THIRD TOMB RAIDER MOVIE IN THE WORKS

[ December 18th 2006 ]

Eidos executive Ian Livingstone has confirmed a third Tomb Raider motion picture is in the pipeline, following months of speculation that SCi Entertainment Group - parent owners of Eidos plc - has been negotiating with Paramount Pictures to continue Lara Croft's silver-screen adventures.

According to an interview with British video-game magazine Eurogamer, Livingstone also reveals information on next generation Lara Croft, and has likened the detail of future Tomb Raider video-games to "like watching television."

"I've seen some of the in-game models and it's just like watching television; if you felt you were in love with Lara Croft previously, you ain't seen nothing yet. You'll be drooling when you see the new Lara as she appears in the next iteration." Livingstone said.

On a third motion picture, Livingstone says: "There's a possibility - we've been talking to Paramount, who've agreed to assign a scriptwriter. That's nowhere near the green-light process but it's a very healthy start to have a scriptwriter which they're going to pay serious amounts of money to write the first script."

I'm excited!! :woot: I hope they get AJ back! Although they probably will because she said she would return if they asked her to do another. :woot:

It's come to something when Hollywood will make sequels to movies that weren't even very succesful, just because they're well known franchises.

"RoboCop 3 flopped - quick, get RoboCop 4 into production!"

"WE MUST REDEEM OUR SELFS!!"

Tehe, i dont understand why they just dont invest in writters so they can come up with NEW film ideas, Hollywood is now remakes and sequals

Why not get actual writers...like sci-fi and fantasy writers to write scripts? They have plenty of amazing ideas....I don't get it.

I hope Rhona Mitra is going to play Lara and not Jolie.
Rhona was the first Lara model and should have been Lara in the first films.

I don't care who the first model was, AJ IS Lara Croft.
Besides, I've never seen Rhona act. She's probably alright, but AJ should be the one who plays Lara in the movies.

She was in Boston Legal and Nip/tuck.
here's her as Lara

To a lot of people, she is the one and only Lara, I'm one of them.

Agree, AJ is Lara. Think jolie looks more lilke lara than that chick. Though it doesn't really matter the franchise sux, just like the game(first and last game were good)
In all honesty, dont want another TR movie, really something else please. It had its shot and failed.

Just because she looks the part, doesn't mean she can play the part. :o

She was actually the first choice to play Lara, but Eidos fired for no reason. I'm not doubting Angelina's talent or her ability to play Lara Croft. But if they want to make a lot of the fans who have played the games since the one happy, then Rhona is the best choice. She went to interviews and E3's AS Lara, which is why people consider her Lara.

Tomb Raider 3 can still be a great movie, they just need a really good script and a good director. I heard that they plan on tying in Tomb Raider 8's plot with the 3'rd movie. But it's just a rumor though.

That would mean she would have Excalibur and would be looking for her mom...That would be awesome to see some action sequence's with Lara using Excalibur

She was just promoting the game, They get a new model to promote for every couple games. But I'm glad she didn't get the role. The movies wouldn't have been as successful if they had hired some unknown actress for the role.

I hope they wrap up the whole "I want my mum back" story line in the very beginning of TR8 and move on to something better.

You're right, it would not have.
But it's been a few years and she's done popular roles, such as Nip/tuck.

Here's what she looks like when she's not in the Tomb Raider suit.
