THQ going under?

Whoever wins in the auction today gets everything except the South Park game?,So games like WWE'14 will be non-THQ after so long!?

I thought they were selling things individually?

Not sure how up to date the info is, but a bidder can buy THQ as a whole IF their bid is higher than the price of all of the assets being sold individually.

South Park's distribution rights are in dispute right now and it looks as if IPs not owned by THQ such as Warhammer 40k and WWE have reverted back to their IP holders.

Depends on what makes the most money. If buying THQ as a whole makes more money, that's the bid that wins. If selling individual assets makes more money, that's what wins.

The current high bidder for Relic Entertainment (Company of Heroes, Warhammer 40k, Homeworld) is Sega. The current high bidder for Volition, Inc. (Red Faction, Saint's Row) is Koch Media. The auction for these assets is still ongoing and is apparently going at a slow pace.

Haha. Just came in to post that. Thanks for keeping the thread updated.

Who would be the IP holder for WWE games?,Yukes(developer)or WWE??

A Relic employee is reporting that Warner Bros., Sega, Electronic Arts, and Ubisoft are all bidding for Relic. Distressed Debt Investing is reporting that Ubisoft is a contending bidder for some THQ assets.

Ubisoft is rumored to take up South Park: Stick of Truth, Joakim N. Mogren is claiming to be bidding on a THQ franchise.

XD

I wonder what franchise he could be bidding for.

It's being reported that Koch Media has bought Volition.

Reports are coming in saying that THQ was not allowed to sell South Park, Sega has come out on top for Relic Entertainment and Company of Heroes for $26 million, Crytek has come out on top for Homefront for $500,000, Koch Media has come out on top for Turtle Rock Studios' Evolve for $5.2 million. Volition Inc., Vigil Games, the publishing rights to Metro and Warhammer 40k have not been sorted out yet.

I saw in a site that Ubisoft bought South Park. Yay if so.

The public hearing has been delayed until 3 PM because the auction is still going on. The auction started yesterday at 3 PM. Have to take all these reports as rumors for now.

EA is rumored to have obtained the WWE license.

Or 2K. Hasn't EA denied/passed on the WWE license before, calling it not a real sport?

UPDATE: @VancouverTim on Twitter is reporting that the THQ auction has completed. ClearLake didn't win, so individual assets are being broken up.

I'm okay with anyone getting the WWE license as long as they don't pick up Yukes as well. It will mean the first real NEW WWE game in forever.

So THQ is done. Clearlake is out and they're left with no studios or franchises.

So could there be confirmation today on who ends up with WWE games?

Yes. There's going to be a public hearing later today. (Assuming all of the bidding gets wrapped up.)

Edit: Or maybe not? I'm not sure how the licensing stuff works.

The WWE license wasn't apart of the auction, WWE was free to find a new publisher on their own. More than one source has claimed they worked out a deal a few days ago but they haven't announced anything yet.
