Theism is the belief in the existence of one or more divinities or deities.

There is also a narrower sense in which theism refers to the belief that one or more divinities are immanent in the world, yet transcend it, along with the idea that divinity(s) is/are omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent.[1]

We have a Christian thread which I have found very interesting and enlightening to say the least and we have had other religious threads.

I am very interested to find out the views and beliefs of posters like Wilhelm, Jag, and Mr. Sparkle as well as others who may believe in a deity but not accept or belong to an organized religion.

i believe there is a god but i dont choose to go the way of any organized religion because i believe it has a way of corrupting people into thinking they are better than everyone else and some of those people claim to know everything , which i find to be impossible .

whatever they wanted without fear of burning in hell for all eternity

From the Skeptic's Dictionary...

A god is a being created by humans and given supernatural powers or attributes such as immortality, omniscience, telekinesis, and invisibility. These creations serve many purposes, such as imaginary protection from enemies or explanations for the origin of such things as good and evil, fire and wind, or life and death.
Gods are often the central figures around which religions are built. It is often claimed that religion began in fear and superstition. The same might be said for gods.
Some religions maintain that there is just one God and that all the gods of all religions except theirs were created by human beings. Yet, everyone who believes in a god of some sort believes their god is real.
Since gods are supernatural, they exist outside the bounds and laws of space and time. They can possess any of an infinite array of magical powers. Hence, there is no way to prove or disprove their reality. One might say: If gods exist, anything goes!

Nah, God's more of a Bizarro Superman type, I'd think. Or maybe like Batman. He just needs prep time.

Nobody ever talks about Buddhism or Hinduism here. We need more of that.

God's had a couple billion years for prep-time, time's up god.

I'm not aware of any members who are Buddhist or Hindu. Besides, Buddhism isn't considered a religion anymore.

the buddhists may be on to something.

For a religion to be considered a religion it needs to have the set belief in a specific god. Buddhism doesn't, you can be an atheist, a Jew, a Christian or whatever you want and still be a Buddhist. Buddhism is a philosophy.
