Wrong franchise.
We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, is all ancient history. Then, before you can blink an eye, suddenly, it threatens to start all over again. And you don't watch the smash hit Star Trek: Discovery, airing Sundays at 8(?).

I don't know how CBS All Access works.

Seems like Trump style would be to get your own ass whooped. With a rolled-up copy of Forbes magazine, apparently.

Well that's exactly what I meant as I have never played the game. ;)

I did luck out on my first zpack and got a SS3 Goku avy.

I haven't even played it yet, so you're ahead of me. I also got Monster Hunter World today, and I haven't decided which one to start first. So, instead, I'm watching basketball.

I think I want to buy this chocolate to find out what an old book tastes like. Even though I can go to a used book store and nibble on some old copies of David Copperfield.

Gotta love the paradox of choice. Happens to me all the time.

I started rewatching DS9, since it airs in sequential order every Thursday on a channel here, and it just reset back to the start. I still say it has the best pilot/introduction of any Star Trek series. Hits that ground running, as the kids may say.

...WHY ISN'T IT ON BLURAY.

Well I did half the battle training and did a local arena match with some other guy that was brand new. Got my ass kicked. :hehe:

I used to watch it on Amazon when they had, and I think still do, Trek series and films. Watch one TNG, then a DS9 and finish with a TOS.

Here... Eh, I kinda disagree. While I think DS9 was maybe the most complex of the 90's trek shows I think much like TNG it takes a while to get it's footing. Honestly until elements like Worf, the Defiant and the Dominion really kick in it feels like it's spinning it's wheels to me. Now once Ben shaves the head, gets promoted and the Dominion become the big baddies it's just a show that draws you in and the writing gets pretty sharp.

What's some of your favorite episodes of DS9 Bri?

In the Pale Moonlight is my favourite Star Trek episode of any series. Trials and Tribble-ations is good fun, if a bit fan-servicey. Far Beyond the Stars and Duet are right up there too.

I forgot Take Me Out to the Holosuite.

Death to the Opposition.

Oh man... Pale Moonlight is one of the best episode of that era. It's Trek getting "mature" in it's outlook. It goes into a place you never expected and you don't know what's the end point for most of the episode really. When the Romulan comes in and says "It's a fraud!" I was like... How are they going to resolve this? Given the way that you expect Trek to go you don't even consider what actually does happen at the end. Also... It just shows how well crafted the character of Garak was. Because he was the character that could "go there". Brilliant to have him be this X factor to so much.

Speaking of Garak... IMPROBABLE CAUSE and THE DIE IS CAST are two of my faves that focus on him and his background. Great performances and a furthering of the mythology by really getting into the idea of secret intelligence agencies in the world of Trek.

And for whatever reason I dug any episode with the Jem'Hadar, so A TIME TO STAND and ROCKS AND SHOALS are always gonna be on my fave list as is BY INFERNO'S LIGHT.

It's Only a Paper Moon

It's funny how Quark, Nog and Rom became such rich characters. Granted... I think shoe horning Quark into every story sometimes got tiresome but I loved the character and the actor.

A lot of people aren't big on Section 31, but for the same reasons you mentioned, I loved them. If you want to avoid the Federation becoming just a parody of the "perfect utopia" trope, there would have to be something like that. There would have to be something willing to get its hands dirty to protect paradise.

Also, Section 31 doesn't **** around. They get after things hard. "Oh, these Dominion ****s are a real problem, and their whole operating orders are based on these shapeshifters' racism against non-shifters. Take them out, and we're probably done here. We'll just do that." They're entirely morally wrong to do it, but... that's why they got stopped.

The Weinstein thread is officially the worst place on the hype.

All men need to be arrested. No matter what. Fart in an elevator? You're ****ed.

This is why it's a shame you can't see CHAOS ON THE BRIDGE on Canadian Netflix Bri. The creators talk about how, as important and brilliant as Rodenberry was, so much of the success of TNG and DS9 are due to them stepping outside the confines of the parameters Gene laid down sometimes.

Yeah, I don't get the dislike of Section 31. It just makes sense, and when you look at the times that the Federation was almost taken over or subverted by hostile forces, I mean, of course there's going to be some kind of group within to handle those threats as well as intelligence and counterintelligence.

Sawyer's gif description is pretty accurate. That place is a bomb waiting to go off.

To be honest, I've always wanted a Section 31 show. But then they were the secondary antagonists in Into Darkness, so I guess that's something. Plus they had a badass ship. USS VENGEANCE. WE'RE SUBTLE.

Man... I had the same thought when I was a wee lad. Basically a MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE type show set in the Trek universe.

The Weinstein thread definitely has an expiry date. Something will happen, and it'll be shut down. It's skirted it a few times already, I think. Because some people aren't arguing to convince others, they're arguing to talk down to others. That will never end well.

Posted an opinion there a time or two in the past but it's getting more heated. And now chaester is stirring the pot so you know it's gonna get worse.

I retired. Don't wish for the hydroreek bomb.

As a lovely lady just said to me... Affleck and Weinstein...

A nickel and a quarter are the same cause they are both coins.

She was joking.
