Sweet,
International teaser poster for the Dark Knight.
10/10 I would like to buy this poster.:batty:

I don't know; the first international poster and this one are perfectly juxtaposed . . . Batman is looking out at a massive city; the windows mimicking prison bars; it's very metaphorical . . . Batman has created his own prison, and it's this huge, daunting city . . . just look at the scope of it

in this one, it's the diametric opposite; you have Joker in the middle of a street, ready to wreak havoc, and he could be literally anywhere . . . it explains the movie's struggle in a nutshell . . . almost a 'this city's not big enough for the both of us' type showdown feel . . . and about Batman having to find a needle in a haystack . . .

YES! Wonderful analysis!

Don't know if this has been brought up before. But this poster and the last one with Batman in the building looking out seem to go very well together. Batman has the higher ground - his territory - and is probably looking for Joker, while Joker is down in the streets - his territory - waiting for Bats to come down and play... Both posters portray their respective points of view, there are strong undercurrents when you look at both posters side-by-side.

EDIT:

Damn it, you beat me to it... and I was all proud of myself for pointing out something cool, even though I'm just a newbie.

Awesome - 10/10. I'm definitely picking up the Batman and Joker ones. They'll look great side by side.

Thats the same feeling I got after seeing this, I like how there playing with the complete opposites idea.

Great posters, this one makes me appreciate the thematic elements mentioned about the last poster

Nice poster. Very well done........Just one thing though.....

I hope that this is not the beginning of what happened in the last Batman franchise. Joker is too prominent....drowning out Batman. The great thing about how this new reboot did was the fact that for the first time, it was about Wayne. The villains provided balance. But they didn't dominate the story. Nicholson, Carey, Devito, Lee Jones......They all became the movie.

I know this poster isn't meant to turn this into " Joker: The Movie", the silent message is pretty clear. Where's Batman in the poster?? No where to be found. They need to balance the ad campaign just a little.:brucebat:

I put this in the manip thread already but i just thought id stick it in here in case you were interested.

havent you seen the other poster? this is clearly placed as the opposite to the batman poster...it's not replacing him. plus, the ad campaign is only JUST getting started.

Not only that, but this is The Joker, a character that was played by Jack Nicholson. His portrayal has been, according the the average fan THE best portrayal of The Joker. While it may not be the best to everyone, it is definitely iconic; In order to get everyone on board with Ledger's version of The Joker, he is going to need some hefty promotion.

Good theory. I think that make sense there. Never thought of that.

Count the number of Joker-related threads on this front page compared to the number of Batman related threads...then tell me how much screentime you saw of him compared to that of Batman in the trailer. The Joker is the center front of this marketing for a reason. I can't speak for the GA much, but just about everyone here is more looking forward to Joker than Batman, I won't lie. Batman will definitely be prominent, probably more than Joker on the actual film, but Joker is why this movie is hyped to be one of the highest sellers of '08.

:hoboj:

hi-res poster...but darkened by me. I don't know why it's in the original size here, but it is 1024x1640. it's even in my desktop.

I'm probably being over-observant but did anyone notice that the very tiny cars in the poster are parked on the "American" side of the street but they're driving on the "English" side of the street...

EDIT: That or there's a median/building directly behind Joker and cars are parked on both sides of the divide. MAN do you think of weird stuff when you stare at a poster so long... :(

Definitely my fave so far.
