I'm sure Snyder wont keep the classic music, at least I don't think so, but he may keep elements, like the Star Trek reboot.

Anyone know who is doing the score?

There's no way he keeps the theme/score. I don't even think any classic elements of music will be kept. Superman Returns was essentially the Star Trek reboot for Superman - the same, yet not the same. Since that didn't pan out, I don't expect any connection to the Donnerverse at all.

Not sure who's doing the score, but I'd like to see Michael Giacchino give it a go (keeping with the Star Trek theme here..ha). Or Alan Silvestri. The Back to the Future films have some of the best scores EVER.

I'm going to stick with Giacchino, Shore, Bates and as my sleeper suprise pick....John Williams and the ones who will do the MOS score.

Silvestri's latest work has been awful. so i'll pass on him. did he even DO anything for captain america?

Silvestris work in Cap was like a ripoff from John Williams unbalanced score from The Patriot. No good IMO.

I know. It's amazing to me that the same guy who did Back to the Future could put out something as dull and lifeless as that score for Captain America. A great score could have REALLY made that movie soar, but instead the action just kind of... lied there.

So definitely not him for MOS.

Wow, really? I admit my suggestion was based on his past work as I haven't seen anything recent that he's done. Mainly based on Back to the Future and Forrest Gump. That's disappointing to hear his newer stuff isn't up to snuff...

My money is on Bates or Zimmer for this film, but I still would like someone different.

I wish Jerry Goldsmith was still alive, I'd love to hear what he'd come up with for Superman. After all, he's the one who made the much better Star Trek theme (Motion Picture, Next Generation) so... yeah. If anyone was going to use an element of the old and then spin it totally new, it would be him. He was so great.

I don't have any idea who'll do the score for this film, I just hope we get a theme. A definite theme. I miss good themes. Very few films have had such in recent years/decades.

Only person I would vomit at hearing was doing such? Danny Elfman. I liked his Batman 89 work, but very little besides such. Did not like his Spider-Man stuff, and when he got the gig for Terminator Salvation I was very disappointed. He's a good composer; but not a good 'theme' guy since Batman.

I'd like to hear what Bear McCreary could do, but he's not famous enough to get such a gig, being a TV composer. The stuff he came up with for Battlestar Galactica was really such a new vibe on things, I'd love to see how he'd do a big budget film, you know? Especially with a mandate for unique stuff like on BSG.

Agreed. Elfman's work all essentially sounds the same to me. Not a huge fan, though I love the theme to the Simpsons, and his Batman '89 score. But keep him away from Superman please!

If you listen closely you can hear the faint scribbles of Danny Elfman signing his contract to score this film. :cwink::oldrazz:

Everytime someone posts about the score, I see an update and excitedly think we might have some more set photos!

Stop it! :p Your killing me!

Is it really necessary to merge every thread though together? A thread about an animated Superman, "Oh, all things Superman", that is great thanks. A thread about the tone of the movie? "All things Superman", etc. It becomes difficult to follow where everything is, and there are no new threads anymore anyhow. The only new threads I see are continuations of older threads, part 5, 6... 15, 16, 17, etc. To find anything in that many threads becomes pretty difficult.

I was wondering why the all things superman discussion was suddenly full of stuff about animated series!

That's just the way this forum is though. They don't like clutter for whatever reason.

Back on topic, please. I'm a purist, dammit!

Found some pics on the Superman: Man of Steel facebook page (not official). It says they're filming at Union Station.

Hmm, interesting, apparently it isn't a fight scene, otherwise we would already have seen more pictures of Cavill in the costume. Might just be shots of the station to add to whatever they film indoors on a set. The outside of the train or station blended in with the set. They do that with commercials.

Filming of Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, "Man of Steel" is well underway in the downtown area of Chicago, Illinois and a local resident has provided the following description of a scene in which Superman will fly:

"On the plaza behind the Hyatt... Adams, Fishburne, extras running around, cases and papers blowing all over. Everyone then stops and looks to the sky. 'CUT'"

Facebook commenters are saying it is Clark Kent coming out of the yellow and blue taxi and you can also see Lois Lane and Perry White:
