The Year 2012 (Merged)

Well, to be fair, 2012 isn't so much the Apocalypse as the specific date in 2012... I think it's December 22, so it's closer to the Apocalypse of 2013...

But, hey with global warming we could all be entering this day:

I doubt that the Mayans could have predicted that since it's largely our fault over time due to the industrial revolution. But, it might happen in my lifetime (I'm only 19), so who knows?

All I know is at 2012 I'll be partying with my friends on new years and make a sarcastic toast, "to the end of the world, drink up my harties yo ho", because 2012 is- imo- pay day, not end of days. And I only believe that due to experiencing and witnessing freak weather anomalies recently.

Oh no! The global warming wolves are coming for me!

I'm frankly sick of hear about that Mayan calender thing, the History Channel airing a special about it was the last straw. Why the hell do some people prance around acting like the Mayans were all knowing? Being able to predict a solar eclipse is totally different from predicting the end of the world.

wow....lay off the haterade dude. :o

and fyi...in 2012 there's more happening than just a solar eclipse. you should do some REAL research into 2012 before dismissing it or claiming it "stupid". a History Channel special isn't exactly the best thing to go off of.

edit:

Oh lord, how drunk was I when I made this thread? :o

oh okay, that would explain it...hehe

Not exactly the film. Lol. :woot:

But, freak weather anamolies- yeah.

Yeah, freak weather anomalies that cause wolves to go into abandoned russian tanker ships and protect the precious penicillin. :csad:

Seriously though, it matters not if we see the end coming, if it is, it'll get us.

It’s not only the Mayan calendar!
But most calendars all over the ancient world including the Babylonians, the Egyptians etc, seems to predict the end of the world at the same time
This will be in about 4 or 5 years.

Even I received some disturbing news recently
And I hope it doesn't mean what I think it is !
Anyways I don't really thin about it that much
It might mean the end of an era and the beginning of a brand new one without all the fuss that comes with it.

OMG! The end of the world! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

I'm gonna go and spend the next five years stocking up in preparation for something that: (1) I have no idea is actually going to happen or not, and (2) it's gonna kill me no matter what I do.

Many were, and the Spanish did a number on their culture, but as a people their ultimate fate was intermixing with the European settlers, and breeding into and being lost in the colonial society. Most Mexicans today have at least some Mayan or Aztec ancestry.

I personally think they were just calculating as far ahead as they could at the time. With their level of sophistication today they could probably calculate to 2400 or something.
Yes indeed!
I always thought they were calculating as far as they could too
and it must be the right explanation.

But recent event might suggest otherwise!

Don’t forget about that asteroid heading toward us
Most scientists seems to agree it won't hit the earth
But ones never know
Perhaps some things like a piece of rock that was hurled into space from what happened to Jupiter years ago might derive the damn thing toward us.

Yeah goto 2012 and thought **** it someone else can carry on with this later on!

The way I see it, there are that many 'predictions' about when the end will come, one of them will be right by sheer coincidence.

Lady and gentlemen sometimes an event so strong might happen that it can reverberate through time itself through residue of ion, atoms and molecular structure and other stuff

Something likes the impact of asteroids in a few years from now
Might came to us as couple of bridges or a few other strong structure collapsing all over the world
Even the melting of the ice pole that we think is being cause by the destruction of the ozone layer might in fact be the heats that such an impact will generate

Anyway I have this theory ever since I was a kid,
Even before I read DC crisis of infinite earth and most of the time it proves me right

Like when I went to see the transformers I counted 69 people in the theater
And because 6 can be transform into 9 and vice versa and the numbers in betweens
I kind of figured out that transformers will make around 690 millions worldwide

Believe it you better listen to Diamondhead lol

I'm sorry, but you do realize that the Mayans came up with the concept of "zero", right?

and that their astronomic observations and knowledge rivals even the latest technological advancements made?

according to them, the year 2012 is to be a year of great change, in which we shift into a new era

reading a little bit instead of just talking without any knowledge tends to make one look a little bit foolish

but who am I to question you, right? you don't believe the Mayans

Yeah...because we know that mathematical concepts and predicting the end of the world are totally in the same field.

I wonder if they had the internet? Hell, or even a calculator, for that matter. Let's see what the Mayans have to say about transistors, or electricity! :yay:

"Hey, guys! I just invented a new mathematical theorem, and I've mapped the stars! By the way, I'm also a ****ing psychic. Keep 2012 open in your datebooks, 'kay? ...why are you all looking at me like that?"

Dude, I know English isn't your first language...but come on. That sentence doesn't make any sense.

We agree on one point.

The Mayans werent the only one's to predict that bad things are coming in the year 2012.Nostradam predicted that a planel sized comet is due to hit us that year. And the So Called Bible Code) Has two such predictions around the same year. But thats if you believe in such things.

...2010 or 2012?

The physical universe ended 7 years ago, we are nothing but an echo in time caused by its destruction. All echoes fade with time, and this 'time-echo' we exist in is no different, for we will slowly but surely fade into nothingness as well. The mayans forsaw this time echo as a continuation of our existence, and so paid no attention to the true destruction of our physical universe. They instead marked the end of the world as 2012. Whether you doubt the end is in 2012 or not is of no importance, for all you know will fade into nothingness in 5 years.

Uh....huh. I'd really, really appreciate it if you'd stick to your medication schedule from now on, mm'k? That'd be greeeeaaaat.
