Tips for the care and handling of 1/6 scale collector figures

I'm new to the collecting of these mixed media large figures. I just recently got the DCD 13" classic comics Joker and Batman and it seems to me these are gonna take a bit more care than the typical all plastic figure, and since these babies can get quite expensive, I was wondering anyone had care and handling tips either specific to a particular figure (like if the hands on my comics Joker are removable, and how I can do that without damage) or for figures in general.
To start it off , I would suggest not eating before and during the handling to avoid staining the clothing. Might be a good idea to wash your hands before handling, too. Any more?

I wouldn't put your displays near windows as some figures may experience fading due to sun exposure.
 
Any tips on washing/cleaning the clothing should they get dirty?
 
I don't know bud. I don't really get figures with any type of cloth material. So depending on the material, maybe you could use a Tide stick or something if you really needed too.
 
If anything I'd say handwash any if the fabric goods with minimal soap and let it air dry to minimize shrinking. I only have 2 1/6 scale figs, one is a Sideshow Scarface and the other a DC Direct Batman (non-movie version). I've left them MOC for now so I couldn't tell you from experience but if/when I open them and they'd get dirty I'd more than likely do what I said. Hope it helps

if i was willing to shell out money on these figs... it'd be 2 simple rules for me, and nothing could break them... BOX, or GLASS CASE ONLY!, it's the only way to guarantee perfection, and dirt and dust free
 
Yah, I must say, generally I'm a break-it-out-of-the-box-and-put-it-on-display kinda guy, but I'm being real careful with these. Right now, they're in their boxes and I have only had them on display for a short time. I do want to display them again, but I do admit I'm a little more nervous about it than I am with my cheaper figures.
 
Yeah Like Spidey said......I woudl highly recomend an enclosed glass display case.....that way there'll be a hell of a lot less dust.....like virtually none.

even for all my 1/12 scale stuff the dust get's to be a pain......then again I am a bit of a slob and also have two dogs running around my place.......more dust then a common home.


So yeah, glass case or even a plastic fishtank type thing.....Mcfarlane toys used to make em....not sure what size though....

here's one...it's a smaller one but I know they do make some for the 1/6 scale....it's the shure fire way to ensure a damage free fig

or if you want them all displayed together........I dunno, any enclosed glass case....the one with the best nicest to cheapest ratio that I know of is the Detolf from Ikea.....it's not 100 pervent sealed but it does the trick....

Sounds expensive. But, then again, so are the figs! Something to think about.
 
ikeas glass cases run like $60+ it's there pretty cheap and really worth the money
