I didn't violate any of that, Johnny's last name was just changed to something else and he was made just a friend to the family instead of Sue's sister, you still have your same cast.

That said though I don't think there's really anything that would make me see it at this point.

I really tried to give them a chance. Honestly, they could have convinced me really easily that they have learned from their mistake. I was open.

Of course, FF is a material that work way better in the MCU, because they are the heart of the Marvel Universe in the comics.

But, well, I wouldn't have blame Fox for that.

The only thing that I wanted to give them a chance was "a sign". "We have understood that the franchise has a big value, and will treat it like "The Wolverine""

The movie lost me with the casting, and now, with this casting, it's near impossible to convince me.

On the other hand, Trank pretty much convince me that he wanted to do his own universe, his own characters.

It's not a bad thing, not at all. I have no problem to seea (non FF) superhero movie from Trank with Miles Teller, Michael B Jordan and Jaimie Bell fighting a big female villain. I have no problem with that.

The problem I have is that it isn't Fantastic Four. Trank doesn't understand the FF and doesn't care of the materia.

I want a casting with a middle aged Reed and a middle aged Ben

I want a tough Ben

I want a Johnny who is like Johnny : the youngest of the FF and Sue Brother.

I want a complex and tortured Doctor Doom (and a male one)

I want the story of a dysfonctional family (with people from different age) traveling in epic and exotic alien worlds.

And I want a fun but epic movie.

So it's pretty clear that only a miracle can bring me to see it in theater.

At this point, I don't know, I'm not a big fan of the UFF comics but I don't totally hate them there have been a few that were ok.

To be fair, it's possible they might be playing different ages than they are in real life. Andrew Garfield is pushing 30, but damn if he can't play a convincing high school student. The family dynamic could still come across on screen.

Also, with the recent announcement, I think we can safely say they're no longer going with a female Doom.

I have no problem going for a UFF version of the Fantastic Four for this movie. I think that series had some missteps along the way but some of the storylines worked quite well.

I think the Annihilus storyline in particular was an excellent departure from the 616 version.
I also rather enjoyed the twists in introducing Thanos, and the Super Skrull.

UFF wasn't all bad. I think Ben, Johnny and Sue were portrayed pretty accurately from the get-go. The biggest damage was to Reed and Victor - arguably the most important characters to "get right".

Putting Victor in the original mix of the accident was a clear mistake, and I really think giving him the organic armor, poison breath and goat legs was just all kinds of wrong.

The problem with making Reed so young is that it's hard for characters in positions of authority to respect him with no prior evidence to support his position. He's supposed to be the premiere scientific mind on the planet. Coming from a kid, to characters like Fury and Stark - he's just some arrogant punk kid. The dynamic is lost.

I have very little confidence with this movie getting anything right beyond the names and powers of the main 4 characters. And that's why calling it the Fantastic Four seems to me the biggest failing of all.

This is a photo of the Hodgson twins. They are biological sisters whom have parents that are each half Black and half White. The Punnett Square demonstrates Mendelian inheritance and how one may arrive at such an occurrence with seemingly disparate organisms that share the same parents.

Given that the Fantastic Four is already science-fantasy, it would not be a far stretch at all to introduce actual science to explain a very real phenomenon. Even then, why would it matter if Johnny were adopted instead? Would that make Sue any less his sister? Would it make them have less familial love? Why do people struggle with the acceptance of blended families? This trend of thought has far wider reaching and poignant implications than the simple casting of a Hollywood film.

Yeah, I can see what you mean. I actually liked the portrayal of Reed and Victor before the accident, but I'll admit that they did take away some of Reed's leadership and authority, and they definitely dropped the ball with Doom.

I'm hoping they do something like TASM, where they take some elements of the Ultimate series and mix it with their own stuff, so that they don't have to carry over all the things that UFF got wrong.

Also, if we're talking visual resemblance, is the current cast really that far off? I guess you could say MBJ as Johnny, but he'll probably be on fire most of the time anyway, and he usually plays smartass teenagers anyway. Bell will be in a mocap suit and doesn't count, Mara only needs a little hair dye, and as far as Teller...maybe you could say he's a little too pudgy (he'll probably lose that between Divergent and this), but otherwise, I don't see how he fails to look like what most would expect a young Reed to look like. Just IMO.

I think getting powers from cosmic rays AND having a very very rare racial familial occurrence where neither sibling looks racially ambiguous might be too much suspension of disbelief for the audience. Lol. At least you're convinced that one of Johnny/Sue's parents will be black, I'm not convinced they'd change anyone else's race but Johnny's.

Because most people don't have powers in real life, they can buy whatever background you're going to give them for how the powers came to be because there aren't an abundance of them in real life. People have brothers and sisters and children in real life and 99% of the time they look similar or at the very least ambiguous, people have those real life examples that they see in their everyday life and other's everyday lives to draw from.

Siblings like the ones you've posted are so rare they're nearly unheard of and that's why the concept is met with such skepticism, i.e., not even in the real of thought when you say "brother and sister" or "siblings".

White Johnny and white Sue or black Johnny and black Sue. Either is more believable than having Jordan and Mara who look like polar opposites be related. Sure there are siblings who look like they're different ethnicities in real life but WHY do this with FF? Is there some reason why this has to be done other than catering to Josh Frank's friend? Did the old relationship not work/was it stale or disliked? I don't get it.
