No but today batches from New line and Universal for their upcoming movies this year were sent to Comingsoon and Latino Review and probably other sites so I'm sure Fox will be doing something similar soon

If they don't use Doug Jones then I nominate Michael Ansara. For those who don't know this person, he is the voice of Mr. Freeze from the Batman: The Animated Series. I think it may be a good fit and he's definitely not "well known"

That's Dougie, not his SS voice, which is much lower, measured and well-modulated. But hey, that's fine. Fox will do what they want anyway.

He doesn't use his regular speaking voice for SS. He only gives you a few words in the voice he did use towards the end of the interview. You have to pay attention or you miss them.

I wish we could hear a sample of how Doug sounds in the role. That would help me determine which direction I'd like to see them go. But for now, what's wrong with Doug's? Just add some SFX synthesizing (sp?) to it in order to give it some otherworldly flavor.

For the Silver Surfer I was thinking either:

Michael Rosenbaum or David Hyde Pierce.

Each would be a completely different a vision of the Surfer and how he would come to life but both could do him justice and are accomplished voice actors.

It's a moot point, as the blog has been removed, and about time too. There is something so patently unprofessional about a director touting something that is a matter between a studio and an actor (its called a contract) about in a public forum as though it is an amateur dramatics project at a local high school. It is also not only unprofessional, but thoroughly thoughtless. If this had been done to Michael, Chris, Ioan or Jessica there would have been outrage and quite rightly so.

Now the blog has gone, let's get on with anticipating what we will see - and hear - on the screen in June.

I'm sorry, but I'm not understanding your comparison to the other actors....their parts are far different than Doug's for this movie.....

We all (most of us here) have one thing in common......we want the best voice for the Silver Surfer......whether that is Doug or someone else is really of no consequence....

Not one post on this thread has been a personal attack against Doug.....IF ANYTHING.....he has gotten the same fan approval that Michael got when people heard he was on for Ben.....

You seem to be fighting for people to approve of Doug.......and WE DO.....

Honestly (I could be wrong....maybe there was a cartoon I missed or something....) but no one really knows what the Silver Surfer sounds like.....so even if Doug or someone else voices the part....BE READY.....the opinions will fly....because NOT EVERYONE WILL BE HAPPY......they never will be....no matter how much you campaign.....people will have their opinions.....you are blessed that people have embraced Doug as the Silver Surfer......

As far as Michael getting to use his own voice????? Michael has been practicing for this part his entire life.......from the first meeting on......Ari, Tim, Stan.....heard the voice.....and loved it......WHY? because we know what Thing's voice can sound like....we have heard it......and for many it is also what they heard when they read the comics.....that was the voice in their head....WE DON'T HAVE THAT TO GO ON....with Doug......therefore the opinions are being withheld.....NOT AGAINST DOUG....just waiting..... Wait and see with us.......but jousting with people....will only get people hurt.....

However well-intentioned it may or may not have been, it is still unprofessional - but then I'm not looking at it from a fan's perspective, so sorry iffen I seem a bit snitty. I'm just tired of having my ass chewed by Studio Suits, and perhaps I'm turning paranoid in my old age.

As for the voice .... meh - I'm happy to wait and see. I've always said that Studios do what they want, and I've always replied when people ask if Doug is doing the voice that it sounds likely, but don't hold your breath - you never know what the studio will decide.

And I appreciate the support Doug has had and is still receiving from fans - he has been astounded by the kindness and good will he has received from everyone, and that makes me a happy ol' Hellmistress. But don't expect me to sit on my hands or zip the lips when there is a storm raging in which Doug is stuck in the middle through no fault - Ioan's fans or Jessie's wouldn't tolerate it either. So forgive me if I get a little defensive - we Scots are a prickly race. But you have to admit I'm polite about it.

Perhaps it is something that they're currently concentrating on and he just mentioned it in passing. I'm sure he's facing decisions/frustrations aplenty in many areas.

This isn't the first time he's done something like this. He mentioned He filmed Julian in armor, he took that down the next day. He may have been trying to get something across before he took down the blog or Fox did, maybe he wants fans to flood Fox with e-mails and letters or something, I think at this point he knows he's going to be jerked around by them a lot so maybe he wants all the hell he can get.
