According to assorted press reports, the teenaged Fanning is attached to star in a sequel to “The Wizard of Oz” that is being produced by Basil Iwanyk and Todd McFarlane. Fanning would play Dorothy’s granddaughter in the Warner Brothers film, which will be set in the present day.
McFarlane, best known for creating the Spawn comic and for buying a really overpriced baseball, described the new film’s take on the work of Frank L. Baum thus:
“You’ve still got Dorothy trapped in an odd place, but she’s much closer to the Ripley character from ‘Alien’ than a helpless singing girl.”

The concept is not exactly new, they tried making that Alice video game into a movie for the longest time with Sarah Michelle Geller.

While I enjoyed Syfy's Tin Man. Looking at McFarlane's Twisted Oz that they are drawing from, no. I'm not sure I can post the pic of the statue.

Not that I think they'll go that far considering Fanning might be in it, but they are certainly going to go crazy with the creature designs if Alien is in their minds.

if its anything like the twisted land of toy line he had years ago that would be awesome

Sounds like an awful idea. I don't like McFarlane at all.

I have to say I'm intrigued.

Last time I read about the Alice movie Milla Jovoich's name was attached to play Alice. But this was years ago though.

I think John Boorman's remake looks much more faithful to the source material. And more marketable as well. I'm not sure if it is in production right now or not, but I saw some concept art and was impressed with the direction the creative team was headed.

Mister H. could you post that concept art you seen?

^^^^ But you did.

Anyways here's another one of Todd's WOZ toys.

I think this man is to much into shock value, blood, and just being as far out there as he can. After hearing him talk about different things I really wouldn't trust him with WOZ.
