Optimism, yes!

I, too, am getting anxious to hear some sort of confirmation of an MOS teaser with TDKR. I know we're just under 3 weeks away, so if there will be some announcement about it, I won't expect to hear it until sometime next week. Still... anxious.

Though I suppose I shouldn't be too worried. I will be getting myself into the WB panel at SDCC, so I will see something from MOS before the month is done. ;)

An extensive report is mandatory

Provided my brain doesn't explode all over my boyfriend and all fellow attendees seated near me...

Then, oh, you betcha, you'll get an extensive report. :p

I'd like to know what it is that even drew you to these boards in the first place because it seems like your only interest is seeing Superman reinvented. Is there anything you like about the current or past versions of the character?

I won't speak for Rockstar. But this is the Man of Steel board isn't it? I, myself don't like anything Superman related that's been portrayed on film or tv in the past and want to see this character reinvented on film in a way that honors the character AND changes a lot of things as well. Things i havent seen in past superman movies.

..Obviously we're all posting here because we want to see it reinvented no?

OK, you officially SUCK now! I have always wanted to go to SDCC, but for one I live on the other side of the country, and I'm sure that it would be pretty expensive just to fly out there. Plus, it would kind of suck going there alone. How much do tickets usually cost for the event? Do you buy tickets for the whole event, or can you buy single day tickets? I have no idea how it works. I would like to get some sort of idea so that I can prepare for next year. I think my biggest hang-up to going out there was the financial part of the deal. I imagine the plane ticket alone would be the biggest cost. I dunno, I'm in a much better position financially now, to be able to afford to make a trip like that. So here's to next year!

I really hope that they show like a 5 minute clip/preview like how they did for "Thor" at 2010's comic con, especially since "MOS" should have a lot more footage than most films presenting their material at this event, let alone having some effect shots done or close to done I think.

Agreed. I really hope that they have something so mind blowing planned, that it will knock everyone's socks off and be THE hit of this year's SDCC. As I said before, they have been done with filming since February, and it's been quiet to the point where it's been non-existent. I hope the quietness has been for a reason. I understand that WBs focus, so far this year, has been TDKR and rightfully so. I just hope that there is so much that's happening behind the scenes, that it will be worth it all when the time comes. Now's the time to start a semi-aggressive marketing plan I think and SDCC is the medium to start it off.

well....no.......not all of us........

if reinventing the character means stripping away the core characteristics of Superman that makes him so appealing and makes him stand out from other heros..........then........no.

if reinventing the character means giving us a fresh, new, modern take on the character that still retains the core essence of the character.......then......yes.

Agreed; and if DC/Warner Bros. wants to compete with establishing franchises that will be present within next year's packed summer, they need to really get the ball rolling as soon as TDKR gains its momentum.

In some ways, I wish that MOS would have the opening May Spot, with Iron Man 3 having gotten the June one. It seems like May always holds good luck for any comic book based film that's released early in that month.

Sorry 'bout it. :p

Tickets are... Over $100 for the four day pass, that much I know. I actually haven't had to paaaay for my tickets before because I actually get a professional badge for being a trailer editor in the industry. It definitely falls under the heading of "perk," especially being a geek/nerd/whatever.

Financially, yes, SDCC isn't easy. The hotels alone... Yeesh. Definitely something you plan ahead for. And wear comfortable shoes during. And stay hydrated!

Regarding what to expect WB to show from MOS at SDCC, let's consider this. Unlike the first teaser, they have officially announced the SDCC presence. It's a step in the right direction, and we will benefit. Consider this, too... They finished shooting in February. Hell, they could show an entire damn cut of the feature (an assembly, at the least) if they wanted. They have the materials.

My guess is they will show something substantial to the SDCC audience, and maybe, probably, it will be similar to the teaser.

I'm not sure I follow........
was craig's bond not a gritty modern take on an old character who was more serious but also respected several aspects of the character that made him james bond and not just in name only

well.......I'm not a big Bond fan nor am I that familiar with the whole Bond mythos........so I can't really comment on how "faithful" Craig's Bond is to the character and mythos of Bond.......

but, I suppose using the "formula" you outlined.......that would work for MOS.

hopefully, with Comic Con approaching, we will start to hear, read, and see more concrete evidence of just how they are approaching Superman in MOS. that will go a long way towards quelling the speculation we are all wading in right now.

oh......and we need more pictures *******!! :jedi

Man, what I wouldn't give to be in your shoes! You have a dream job that many people would kill for. I mean, the perks alone make everything worth it all. I LOVE movies and is a passion of mine. I mean, I'm not to the point to where I could answer every trivia question about every movie ever made, but I just love what goes into a movie. From BTS, to making the soundtrack, to editing, etc. If only I could just get a peek/taste of that world, I think my life would be complete. Everything about movie making is so extraordinarily fascinating to me.

Oh, well $100 isn't bad at all. I was expecting something like $4-500 or something along those lines, because SDCC is big deal. The hotel part of it would probably be the most expensive part of the trip. Oh well, I still have plenty of time to plan and if I have to go by myself, then that's the way it'll have to be.

I'm sure he will follow this by saying how irrelevant the character is, followed by posting a link where someone says something bad about Superman/GL/DC :hehe:

Great thing about being on a board like this is, you'll always have friends present at an event like SDCC.

No mention of MOS on this week's EW-cover at all, can only mean a bigger focus in a later issue. Next week maybe? I dunno how they operate.

And the lack of news and info regarding the SDCC-panel is strange, but I reckon it'll pop up soon enough. I dont think they're concerned with stepping on TDKR's shoes since it's opening in a couple of weeks and the main PR has been launched. MOS can let it out safely I would assume, although it's still a year away.

I'm taking no news as good news. I mean, they wouldn't announce nothing, build up ridiculous speculation, and then show up with just a couple of banners with the 's' on, and the guy who's playing Dr. Hamilton.

Was this movie poster ever confirmed as a fake?

Only looking at it the Logo seems to have the design in the middle when the official logo wasn't released until after this?

It's fake; the person that created it even came out and said it I believe.

Reinventing doesnt mean stripping away the core characteristics.
Batman forever ---> Batman begins = Reinvention.
It stayed true to the character with a different take.
The 2 hulk movies - reinventing (although I havent seen either)
Xmen ---> First Class = Reinventing
Lois and Clark ---> Smallville = Reinventing

it finished filming in feb?????????

Man Of Steel has so much time devoted to editing, that it could end up being the most flawless film in history. Really is no excuses. This should be a masterpiece beyond any other in the superhero genre, in terms of presentation. Excellent cast too, and expert director of action in Snyder, superb writer in Nolan, giving it a great chance of overall perfection.
