Why? The game is not even out for another 2 1/2 months and it was just recently announced. I'm sure Best Buy will add it soon.I don't even see the PS4 version of Rise listed on Best Buy for preorder.
that's why I went with Gamestop instead.
That's weird, I could've swore it was at some point. But I checked and it turns out it was the PS3 version, not PS4.I was hoping they'd give it away on
Plus but looks like that won't happen now

Adventure games have always been my first love. When the opportunity came to join Crystal Dynamics, I had to jump on it. This is the home of Lara Croft, who is a legend in action-adventure gaming and a pillar of the industry. Ive admired Crystals work for a while now, as they continue to deliver top notch narrative and spectacle, coupled with deep systems and player choice. Im very excited about where the studio is headed and Im eager to be a part of it.

Surprised no one has really been talking about this, considering how many people seemed to be waiting for the PS4 version.
But I'm about halfway through this and I'm totally loving it. I love the progression and the fact that the game feels just challenging enough that I get stuck for a minute and then feel smart when I figure it out without a guide. It really does remind me of what I loved most when I first played Arkham Asylum.
I had it pre-ordered, but knowing it's going to go on sale in the next month, I gave that pre-order to my brother and got it from gamefly instead, luckily. The plan is to finish the story before the weekend so I can return it and jump into Skyrim. I might get a Pro next month too, so I'd love to go back and get all the trophies while playing it in 60fps, since I doubt I'll be getting a 4K TV anytime soon.good to hear!
I've got it, but I've actually been holding off playing it until I get the Pro.
want to see Lara looking her best.![]()
I'm probably about halfway through the game, but I can totally see where you're coming from. There's a little "twist" that happens fairly early in the game, and I think it would have been better suited happening later on. The story, as with the first one, is utterly forgettable and is definitely not what is motivating me to continue.I very excitedly picked it up for PS4. I adored the previous game and hated having to wait, but I kept away from spoilers so when I eventually got to play it, I went on knowing nothing about it.
I was...disappointed to say the least.
It isn't a terrible game by any means, but it is a significant step down in quality from the last one in many ways for me. The story was the weakest link for me, quickly followed by the combat, which was short and very rare in the game. The villains were boring and their history with Lara meant nothing since they weren't in the previous game. Same with Lara's entire need for searching for this treasure. It was all so rushed. I think if the game had a slower burn at the start it might have helped, but I just didn't care about the story or characters at all. Everything we found out during the DLC should have been in the beginning of the game in some way; it would have helped with Lara's motivation for me. I didn't like being stuck in the same map for the entire game again either, and was disappointed by the size as well.
The game did have some good moments and locations, but they too were truncated by this rushed feeling and overall lack of substance that permeated the entire game for me. I dunno...I'm glad I finally got to play it, but it was just a step down for me.
Yeah, I found myself wondering several times if my view on the game would be better had I not played Uncharted 4 half a dozen times before playing this. The comparison might not be fair, but the games are similar enough that one can't really avoid comparing them.I'm probably about halfway through the game, but I can totally see where you're coming from. I hate to be the one to do this, but in regards to comparing it to Uncharted, I stand by my belief that Uncharted knocks it out the park with story, narrative and characters, while the gameplay, especially in 4, feels a bit repetitve. But Tomb Raider fixes that with some solid gameplay, mostly because of the progression with different equipment and RPG elements, but outside of Lara, no one is really interesting.
They're totally two different types of games about similar characters, but where one fails, the other tends to succeed to the point where if they were mashed together, it would be an amazing experience overall. But for now, Tomb Raider feels more fun, whereas Uncharted feels like a nice experience.
Yeah, aside from Jonah appearing early on, this almost felt like a stand alone story. I haven't played the manor DLC stuff, but just going by what's in the game and what I've experienced so far, I feel like all the father stuff is there more to tie in with the lore of the character, as opposed to being some type of logical progression from the first game.Yeah, I found myself wondering several times if my view on the game would be better had I not played Uncharted 4 half a dozen times before playing this. I feel like with this game, they had a lot of ideas to improve over the previous, and had begun to implement them, but then decided "No, we should wait to do this for the next game" and only left bits and pieces.
One of my biggest issues with the story is how they handled Lara's experience in the last game. Trailers made it seem like this game's story would deal heavily with Lara coming to terms with what happened on the island. This is something I thought would be a great idea; you never see video games deal with the main character's emotional state and ptsd from previous games. I was pretty disappointed to see that this aspect of the story was pretty much relegated to nothing more than a few collectable notes. I think they missed a great opportunity here.
Well I'm curious now, because wasn't the Manor stuff added just recently as DLC, even on the X-Box version? It would seem that they added it in as an after thought because the original version released last year didn't fully tell the story. The Manor DLC was enjoyable, but it was nothing more than finding and picking up notes. I enjoyed the story these notes told, but feel that the entire game would have been better had they modified this DLC to be the beginning of the main game, or even split up as periodic flashbacks.
