I still think they made a terrible mistake by keeping the yellow inside the S. I think the yellow kinda make it look a little cheap and cartoony at time. I think it look totally sharp and mature without the yellow. I got rid of the yellow on the first image to match with the other 2.

people seem to forget that it all depends on how light is reflecting off the "S", but the actual symbol does have yellow :S

I don't think that's the case. Seems likely he'll learn all about his parents and Krypton when he finally reaches the Fortress of Solitude.
