PARAMOUNT CELEBS
Movie theatres were a very busy place over the weekend with Harry Potter fans coming out in droves to earn the latest edition of Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire just over $100 million at the box office and to no ones surprise take the No. 1 spot. However, what was a surprise to many braving the lineups at the downtown Paramount theatre was the arrival of Shawn Ashmore who went to the movies on Friday. The Richmond native is best known for his role as IceMan in the X-Men movies, and is filming X3 in Vancouver right now. The local actor also received rave reviews for his recent portrayal of Terry Fox in the M.O.W. celebrating his 25th anniversary entitled Terry.
Later that afternoon I had a star sighting of my own when I noticed Mathew St.Patrick, formerly of the hit HBO series Six Feet Under, in the lobby with a female companion. One of the movie-goers mentioned to me that when he recognized the actor, he kindly asked him not to blow his cover and
smiled. St.Patrick is currently filming the new TV series Reunion where he plays a detective investigating a murder at a high school reunion.

Today SFX was at the press launch for Patrick Stewart's new TV series Eleventh Hour, which airs on ITV in January - and was surprised by a guest appearance by the star himself (so surprised we didn't have a dictaphone handy - curses!).
As well as chatting about X-Men 3 (he was very defensive about new director Brett Ratner), he also discussed the possibility of a return to his most famous role, Jean-Luc Picard.
Following the box office failure of Nemesis, Stewart's been saying he believed the franchise was dead in the water for ages, but it seems there's been a turnaround, because he revealed there've been lots of serious meetings lately about a new film, and there are money men who want it to happen.
However, he also made it clear that he's signed up to working with the Royal Shakespeare company for the next 16 months, so even if another Next Gen film did get greenlit, he wouldn't be able to start filming it until after that.
Patrick Stewart popped in for tea and scones at a radio talk show, though he was a bit distracted awaiting the results of a Huddersfield football match - which might be why he couldn't remember many of his own lines, including the last words he spoke as Captain Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Chatting on the Chris Evans Show on BBC Radio 2, Stewart was introduced as "Captain of the USS Enterprise, star of X-Men and all around great British thesp" as he sat with his tea and preserves, admitting that he had been spoiled filming X-Men 3 by 20th Century Fox, which had dispatched him an assistant who found his favourite brand of coffee despite its scarcity in Vancouver, where much of the film was shot.
When a caller to the show asked whether he had recently been in Alcatraz Prison, Stewart admitted that he was, claiming at first that he had visited it with his girlfriend who had never seen it. But then he admitted that he was at the prison for an X-Men scene, though he said that he had been sworn to secrecy about the details of the film. "Alcatraz does in some way figure in the story," he confessed. "There was some talk of having the premiere there, but I think that's been dumped."
