Sorry if this is in the wrong forum...I could have sworn there was a TMNT forum but I don't see it now. Anyways, the CGI TMNT movie has been on HBO alot recently and I really can't say how much I really enjoyed this film. There was talk right around the time the first movie was released about a sequel...but I haven't heard anything since. Anyone know if it's still happening? Any new news??

The last thing I heard from the TMNT/Mirage website is that they're working out different ideas on the sequel. Warner Bros. green light it but the one snag I heard is that Imagi is pissed off how Warner Bros. didn't really did enough to help the first movie out. Speaking on the TMNT part of this board, X-Men last stand came out two years ago and all they have are rumors about an spin off movie with younger X-men their board is still up, Ghostrider came out almost a year ago and there's haven't been too many talks about a sequel and he still has a forum. TMNT have another season coming up and at least there's been talk about a sequel yet nothing.

I hope that the sequel can improve on part one. I didn't feel TMNT at all.

I thought they did a good job with it , but I wasn't too crazy about the villian. Im suprised the haven't moved forward with a sequel by now.

A friend of mine (NO, it's not really me) thought the first CG movie was the best thing since sliced bread so I'm sure he'd love a sequel.

Despite what seems to be a common misconception on the internet, the plot of TMNT is very much in keeping with the original comics. Despite the gritty, urban ninja violence of those classic issues, there were also robots, aliens, monsters, space travel, time travel, and lots of Kirby-style stuff.

I was not taken with TMNT at first. I thought it superficial, not very engaging and just annoying in it's depictions of Michaelangelo as a stereotypical idiot dude, and Don as a techno geek. And the fight scenes are hard to follow and not very exciting. And throwing in the thirteen monsters as well as the stone immortals and the Foot Clan is just too much...

However, after three or four viewings, I now like the film. The films puts the story at the forefront, and does well in it's combination of character development between Raph and Leo, and the monsters plot. It's nicely directed as well, restrained with elements of subtlety when needed. However, it's not as emotional or deep as it wants to be. And the character designs, especially the humans, are weak and neeeeed to be changed for a sequel. Casey and April are clearly crammed in just for the sake of having them, although I'd rather have appear them than not. Casey Jones is remarkably family friendly and toned down. He's the nicest badass street vigilante ever.

And there are clear influences from the likes of Daredevil and Blade. Not a problem per se, but it is very obvious. Anyway, I really enjoy TMNT. It's the second best Turtles movie.

a tmnt sequel?
count me in as wanting that:ninja:

It would have to involve Karai and Shred-Head somehow though. Fans are clamoring for it.

I thought TMNT was a good movie, I prefer it over TMNT 2 and 3 but here's some of my small beefs with the movie 1. granted some of the fight scenes were cool, but the one at Winter's tower with the foot seemed to fly by fairly quickly. 2. Mike and Don didn't do much in the flim other then earlier stuff before Leo's return. 3. It didn't really explain a heck alot of what happen between Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 and TMNT all of the sudden the foot had a new leader even tho she wasn't in the first two movies. That's where I thought the length of the movie hurt the story. Overall I like how the turtles and Splinter look it did confirmed it was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV not a series reboot and it's going back to what made the first turtles movie popular.

Question tho if the bad guy in TMNT 5 is Shredder will he be normal shredder or the super Shredder?

I thought the movie was good. Voice acting was really good, and the movements of the turtles was much better than I thought.

i'd see a sequel.Maybe get some new villains like Bebop and Rocksteady

I'd rather have another Live-action movie.

I think the rather unsubtle line about familiar figures from the past confirms that.

I'd be amazed if they went with the Super Shredder - but impressed by such dedication to continuing the previous storylines.

The last thing I heard from the TMNT/Mirage website is that they're working out different ideas on the sequel. Warner Bros. green light it but the one snag I heard is that Imagi is pissed off how Warner Bros. didn't really did enough to help the first movie out.

Imagi and WB had worked out their problems over distribution last summer, the one thing that is holding up the sequel is Imagi and Mirage agreeing on a direction for the sequel, Imagi had wanted to take a more comedic approach with the sequel which was rejected by mirage, the two parties are suppose to meet again next month.

There was a plan to produce a 5 million dollar direct-to-video cgi feature by Imagi, based on the original TMNT comic. It was to come out next year for the 25th anniversary, but was nixed due to the possibility it would not make it out on time. Personally, I still would like to see them go through with it, anniversary or no anniversary.

Casey and April are clearly crammed in just for the sake of having them, although I'd rather have appear them than not. Casey Jones is remarkably family friendly and toned down. He's the nicest badass street vigilante ever.

Casey and April had much larger roles in the original cut, which was over two hours long, Kevin Monroe decide to cut them since it seemed they were taking too much screentime away from the turtles.

Not surprising, the turtles started out as parody of Daredevil.:yay:

Thanks for the update, I didn't know if Imagi and Warner Bros. finally worked things out for sequel. I hope they give all four turtles equal time because I felt Mikey and Don were secondary. But here's a question can we start calling the TMNT sequel part five? Since we now know TMNT tie in the other three movies.

yeah theres a bit of arguing going on. Back in the 90's there was the pressure of going for a lighter toned sequel which eventually happened. History repeating itself again- except Mirage are holding on to their guns. The recent TMNT wouldn't have done as well as it did if it had been like the recent toon. I'm not too fussed about a TMNT2- the first one, whilst impressive in places, was a bit lacking on the story front. I still think TMNT 1990 is by far the best adaption yet- its pretty incredible how faithful that movie is given what it could have been like.

I really enjoyed this film but I think if they want to have a sequel they should follow these guidelines:

1. Ok, seeing how Splinter and Leo have already been kidnapped, Raph twice if you count the third movie, we need a new Turtle Napped
Michelangelo can't be napped, he adds fun to the film.
We need something with Donni. He barely had lines in TMNT and nothing has happened with him yet. Also, have Donni develop new equipment (UNBREAKABLE WEAPONS and Vehicles)
2. Don't have Splinter running around. Splinter at the end of the film, what the hell was that? Going by the first and second movies he can barely walk. He is good at parries and archery though.
3. Actually USE the weapons (you gotta stab, not block and throw)
4. Splinter needs a joke at the end.
5. BRING IN THE SHREDDER!
6. Have the Turtles a little older and more mature. (I think in TMNT 2007 they were like 16 or seventeen? Maybe have them between 17-19?)
7. Keep Klaus Badelt for the score
8. Please, NO ALTERNATIVE ROCK CRAP DURING FIGHT SCENES! Like the fight at the end? Honestly come on!
9. Every turtle needs at least ONE solo fight scene, like a full out scene.

This film should show us more of Donni's life, maybe his struggles in making new stuff for the others? Michael-Angelo should have more lines. Anyways, in this movie all the Turtles should mature a lot more. In the last one, they pretty much all matured 'cept Mikey, and this one could maybe show how his goofiness can sometimes jeopardize missions or something.

Anyways, just MO. And I am REALLY looking forward to a sequel!

I really LOVED this film; I wish it had been better received! I think a sequel would be awesome - bringing in Shredder would be cool, but I don't have a problem with it going in a different direction either.

You're getting a sequel, we gotta wait and see what kind of things Imagi and Mirage come up with for TMNT5. Because the only thing holding the movie up Lad brought it up that they're having a different view of how the movie will be handled.

You bring up some interesting points.

1. I think the turtles should get napped all together

2.Yeah Splinter was a little to spry. I wonder how direct sequel it is. Is it more like Incredible Hulk where its an indirect sequel because there seemed to be other changes. April's job for instance, she certainly wasnt a newscaster.

3. If they are going to use the weapons that way theymight have to get the robo-foot soldiers from the cartoon back

4.Splinters joking seeds of wisdom are always appreciated

5. How can I disagree with shredder?

6.I dont know how ifeel about this

7+8. Badelts cool but alt rock doesnt bother me either

9. Maybe. I'drather see them fight as a team

The last part about Mikey's maturity. He should be handled the same way as the Flash on JLU.

and more Casey Jones. I love the character and Evans did a great job as him

TMNT comes after the first Ninja Turtles film, and cancels the third altogether. Not really mentioned whether Ninja Turtles 2 is cannon or not. However, in the end of TMNT, there is the shredder mask from the first film, the ooze vile from 1, 2 and 3 (mostly 2 seeing how the entire storyline revolved around it) and a samurai suit from the 3rd one as treats for the fans.

the time sceptor and Norinaga's helmet were in their trophy room

Yeah, it definitely does not cancel the third one. It simply does not acknowledge it as it is not beneficial to the plot to do so. Just as it does not acknowledge specific details of 1 or 2. TMNT is essentially Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4.

I remember the writers saying it canceled it out though
