I just love the new "S" symbol, I love the modern old school feel of it, wish they'd use it more often :)

Well here's a good example of how the blue on the suit looks great here as opposed to the picture above:

It is the same color though. It is the lighting of the scene that is changing it, but you can tell it is still the same color. What will change is the setting, not the suit.

Well that's what I was actually referring about; that the different lighting setups within the film changes/modifies on how the color of the suit appears from a glance.

Using this logic, one could possibly wear a certain undergarment on the outside and it wouldn't matter.

He is impervious to bullets mommy. :supes:

You're right in that regard. I'm not going to BS you. However, I personally feel that the MOS suit has an aesthetically pleasing look that is both very sleek and modern. Putting a pair of trunks over it just takes away from that and seems unnecessary. Not trying to oversimplify the issue, but sometimes it comes down to what you like VS. what you don't like; and that's fine as long as we can be respectful of others' viewpoints.

I don't think it is really changing how the suit appears necessary. Just the overall look of the scene. If you look just at the suit in that shot, isolate it. It looks the same.

^ Where did all the comics fans go?:csad:

You can still be a fan of a comic even if you don't care for every single aspect behind its original design. There's a lot more to the Superman character than his trunks.

Great, although I'm still curious to see what it would look like if the red portion of the symbol had been of a different texture maybe more like the alien/poster version with all the swirls.

This is essentially just a silhouette of the family crest.

I've been a Superman fan all my life, I would get his comics from my parents before I could even read them, and I still have my Superman drawings from when I was 5 years old, red briefs 'n all... And for my money the MoS suit is the best super hero costume I've ever seen.

Holy, what did I just walk in on...

Must say I really love what we have seen from Clark returning home to the Kent farm. Really look forward to those scenes, should be very sweet and lovely! Seeing Clark, grown up and at ease, at his old home.

Instead of going direct to Metropolis, he makes sure to let his mother know everything is alright and that he essentially has found himself.

 Well said. The only thing I'm not crazy about on the MOS costume is the piping on the midsection and legs. Aside from that, it's a sleek masterpiece.

Yea I can totally understand that. And I understand people not liking parts of the costume, I still remember spotting the piping on the bank vault pic and thinking 'Whhhyyy?!' but I've grown accustomed to them now. But still, its pretty noticeable change to the suit so I get why it sticks out for many.

I just wanted to post in hope that people don't think that everyone who loves the costume and doesn't miss the briefs isn't a fan of the comics and has never been interested in Superman pre-Man of Steel.

Don't worry about it. Anyone who doesn't already understand that has some serious growing up to do.

The best Superhero film getup has to be Iron Man's armor. It really isn't close really. It almost always looks phenomenal.

I think the MoS suit is one of the best I've ever seen. Iron Man's armor is usually CGI. The Supes suit looks great in non-CGI shots - its a real suit.

Yeah I really dislike the texturing on the S. It looks particularly bad when they put it on t shirts.

How you get it on screen should be pretty irrelevant. Especially when you consider the cgi cape love we are about to get.

It looks horrible on shirts because it is so out of context. The shirt is just a shirt, then you have this weird textured shield.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the texture on the t shirts, I think this MoS 'S' would look amazing as solid colour like the classic t shirts. I think the texture works in the context of the suit, although it would be cool to see a manip with it texture-less

Not knocking the IM suit, just saying I think the MoS suit is a real triumph in costume design.

I think it is pretty funny that both the Superman and Thor outfits are arguably two of the best we have seen, and many would probably say they are the hardest to translate from the comics to the screen.

Must be a cape thing.

I think even without the cape, there is something about the lines and texture of the suit that really "pops" from each picture of it. Thor's suit is pretty sweet too.
