They Say He Drinks Blood: The Rumours and Speculation Thread

yeah, I would count that as lying lol. Or like when he said Elordi hadn't auditioned for Superman because no one had auditioned, which was true, but we also now know that he declined an offer to audition, which you defiantly shouldn't put out there, but that begs the question: why address it at all?
To win points with nerds on the internet for dunking on scoopers who are deeply unpopular and also probably an exercise in Gunn's personal dislike of them as a class of internet denizen as well. Which, I mean, fair enough but it's still pretty embarrassing to see him waste his time on it.

The rumor wasn't Elordi auditioning for Superman, the rumor was Elordi being cast as Superman when they hadn't even begun casting yet as Gunn stated there. If I recall that rumor was put out 3 months before the audition process even began.

ViewerAnon is universally considered the most reliable source for BTS movie stuff on the internet, dude. No one is even in close competition with him. He's more likely to get things wrong at that stage, for sure, but he's the only "scooper" anyone should pay any attention to.
I can't recall a single instance where he got anything right about a film that wasn't already being test-screened lol You are welcome to cite me examples if you remember any but I've been following him for a while and can't remember a single one.

I mean, we’re splitting hairs, but we know there was interest from someone at WB maybe even Gunn to have him audition for the role, so there was some truth in those reports and again I ask: why address it in any way?

I'm glad they had the good sense to be interested in Jacob Elordi for it seeing as he was absolutely the best choice in his age range. Pity he didn't want to audition.

Even if he had I strongly believe odds are he'd have lost to Corenswet anyway.

I mean... 'cuz he wasn't actually cast in the role and casting hadn't even started? That was the rumor.

Yep. The way I see it, rumors and speculations are half the fun anticipating these movies. It's also the very fuel of boards like this.
At least, that's what it used to be.

Yeah.
I've always found the rumor and speculation game fun going as far back as the 90s when I was following the production of Batman and Robin. Lol.

I know there are fans who get ultra invested in their own theories , but still I like the mystery, the theories, and speculation from fans and geek pundits.

Then ,when the film comes out, it's a bit like a game, where you see what you may have got right, or wrong.

Ultimately , you may have been totally off, but it's still fun and I like the speculation game.

But ,then again, that's just me as a fan .

This. It can be faintly annoying but it's a fun kind of annoying, it's just so incredibly low stakes and unimportant. Hence why generally speaking professionals don't engage with it.

I mean we still have plenty of speculate even with this rumor being shut down, I really don't get what the downside is. He's talked and debunked the most out of Legacy and even there no one knows what that film is exactly gonna be like yet.

Hopefully he will be too busy filing Superman soon and will not have time to own the trolls.

Court of Owls goes against a lot of what makes the vibe of The Batman's crime drama stuff interesting which is its relative mundanity. I hate the idea of Reeves Gotham being controlled by a goofy shadowy cabal of cultists. That's just stupid QAnon bull**** when you put it in a more grounded context. Leave that for the DCU.

Doesn’t Rob want condiment king
He said 3 times he'd like to see the Court.

“I’d love to do something like Court of Owls,” says Pattinson, referring to the 2011 DC Comics horror story about a hidden society that’s secretly ruled Gotham from an underground lair for centuries.

The storyline by the dynamic duo of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo kicked off a new era of Batman tales that took the character to darker corners of Gotham City than he’d ever been before. The Court of Owls, a cult-like faction of criminals who wear owl masks and employ undead assassins to do their bidding, would certainly fit into the more Gothic feel of Reeves’ new Batman universe, according to Pattinson: “There are elements of The Batman which are kind of horror and I think it really feels quite new for Batman.”

What's a corner of this Batverse, as we call it, that you are just curious to see yourself whether it involves you directly or not?
- I mean, I keep saying 'Court of Owls.' I love all the kind of super hallucinogenic stuff from the graphic novels. I think that would be, that would be really fun to be a part of it.

Here Paul Dano seems really excited about it too and on a separate interview he directly said he wanted them as well.

I would take Condiment King over Court of Owls. Okay that's a joke but I would prefer Kite Man.

I can't disagree more lmao. The Court just represents something that is extraordinarily real in the world: The top 1% of wealthy people looking out for themselves and screwing everyone not as wealthy as them by controlling everything around them with their wealth. They're just an slightly heightened way of exploring that concept; instead of merely giving donations to politicians like in real life they also are a creepy cult that wear goofy masks on their spare time—which isn't that off in a universe that already has a billionaire that wears a batsuit.

Although even in real life that isn't so far fetched lmfao.

It'd be boring as hell to see them in a fantastical DCU since I genuinely think the worst elements of them are the whole fantastical undead ninjas stuff that makes them a lamer League of Assasins. The more they can lean into the real life commentary that can be done with them as stand-ins for the 1%, the better. We saw corruption rampant in the mafia side of Gotham in the first movie and we'll see more of that in The Penguin, we also already saw serial killer/terrorists I wanna see now the corruption amongst Bruce's billionaire peers, and the Court is the best vehicle for it. Gives them an extremely easy avenue to explore more of Bruce Wayne in the sequel, so I definitely think Paul and Rob are onto something there.

Someone on Reddit had a pretty cool idea of reimagining Black Mask as a cult leader with the False Face Society.

I don’t like the court of owls because I like seeing cool actors as Batman villains and the court is a bunch of guys in tuxs standing around in owl masks. Not a lot to do there!

I mean Reeves can easily flesh them more out. That's what I like about them too. They're such a blank slate in that way he can fill them with OCs like what Colson was on the first movie and I think he could come up with something cool.

I am against oc villains. Batman has such a deep rogues gallery it just seems like a waste.
The Court wouldn't be OC villains, the men behind the masks would be since they don't give them an identity at all in the comics and Reeves has more freedom to play with who would be a part of it.

Well, now I’m confused. Are they or aren’t they?
