Having one or two decent films under your belt makes you a talented director... Not a hack.

I personally do not like STM, or what Donner did to to the Superman franchise.

So how is it ridiculous for ME to think this movie is going to be better than STM? That I will like Cavill more than Reeve. That with all the people on board, all the technical capabilities we have in this modern age, and all the incredible modern Superhero films we have as inspiration to follow, it might just end up being a better film, at least to me, that something decades old that even my Mum thinks is cheesy.

Every director starts somewhere.

It is highly possible that 30 years down the line, people will be referring to the Snyder/Goyer/Nolan team up as the thing that saved Superman, when nothing else could.

I agree with this. The old movies were cheesy even when I was growing up watching these movies. Keep in mind I am 25 so these movies were made since before I was born, but even then, at the time when I saw them (which must have been when I was 7 or 8) they were already considered campy and cheesy.

I don't like that a character that could have been done taking him seriously, needed to be watered down so much that it became nearly a comedy, a kids action movie. Did I enjoy watching them? Sure, but do I recognize they are campy and cheesy? Absolutely.

That is why Superman needs a reboot. Because there has not been an origin story movie that is serious and has a tone that is appealing to adults.

Yeah, in that sense it would obviously have to be CGI. I'm just talking about the crater itself.

The day Zack Snyder makes a better movie than the original Reeve Superman movie is the moment when i'll be crowned king of England.

You people must be on crack to think Snyder can suddenly conjure up a masterpiece.

Some of you lot are seriously deluded.

Despite many positive aspects about this movie, a lot of aspects are weak and leave a lot to be desired.

Put it this way, you ain't going to see the iconic moment like when Reeve first does the Superman shirt rip before flying up and doing the helicopter rescue.

What you will get from Snyder is some slow motion erection peppered with cgi all over the place.

I bet Snyder hasn't even heard of a flying rig or even the techniques used in the original series.

Hell, even Bryan Singer failed to provide us with decent flying scenes, and he was having a severe homage hardon for the Donnor movies.

Wake up people. Be concerned over this movie, just because some of you have a stiffy over nolan's name being on this doesn't automatically make it as good as The Godfather.

The way some people talk on here, you would think Zack Snyder is some sort of genius, when in actual fact he is a hack, who's only made 1 or 2 decent films in his entire career.

Because of STM all superhero movies have had a springboard. It has its place as a template and inspiration, but with modern abilities they can make better superhero movies than STM. You are living in nostalgia if you can not see that a new Superman film can be better. If the Snyder film is an origin as it appears to be, there is a good chance that on comparison it can end up being better. To some of us there was a certain cheese factor in part to STM coming up during the 70's. Also with the advancements in film making, as long as there is a decent modern story we have a good chance of seeing the best Superman film to date.

Someone on **************.com was joking around when he posted this pic, but it kind of makes sense to do something like this. It's kind of along the same lines of what they did with the Lord of the Rings movies, in which they made the Hobbits looks smaller than what they really were. This is the pic he posted....This is obviously a joke, and it's funny that it's from Field of Dreams, but you get the idea. t:

In any case, if it's as small as it appears to be, I doubt they're going to expand the damage radius much further in post. Smallville had a larger crater than that and it was a tv show. It's not hard or terribly expensive to dig a hole in the middle of nowhere. This is intentionally muted.

I love the long cape. I would have prefered if it was just slightly above the ground, but it looks great like this as well. I'm also fine with no S on the cape.

oh well...I think it looks fine without. The original drawings of Superman didn't have the "S" on his cape so I'm cool with it being gone

See that looks OK, but I'm not sure if it belongs on a modern Superman. Thus, separating itself from past theatrical incarnations of Superman.
