WB is remaking Thundercats.....!!!!

A thundercats remake could have been so cool if done like the new He-Man. Making them a rock band from LA... its like a bunch of executives were in a room on drugs and were like "Hey, remember that Sonic the Hedgehog show where they were in a rock band? Lets do that with cats. They can cover AC/DC or something. Thunderstruck Cats. HEY! Thundercats!"

Mumm-Ra is surpisingly decent.

Lion-O on the other hand looks like a part time rent boy.

blunder, blunder ,BLUNDERCATS NO!!!

It's a good thing Thundercats was craptacular to begin with.

Dear God in heaven. I am just glad they have DVD's of all of the old series. Because now I might have to pay for cable anymore if TV keeps going the way it is.

I actually don't mind that Lion-O redesign... that is, if they were going to go along the path of not having him aged when he arrives on Earth.

But the series pitch itself sounds aweful. Beyond aweful. It sounds like an animated version of Mutant X... thats the sort of standard we're dealing with here :(

Sounds like someone wanted to do a remake of josie and the pussycats but with real cats and to market it to boys they combined it with thundercats.

I liked this cartoon as a kid - I was probably more into Thundercats than He-Man, the animation was better and the moral lessons were a little less in-your-face. This sounds like total crap.

Why does mumm-ra look like he's standing on tiptoe? :( I am so bummed.

The problem with a lot of the "new" animation shows is that we have a group of people at the networks who think that children should be talked down to. To get any series on televison these days they have to follow a dumbed down formula. As well as be "kid safe".

This reimaging of the Thundercats is sad. As it removes a lot of the mythic feel that the original had. Because someone somewhere at WB thought children couldn't follow such larger storylines. The larger storylines with all those intricate mysteries and subplots ARE what made the series interesting.

I'm betting you're pretty close.

I saw Thundercats as a kid, never really tickled my fancy, and the voice acting is horrible.

some concept art that was found on dev art a few months ago

lion-o

mum-ra

If you read the comments the guy who drew it says that they eventually passed on the show alltogether. Which means one of 2 things.

1)We have nothing to fear, they're not remaking thundercats into a farce
or
2)This is like the alternate TMNT art that was posted on the TMNT site from a rival studio pitching the concept. Which means we'll get the series, it just won't be like this.

WB animation is remaking the Thundercats as an animated TV series.
The animation style is whimsical, Americanized-anime, along the lines of Teen Titans.
The setting is modern-day Earth, in a major city (possibly LA)
The Thundercats are all teenagers.
Their leader is Snarf (!) who is now a mystic with a "third" eye.
Each of the Thundercats has a weapon with an "Eye of Thunderra" and transformative powers (not just Lion-O)
When they aren't fighting evil, the Thundercats play together as a rock band. That's not a typo, or a joke. They are rockin' cats in their present form.
Mum-Ra now has wings.
And I bet he laughs a bit more than he used to =P
Developing...

holy forking shnit...

that is so lame, i don't even know what to say.

rock band? snarf the leader? on earth? GAY!!!

although mumra with wings and everyone having a nifty weapon sounds pretty cool.

In the UK G.I.Joe was known as Action Force, don't ask me why.

If you lived in the UK and watched dubbed episodes of G.I.Joe then yes that version sucked, because the voice actors simply took out the Yo Joe battle cry and replaced with a lame shout out of Full Force! :down

My head hurts from having banged it on the desk so hard.. what the hell are they thinking? Well obviously they aren't.. Thundercats has a lot of potential to made into a good cartoon but that just sounds like crap.. and the DVDs aren't even out in the UK yet, what the hell is going on there!?

I suppose giving Mumm-Ra wings doesn't sound too bad at first and setting it on Earth could turn out to be ok.. ish.. but I mean what about the Mutants? Are they gonna be a group of street punks that Mumm-Ra gives them the power to turn into 'Mutants' at will? And what about the Thundertank? They're gonna be too young to drive aren't they? And Snarf as the leader? What is that all about?

Yet another classic childrens show getting the preverbial ass raping :o :(
