This May Be Your Show, But This Is MY Wrestling Thread! - Part 242

Putting the best worker in the world in a garbage match with a 47 year old non-wrestler at the biggest wrestling event in the biggest wrestling promotion in the world is as bad as it gets.

TNA has done some stupid, carny things throughout its existence an AJ Styles wasn't immune to it. Mostly because TNA is and has been a stupid, carny company. But they never sent him out there to carry a non-wrestler in a singles match at Bound for Glory.

So how did Mojo Rawley become friends with Gronk anways? I am glad that idiot didn't win last night, but also not surprised that Gronk (also an idiot) won a Super Bowl, as it happens when he's on the same team as "Roman Brady"

Damn, it'll be a decade in June since the Summer of Hell for the WWE: The Chris Benoit Scandal and the mass drug suspensions.

I wonder how much pressure there was for Dwayne Johnson from his own people to sever ties with the WWE for good back then.

rumor was quite a bit

it almost got to him being blackballed because of it, but rumors are his agent at the time backed Rocks position to not cut and run on the WWE

Have you ever gone one day without bashing the WWE? Just curious.

Do you ever not change the subject and default to complaining about my overall opinion regarding WWE when we are discussing specific topics? Just curious.

I've gone days and weeks without even thinking about WWE, let alone bashing it. I don't even post in this thread every day.

Let's say that concussion lawsuit gets out into the mainstream and the WWE gets a lot heat for it like the NFL did, what does he and John Cena do? Granted, Cena is not as big as the Rock is in Hollywood, but Cena is starting to make his name in Hollywood. If I am the Rock or at least his agent, I'd tell him to release a statement via social media about my association with the WWE if that happens as if he does not, he'll be asked about it a million times when he's promoting a future movie.

fami, you definitely don't post in here everyday. But it does feel like when you do come to this thread, it is to take a shot the WWE. Even when posting good news about another company, it seems you have to put in a dig on the WWE. And it isn't that the WWE doesn't deserve almost all the crap they get. It is just sometimes it seems to come out of nowhere.

That's my gimmick!

If you'll actually care to check, my first three posts in this thread today had nothing to do with bashing WWE.

One was the misunderstanding with you regarding semantics.

One was about Bryan Danielson's health.

The other was me actually reinforcing the point that AJ will be fine in WWE by pointing out that he has leverage.

There isn't a single negative word about WWE in any of those first few posts. What could be considered WWE bashing came later, after Dr Evil went out of his way to bring up my thoughts on WWE.

the WWE has been pretty proactive about having and 'adhering' to their concussion protocol so I don't think it would have much of an affect

its wrestler deaths by unnatural causes, another "summer of hell" could be crippling for the WWE (not sure of the chances, but you know what I mean)

Except for that time they decided to send Lesnar out there to get blood out of Orton by pummeling his head rather than blading, giving Orton a concussion. Not that the concussion was their desired result, but intentionally having a wrestler use stiff head shots for storyline purposes is dangerous and dumb. Just like Shibata doing it with headbutts in NJPW was dangerous and dumb.

But again, I don't think any scandal is bringing down WWE. They literally aired a tribute to a guy that beat his girlfriend to death earlier this year and nobody cared.

a jury determine that?

How in the heck is Tom Brady the "Roman Reigns" of the NFL? I get the Mojo Rawley comp (sorta), but that doesn't seem to work for Brady.

If anything, Brady is the Triple H of the NFL.

so you have Kimber Lee and Heidi Lovelace in NXT and Im still being subjected to Liv Morgan?

why do you do this to me NXT?

Jimmy Snuka definitely killed his girlfriend. A situation he didn't have to pay for do to his poor health. But all the evidence is there. So the tribute was really weird.

In Snuka's own book he says that Vince McMahon showed up to the police station with a briefcase, talked to the authorities, and was allowed to leave with Snuka. Snuka was never charged until the book itself came out, where he contradicts statements he gave in the original investigation.

Not saying I believe Snuka, but he implies that Vince McMahon essentially bribed people to help him get away with murder. So assuming (and that is, of course, a big assumption) that's true, it's not too surprising he would air the tribute.

It also probably has to do with Snuka being a relative of most of the pacific islanders in WWE, and wrestling in general.

I believe they've known each other for some time

Mojo went to Maryland (college ball) with two of the Gronkowski brothers, and thats how he met Rob

I think famicommander is the reincarnated nextnolan.

I think a lot has been said about the WWE, some of it that I agree with and others that I don't agree with. Especially the bit about AJ's Wrestlemania status.

For one, they reached out to one of their biggest EVER stars to have a match with AJ. If that doesn't tell you something, nothing else will.

http://www.cagesideseats.com/wwe/2017/3/23/15040068/wwe-shawn-michaels-vs-aj-styles-wrestlemania-33

"I guess I'm breaking something with you and I don't even know if I should but look, I mean, I could have had that match. They did not have an opponent for AJ at WrestleMania. ... It was just something 'hey, we don't have anybody to work with him and everybody would like to see you guys, are you interested?' And I said 'look, I wish that young man was here 10 years ago, man. I honestly do. I think he's very talented.' But I think him and Shane will have a pretty decent match."

Secondly, in addition to Shawn's own quote, the last two wrestlers that have faced Shane one on one are Randy Orton and the freakin' Undertaker.

You may not agree with the WWE and Vince, and that is more often than not the case, but in their eyes, Shane is a top tier draw.
The fact that WWE considers AJ to be at a level to have a match with Shane-which, and it bears repeating since people oddly seem to overlook that, is a very high profile match in the eyes of the Company, is an out and out positive for AJ and his status in the company!

They owe the fans good wrestling matches.

They don't care about putting good wrestling matches on at the biggest wrestling show there is.

That's the problem. It's not about how he's perceived by management, it's about how they're using him. It's a waste. You have the best wrestler in the world on the biggest platform in the world. All you have to do is get out of his way, and they didn't.

Reaching out to a retired Michaels doesn't really mean much.

There are two dozen guys in WWE that could deliver a match of the year candidate with Styles at Wrestlemania, and WWE decided to try and fail to get a retiree, and settled on an executive.

HBK is never coming back anyways. It's good to see him stick to that. Often times they retire only to come back.

Also at the NXT Tapings tonight:

It's about time she showed up because of who she is married to.
