Tim Burton's Dark Shadows

My mom remembers watching the show and will probably be interested for that reason and because of Depp.

Wow....I just saw the trailer online and can I just say that is not what I was expecting.

I really hope this an example of a bad trailer for a good movie, because that was very underwhelming. I was hoping for something akin to Sweeney Todd's tone when this was announced. As I heard of more comedy, I would have accepted a Beetlejuice-styled/toned movie. But this looks like Mars Attacks! in the trailer. It looks like one of those Levinson-directed Addams Family movies from the '90s. :(

I really hope the movie is much better than that. Burton says he does not consider it a comedy and Depp was a huge fan of the show, but that trailer complete with its music choices makes its look awful.

is there a recorded HD? i will nto watch the bad quality from youtube.

I was grinning all the way through the trailer. It looks appropriately absurd and love the '70s glam rock/disco setting.

'May you strategically place your wonderful lips upon my posterior and kiss it repeatedly.'

I don't know much about the show(I only saw the "House of Dark Shadows" film)I have to say I laughed during the trailer and found it pretty enjoyable.Totally not what I expected, but enjoyable nonetheless.

I forgot to mention, Johnny Depp and Eva Green look to have some great chemistry in this. I can't remember the last time I noticed he had such chemistry with a leading lady.

Eva Green was the one thing, besides the cinematography, that I really liked in the trailer. She can steal the show. I just hope the show is better than what we were shown in the trailer.

Now we can understand why WB is having difficulties trying to market this, sure some of the humor is low-brow but I don't mind and jeez, some of the fans are disliking and even saying it's a parody. I think the trailer just focused on the comedy and campy aspects of the movie instead of showing everything what the movie is, which frankly is hard to do since it seems to be combining a lot of elements, this is just a few minutes from the movie trying to sell to the general audience so we can't really say that it'll be just a straight-up comedy from start to finish, all I know it's that I'm onboard with what they're doing.

i was looking forward to a good old fashion horror film and im getting a comedy!i thought this would be dark and scary like the series!this looks like addams famliy or the munsters.this will bomb for sure!they could have made a good vampire flick that not like twilight but more like the hammer films!no burton and depp went the comedic route!

I'm not sure what to think of that trailer. It looks like you could easily reset the music cues to make the footage more dramatic.

Which makes sense since he cheated on his longtime girlfriend with her. It's Mr. and Mrs. Smith all over again.

The thing is the three words I'd used to describe the show are: "Gothic," "Haunting," and "unintentional-camp" (okay I know that's technically four words).

When you watch movies like Edwards Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, Sweeney Todd and even his Batman films (think Bruce's flashback of his parents dying, the birth of the Penguin, the final 10 minutes of BR)....he has all those traits in spades.

For him to just dumb DS down into a parodic comedy is not only disappointing, it's a letdown for what he can do. I really hope this is a bad trailer for a good movie. Recall that WB marketed Sweeney Todd as a feel-good dark-drama with neither singing or cannibalism acknowledged in the trailer.

just like the mr. and mrs. smith situation. It'll be a rumour for a long time and then evenutally it will come out to be true.

God this movie looks terrible. It feels like they're making a big joke out of it

yeah thats my take it looks like a joke! it looks like they were afraid to make a horror movie out of this! they went with depp doing is sparrow imitation as barnabas!

Anytime Burton upsets fans of the source material (Batman, Planet of the Apes, Alice in Wonderland) he gets a big hit. So, I wouldn't bet on this flopping.
those 3 movies didnt look like bombs when they came out!

It doesn't look like they're making light of it at all.

At worst, it looks to be in the vein of Edward Scissorhands or Sleepy Hollow - and neither of those were "jokes", they're two of Burton's best.

If I were a hardcore fan of Dark Shadows, I might be a little disappointed they didn't go with the grimly dark and serious setting of the original show - but Burton's more gothic and fantastical imagery is hardly light or comedic in and of itself.
