It doesn't matter though because the movie hasn't done much at all for the sport. I know a lot of people like it, but it in no way pushed boxing forward. The sport had already been around ages before the movie, and many of the stars that elevated the sport after Rocky received no boost at all from him.
Julio Cesar Chavez was beloved because he was an icon to the Mexican people. That had nothing to do with Rocky.
Mike Tyson was one of, if not the, most exciting heavyweight fighter of all time. Nothing to do with Rocky.
The only people that need to be in the hall are people that directly contribute to the sport. Boxers, trainers, commentators, promoters. A popular movie is nothing compared to people physically contributing. Rocky came out thousands of years after boxing was originated. A very very small percentage of people watched the sport because of those movies.
Besides...all 6 of those movies suck hard!
