There's a classic Superman shield right above the car to the right. What's that about?

Looks like the same shield he has on his chest to me.

Showtime; Look at the difference in brightness of the shield in the 2 pics. There's reflective qualities going on with this suit, depending the angle and where light is hitting it, the thing brightens up big time, which I feel is gonna look really cool on film.

It's a nice touch, but the suit is still dark in those shots. Again, which is fine, but looking at the reaction of posters the past couple years. It's against everything they've asked for. Its more a commentary the thought process of a fan than it is on the suit it self.

Are people actually worrying because he's not wearing a cape in these pics? For all we know this is prep time before filming a scene.

Just speculating here, but its possible the pics I posted of his suit are after he has gone a few rounds with Zod and company..maybe its supposed to look kinda grungy by that point.
He isnt wearing his cape afterall, maybe it got ripped off.

Well there are different size capes for different scenes. Walking capes, flying capes, action capes. Just like there were in Returns. In between takes on Returns, they would unhook Routh's cape as well. So it most likely means nothing.

i'm cool with the look. I think it's interesting, and a nice modern feel to superman. i'm excited to see more photos. there's gotta be a photo of him walking

I think we are going to be seeing some more shots in September once they hit Vancouver.

It would be nice if they did but with the movie so far away, I doubt we will see any official images for quiet a while. They already released one way ahead of any scenes filmed with Cavill in the suit, so I imagine it'll be a while before another official picture is released.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a deal in place with an outlet like Entertainment Weekly, and that they're contractually obligated not to release too much.

I do believe studios send photos to all big magazines like empire,total film. Entertainment weekly but are told to release at a certain time.

of course the magazine will realese the pics on the date that the studio tells them. how else would you control the marketing?

Right. But what I was trying to get at is that the studio may be under a similar obligation not to release their own shots to undercut whatever they sent to magazines. I'd be pretty pissed if I were EW, sitting on a bunch of hi quality and hi-res photos of the suit in action, waiting to go to press and release online, then the studio goes ahead and releases similar pics. Takes the wind out of the sails.

If it is bright outside, the materials of the suit make it appear more blue because of reflective qualities to sunlight. If it is dark outside, the suit appears darker. This would be cinematically very cool. It is like seeing a suit that adapts to the environment somewhat.

Thats what i'm excited to see. some shots of them fighting in metropolis ( hopefully anyway).

Another thing, I can't help but think that the release date won't hold up.
I wouldn't be surprised if its moved again..I mean doesn't it seem like this thing is really cranking for it to be two years away. Maybe its just wishful thinking on my part.

I'm curious to see on what the DP will look like in this film, let alone what Metropolis will look like. I like what Snyder said about trying to make 'this' world mirror our own in order to convey the notion of seeing a representation of what it'd be like to have a Superman of our own in our world.

You mean "a city of tomorrow" with the appearance that its technology and appearance looks as if they're approaching a new age or something? I think that's what Metropolis is described to look like in the comics.

If that was the case, I wouldn't mind, but I wouldn't be surprised if Metropolis was presented to have a beautiful exterior, with it looking like that it's a great city, only for the audience to see that it's not once you go deeper into it, and this would all be prior before Superman arrives on the scene.

What I mean is I don't want to get a Metropolis like we got in SR, ie, A few shots but nothing that really screamed, ''this is Metropolis, the largest city in the US''.
I want to see Huge skyscrapers and lots of them, even off in the distance.

True, and that makes sense.

Also, I hope that they bring life to the city by showing us a lot of well familiar characters/inhabitants of the city from the comics in the film.

I liked how Nolan was really able to give life and personality to his Gotham in his films. It made the world and stakes present in the film feel that MUCH more bigger for me.

I'd love to see them use a city like Sydney for Metropolis blended in with other cities to create the illusion of the modern Metropolis.

I'm okay with Metropolis being a bigger, fancier version of NY, but I really don't want that golden, futuristic Metropolis of STAS and some of the newer comics.

It just feels too far removed from the real world for my taste. I don't want to see Superman flying around some scifi cityscape-- I want to see him flying around a city that actually feels familiar and recognizable.

I think that the Buffalo, NY City Hall is a perfect template for an art deco style Daily Planet.

Look at that building! Put a spinning globe on top and BAM!
