The Deadpool movie has not been cancelled. Last we heard it was taking steps forward. Neither of these films have a date so time will tell.

I bet they're still dragging their feet over the R rating. The bits of the script I read were pretty cool but if they water it down for the kiddies...

Yeah, some in jokes and popculture references would be in line, but no need to distract imo. The heavy 4th wall breaking only happens in Deadpools world. When something is not from Deadpools pov, its really not required for the character.

I thought of making this post a new thread in the Fantastic Four forum, but this is much more X-Force-centric.

I've been thinking about the Fantastic Four (In Name Only) reboot, and with what we know and have speculated so far, I feel that the potential film is closer to X-Force with a Warren Ellis flavor. I'm not saying or speculating that it is X-Force, but rather it would be more appropriate as an X-Force project instead.

Regarding FFINO, I've considered the potential plot of subjects being experimented on (possible covert operation theme), the actors being discussed (Michael B. Jordan, Saoirse Ronan, Miles Teller), the new origins/family structure, and what is known of director Josh Trank and his style.

Also, the release date of 2015, which would be between DOFP and X-Men: Apocalypse, is perfect for the first X-Force film. Like, um, too perfect. No shoehorning the FF would be needed to build that film universe.

The rosters could match up with the actors that are being eyed for roles.
X-Force during the Shockwave run had Bedlam (MBJ), Boom-Boom (any blonde), Cannonball, and Warpath (any big dude). A small group that is or can be ethnically diverse.

Your thoughts? Ideas? Speculation? Is Fox putting their eggs in the wrong basket?

It's far too early to be calling it "In Name Only" since We know nothing about the characters or story.

As far as we know. Wadlow made some comments on twitter about the script being turned in, but other then that no news. That was early December.

I'd be surprised if we hear anything before the box office intake for DOFP tbh. Unless they want those dates marked before other studios jump in, would think Fox will want to make sure it's big gun makes the dough before the smaller projects like this and Deadpool get the official go ahead with dates. I'd Assume they have them on the table ready to go.

Apocalypse is really the perfect crossover villain for the two teams, so hopefully they are planning this out right.

They have been a bit too quiet with F4, X-Force and Deadpool...

each time I think about the idea of an expanded X-Men universe we could have in three/four years..... I feel like I wouldnt mind time traveling to the future to year 2018 or so, to see the HUGE DVD collection we could have, lol

If all of Fox plans work, it will be an awesome feeling to have a huge saga in our hands, with plenty of actors and iconic characters from the comics.

I don't think X-Force will be released. But color me surprised if we get movie #9 or X-Force in 2017 then movie #10 in 2018.
