Thundercats are coming!

the first post said it was going to be cgi animated, as I tried to point out before, I think alot of people missed that in their excitement

Cats with swords equals bad arse. This has the same widespread appeal as Transformers it works our right. It's a winner

except for this little ****, I really fcken hate him. He's the only thing that can screw this up.

and this SHOULD be a live action. I don;t see what's so hard about getting it right so it doesn't look silly. They're faces don't need to be very extreme. It's the potential for cool looking cat-like movements in their bodies that will be harder to do, and more worthwhile in the end. What's the fighting style for a cat?

By the time this is ready for production mo-cap and will be advanced enough to make this look killer.

There's a live action thundercats movie, Nepenthes.

Check out the second link I posted.

I found these on the net some time ago now, don't remember where..

I would love for a live action film. I don't think it would look silly, I mean if they can do Hellboy and the Turtles, why not the Tcats. It's not as though they have prominent feline features, they still look human just with feline like hair and markings. It would be the Mutants who need the most work done but again, if they can do Hellboy they can do Slithe.. I always thought this would be a good cast;

Lion-O - Wentworth Miller
Tygra - Oded Fehr
Panthro - Ving Rhames
Cheetara - Jeri Ryan
Slithe - John Leguizamo
Mumm-Ra - Hugo Weaving

i agree, those pictures look prettydamn to be real versions. hopefullywe'll get a really great special effects team for this film.

Personally I would love to see Del Torro direct a live action Thundercats..

I think that's great. It's the best way to pull of a good film.

Dolph Lundgren as Lion-O...nah!
hehehe.
The other two pictures look fantastic, though.

O'Flaherty Directing Big Screen Thundercats
Source: Variety
October 9, 2007

Video game veteran Jerry O'Flaherty will direct Warner Bros.' CG-animated Thundercats feature, based on the popular '80s cartoon series, comic book and toy line.

The project marks the first feature directing gig for O'Flaherty, who served as an art director on such bestselling games as "Gears of War" and "Unreal Tournament 3" for Epic Games and the "Command and Conquer" series from Westwood Studios.

"It feels like a natural thing for me to step into," O'Flaherty said. "Games have come so far now. The last four years of my life have been about bringing the energy of filmmaking into the video game experience."

O'Flaherty will now work with screenwriter Paul Sopocy on the script.

Warner-based Paula Weinstein will produce through her Spring Creek Productions, along with Dick Robertson and Lew Korman.

The origin story expands on the major heroes and villains from the animated series, with the plot focusing on Lion-O coming of age as the leader of the Thundercats.

The property revolves around a group of humanoid cats who must flee the planet of Thundera, which is destroyed. Once crash-landing on another planet, Third Earth, they must thwart Mumm-Ra, an evil sorcerer bent on killing them off.

:csad: CG...

Snarf wasn't the problem and was never annoying. He had an actual purpose to the show and the public gets miscontruted of this. The annoying one was his nephew Snarfer wh oshowed up a few times in season one but got a lead role for season 2.

He was smaller, cuter and had a higher-pitched voice and no real point and was supposed to be not only one of the "fresh new faces" but the comic relief.

He's the cousin Oliver of animation.

should be cool if done right, but still more interested in the new live action masters of the universe

This movies as CG is the way to go and I have more faith in this than I ever will in, a live action DBZ movie. That panthro pick looks sick!!

Please god don't let this movie suck. Thundercats rule!

If they were to do a live action version of this, the best possible idea for a teaser trailer would be to do as much of a replica of the original beginning sequence as possible but updated in some parts...

Thundercats has one of the best opening sequences (guitar rift included) ever up to the point jaga shows up...

if they showed those 30 seconds of footage, I'd go and watch the film no matter how bad it was and never complain.

YOU'D HAVE TO BEAT ME TO IT!!!:o:oldrazz: I'M A HUGE, HUGE, THUNDERCATS FAN, I GREW UP WITH THEM, I HAVE THE WHOLE SERIES ON DVD!!!:D:up: I WOULD KILL FOR A LIVE ACTION VERSION, BUT I'LL TAKE WHAT I CAN GET AND THIS WAS A SMART DECISION, IT'S A HARD PROPERTY TO PULL OFF IN LIVE ACTION!!!:( IF THEY DO THIS LIKE BEOWOLF THOUGH, I'LL BE THE HAPPIEST GEEK ON THE PLANET!!!:D:up:
