Well the final issue of this series is out, and I'm impressed with what writer Dan Slott did with this last installment. I was already expecting Ben & Alicia's reunion (after over 20 years) but whoever thought we'd get to see Ben's Bar Mitzvah? I've been reading FF for over 35 years, and this was one of the most moving scenes I've ever read. In my opinion, Slott writes the character of Ben better than almost anyone else who's had a chance at bat. I really hope the same chowderheads who cancelled this book have enough sense to give him another shot at the character very soon.

wait a minute? Thing is cancelled?
From what I've read, yes.
They didn't even acknowledge it in this last issue, however, except for the "That's all folks! Bye!" in the last panel.

Marvel publishes a LOT of crappy books (in my opinion; sop does everyone else, of course) but they choose to cancel this exquisitely written series. Not even a re-launch, despite all the critical raves and groundswell of fan support. Best written Thing stories in many, many years.

 Way t'go, Marvel!

This run of The Thing has been one of my favorite runs of all the FF books ever published. Ben Grimm is a real likeable and deep character, and we've seen a LOT of character development and back story in this mag....Perhaps someone at Marvel will see this and relent. I enjoyed it far more than the Ultimate FF.

I actually read it a second time today. I can't say that about any other comic published by Marvel (or DC) in the last 20 years.
Terrific pacing, a roster of guest stars that showed true familiarity with the Thing's long history, plenty of genuine, earned laughs and that wonderful Bar Mitzvah scene...All of this packed into one comic...AND the reunion of Ben & Alicia!
Dan Slott has single-handedly revived my hope that Marvel could one day regain that old "House of Ideas" magic.
But of course, as soon as they catch lightning in a bottle, they toss it in the trash.

...and the Impossible Man's case of "Pop-Ups" (Uncontrollably changing from form to form) was hilarious. Dan Slott actually made me like this character after 30 years of indifference.
