This is in Misc. Films but can apply to your entire film collection, general film or CBM alike....

Are you a completist, even in the sense of there maybe a film series you really like or follow but has one / maybe two entries you are NOT a fan of but you will purchase / obtain them simply so you can say you have the full series.

Major 'for example' for myself, I love the Burton Batman films but hate the Schumacher ones, but in order to say I have that series as 'complete', I own BF and B&R, would I own those two films on their own IF they existed in the world without Burton's two films, no, absolutely not, but being a film completist and having certain 'order' and to a point, OCD about these things, I must own the full set.

Jurassic Park series is another, I have all of them except Fallen Kingdom, do I think FK is a film worthy of my collection ? No, but I'll buy it so I can see that's complete as a series.

Over to you guys, do you complete for completist sake or do you simply just say, I'll make do with what I like in that particular series.

100% yes I am a completist. I have a total collector's mentality. I have so many bad sequels I don't watch after the first time just because I need them for the set.

Funnily enough the only thing I can really think I have done this with is the Cheech & Chong movies lol.

Up In Smoke & Next Movie are god tier stoner movies and the only two any of me or my mates seen for years until one day we discovered there were quite a few more.

So we ordered them off Ebay the other four movies were Nice Dreams, Things Are Tough All Over, Still Smokin and The Corsican Brothers. And every single one of them was worse than the last one we watched lol but had to get them all to see if there was any other gems like the first two.

Can't speak for Die Hard but I would actually rate Genysis above 3 and 4.

I thought it was by fsr the worst Terminator movie, just nothing worked for me in that film. To add another 80's franchise to this mix I'm not sure I'll buy the last Predator film, I own all the others plus the AvP movies even though I've never watched the 2nd.

I own all the Terminator films, but I think someone gave me Genisys. Awful film. I agree, worst of the series. But I am not going to pretend like T3 or Salvation are also not terrible. Particularly Salvation. Terrible films.

It's actually the other way around for me, I really like a lot of Salvation, T3 I like the bike/crane chase but the rest is a mixed bag and the finale is very plastic looking.

You'd be better off staring at a blank screen for 90 minutes.

:funny: To be honest I'm not sure where my copy is, it's around here somewhere.

Salvation really didn't work for me on basically any level, LOL!!! I hated it top to bottom.

:funny: You didn't even like the Mototerminator's?

The whole movie felt like a video game to me. Closer to Michael Bay's Transformers. Not like Terminator at all. Also, that screen play was just awful. I was mentally checked out within 5 minutes ("So this is what death tastes like!".....ugh ). Also, Christian Bale is a great actor, but you would not know how talented he is based on that movie. He phoned it in hardcore.

Definitely not a completionist. I don't want any bad films in a franchise tainting my collection. :D

At one point I was but now I'm more selective. Some franchises I will complete (the MCU, Star Wars, Star Trek, at least as far as movies) but some others (Terminator, Alien/Predator, Jurassic Park) I just can't justify buying their lowest sequels.

For me, Salvation is WAAAAY better than T3. Salvation ain't anything to write home about, but it's better than 3 for me.

If there's a lesser entry in a series that I otherwise really like I'll sometimes get it, but there are limits. I'm a huge Batman fan, I own Batman, Batman Returns, and Batman Forever, but nothing will ever persuade me to own Batman & Robin. I love the X-Men movies, and own X-Men, X2,The Last Stand, First Class, The Wolverine, Days of Future Past (theatrical and Rogue), Apocalypse, and Logan. I will never own Origins: Wolverine.

I was quite a completionist for comic book movies, but I just couldn't force myself to watch "F4ntastic". I also missed Venom and Harbour's Hellboy. But I might catch those on a stream service later.

I’d call myself a selective completist. By that I mean certain series I have to, but others I don’t. So for example I love Halloween, original is one of my favorite films of all time. I love 2, 3,4, H20, and H’18. I think 4 is ok, 5 sucks, 6 kinda sucks, 6 P-Cut is ok, and I hate Resurrection, and the Zombie films. I own them all though as a fan of the series.

Meanwhile I’ve been a completist on the Marvel films, but with Endgame looking like a bit of a new beginning for the MCU, after Far From Home I’ll probably be more selective, since I don’t see them really building towards anything like Infinity War again for some time.

In every film series I collect, I would and do complete with every part of each series, good or bad.

Man we see this movie very differently lol, the fact we also see Bay differently may figure in, I like several of his films. I still maintain regardless of the movie the Moto-Terminators are one of the coolest sci-fi designs ever.

Same here. I can't complete an entire series without actually watching the complete portfolio of movies, even if it means tolerating some god awful films. But hey, all film is subjective, and I'm sure there are many movies we like that have terrible critic/audience reception.

I maintain a high quality control system, if its not good enough its not getting bought just because its part of a series I otherwise enjoy. Only own the X-films that I consider good and will likely rewatch, but the dross gets cut, same with the MCU, which I'm not so hot on so is mainly Cap and Avengers only.

To be honest I dont buy that many probably 1% of what most people on here buy so I'm probably in the minority of this lol.

Just debating whether to add the 4th MD Jason Bourne film to my collection as I have his trilogy and I even have the JR spin-off film so seems appropriate to do so :funny:

Just ordered on Amazon, Minority Report & The Colour Purple on Blu-ray to complete my Spielberg collection. I now have my joint favourite director's 'full house'.

I never collect films that I don't like. I don't care if they're part of the series/filmography/whatever. I value each film on it's own. There are series or directors that never had a stinker in my mind, so I certainly can grab a full collection, but I'll never pay money and waste space for the likes of Terminator sequels post T2 or majority of Bond movies.
