awesome Kane was when he choked slamed his ass.

The seeming reason behind Kane getting the mask back is mind numbing, if they want people to wear it I'm guessing he's gonna be a face. :whatever:

The movement here is eerily like Taker.

Yep.

Yeah it was the speed of Kane's stuff that threw me as well, I don't ever think I've seen him move that quickly before or since.

I still remember the story in it being great. Taker needing to do it on his own, sending Kane to the back, all that. I'm still glad I bought that one. Then I didn't give WWE money again until SummerSlam 2002.

The thing it always stood out for with me was Austin won clean, at that point no one had ever pinned Taker clean and it was made a big deal of going in, so it really sealed the deal of Austin being this massive draw ala Hogan.

That would work for me.

I don't support giving Mr Laryngitis, Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and Interim General Manager of Monday Night Raw, any say in the next Thread title. Except maybe for:

The Wrestling Thread Has the touch! It has the POWER!!!!

Did anyone watch Final Resolution?

The tag title match, X Division title match and Knockouts title match were all solid, and there's clearly more to come from Mickie vs Gail. The Hardy/Jarrett cage match was what you'd expect but hopefully the stip that was added means Karen will be removed from her Knockout's role on this weeks Impact.

Angle vs Storm was so well built up but they had the wrong match, it wasn't that it was a bad match except for the bland finish (which was odd given Kurt's love of finishing sequences) but this was a blood feud that should have been a wild brawl like Punk vs Triple H in the summer, instead it was a regular match in the ring as if they were just having a one off match with no back story.

The Roode vs AJ Iron Man match was a superb match, the third best I've seen this year, however the finish makes me wonder where to next given Hardy now has the title shot at the next PPV.
